Where would you go to get a short story published.

I wrote a series of three short stories that are geared towards families in these difficult times and am wondering where to attempt to place them... Does anyone know anything about short story markets?

If you are looking to see your stories in print, I'd head over to your library and see if they have a copy of a recent "Writers Market." This book is published annually by Writer's Digest Magazine. Look in the General Interest section for magazines that accept Fiction, or you might try the "Literary and 'Little'" section. The entries summarize what the editors of each publication are looking for, their specifications, and what they are paying. It's also a good idea to try to familiarize yourself with the magazine before you send your manuscript off to them.

Thanks for the recommendation of the Writer's Market ... It is a good one... I had forgotten about that.

I would go to lulu.com. This is a self publishing site that publishes everything and you do not have to pay any fee. ( I think this is correct) You just get paid books that are sold. I think there are some other caveats but basically it is a good site.

I was going to say LuLu would be the place to go. I have not used them yet but plan to in the future.

I actually was wondering if there were any publishers of story books or magazines who would like a story... But it sounds like LuLu is pretty good.
