Please convince me...

I have so many doubts in mind whether or not I should put my real picture here in mylot. First, I am afraid to lose my friends after they see my horrific face. LOL and second, I just don't feel the need of putting it because I believe that writers aren't expected to post their faces in their article (though some do put their pictures on their write-ups) If you think I need to put even a single picture... please do tell me why and if I received at least 50 responses here I will surely put one picture and that 50th person to respond would receive MY BEST RESPOND because that will surely make me put my picture here in mylot. Good luck guys in convincing me and Good luck to the 50th respondent. :)

I can't be counted as part of the 50. While it is certainly up to you, I would not post my picture. I think it is a safety issue as well as a privacy issue. When they clamp down harder on our freedoms, they will even have your pic to be sure it was you that said it!

If you feel uncomfortable uploading your picture then don't do it.I hate all the pictures of myself save a picture of me at age 7.My avatar is my favorite symbol., not my picture.

Of course you do know by saying that you will give the 50th respondent a best response you are causing people to respond in hopes they will get a reward as well if not be the 50th responder. This is of course against the guidelines and you can be reported for it. As for the picture, I would be cautious because there are many people in this world who are on the internet and are not at all sound minded people.

I know we all want to have the best mylotting experiences so I didn't want you to be reported, etc, and I also thought I would give a friendly reminder. I hope that you have made a decision about posting a picture, like I said, keep in mind that some people are not who they seem online.

Again... I do appreciate everything. You were so kind telling me that in such a nice and humane way possible just like a tap on my back saying... hey you are forgetting something.. now its my turn to pat your back and say THANK YOU SO MUCH! And I will remember your afvice bout the picture as much as the rules here in mylot

I do appreciate your kindness in reminding me that. Thanks and I will make sure that this would be the last one I'd make like this one. Maybe what I should have mentioned here is that... "I will post my picture as long as I have received 50 responses" and I shouldn't have promised giving the BEST RESPONSE to the 50th person. HOW'S THAT? I am really sorry... and I do appreciate your kindness reminding me about mylot rules. And more thankful for your advice about putting my picture here.

I think it is nice to have some sort of picture, as it helps identify you more easily, and also shows a bit of personality. It doesn't have to be a picture of yourself, it can be anything you like. I can certainly understand not wanting to have your real picture on the internet. I am having second thoughts about having my picture here, although mine is so far away you can't see me too well even on my profile, I do have friends who went on the trip to Amish country with me where the picture was taken, who would know it was me if they saw it. I'm thinking of replacing it with either a cartoon of some type, or my baby picture.

A cartoon pic is what I'll be posing first and maybe the picture afterwards especially if I reach 50 post here.

I use my real picture as my avatar. I like seeing who I'm talking to whether it's the good, the bad, or the ugly. I can't expect them to use theirs if I won't use mine. I have NEVER chosen my friends on their looks. Their beauty comes from deep within their heart. One of the most popular members here uses his picture for his avatar & he's down right freaky looking, yet the members of myLot love him!!! If I'm willing to admit my age, tell you what town I live in, release the innermost secrets in my heart, why would I hide my face??? I always wonder what those who never show their face are hiding??? Soooo, what are you hiding??? If you lose friends because they don't like your face, then they weren't really your friend were they??? So...be brave, be proud of the person within, put that picture out there for everybody to see. Well, what are you waiting for???

Can't be that bad!!! I had another friend here make me beg to see his pic. Kept saying it's awful...get prepared to be scared. When he finally posted it, he was gorgeous!!! We all think that our pics look horrid, but that is seldom the case. As I said, your true friends don't judge you on your looks but on the soul within!!! So, quit being silly & don't make me have to respond 40 more times just to get my way!!!

firstly, anyone who doesn't want you as a friend because of how you look is not a friend to begin with. why would i want to remain as friends with someone who cares so much about looks? that said, i'm one of those who doesn't put my own photo here in mylot. i guess that's part of the reason why i enjoy cyberspace. the ability to remain anonymous so that we can say what is on our mind. if people knows how i look, there might be the remote possibility that they actually know me in person. this way, i can't really complain about co-workers and neighbours because they'll know i'm talking about them.

lol =D It's up to u whether u wanna put your real picture as your avatar ^_^ Be it good or not good, it's all on the appearance only.. Besides, we are all friends in here, and we get to know each other thru posts and discussions.. IF we are really bothered by your looks, we would have demanded to see your pic first before deciding to be your frenz right?? haha =D Or if u find that the green man is so boring, u can actually upload other pictures to be your avatar, or an icon which can represent your character instead ^_^

Looks like you have still not been convinced to put your real picture here. There is really no harm in putting your picture and I can assure you will not loose your friends by putting your picture here. Even if you do not put your real picture your freinds here are always there for you.

Well if the 50th respondent is going to get the best response, than that is not going to be me. Nobody is forcing you to post a picture here, and nobody can either - it is only up to you if you want to do it or not, but of course, me and most of your friends would like a face to attribute to the name that they see so often.

Hardly matters at all. No-one would know if it was really you anyway, and it is what you write that gets people's attention.

No one is pressuring you to do anything. I like your picture as it is - it's pretty! There's nothing in the myLot guidelines saying you HAVE to post a picture of yourself - that would just be silly and not very practical. As the very first responder said, do what YOU feel comfortable doing! There's no reason you need a picture of yourself on here. And like you said, AUTHORS usually don't post pictures of themselves - and you, yourself could easily fall into that category. So don't. Keep your anonymity. It's totally up to you! (In fact, you're part of the majority - do you notice that very few people actually post pictures of themselves here on myLot? It's nothing new.) Sometimes it's nice to match a face with the words of an anonymous person, but it's not NECESSARY. and LOL, you shouldn't try to BLACKMAIL us into responding to your discussion. (Why would having 50 responders make you any more compelled to post a picture, by the way..? Hmmmm..)

You don't necessarily have to put up a picture of yourself, rather you couls go with a favorite movie character, animal or some other image. I've been here long enough now to realize that quite often people recognize you by your profile pic than just your name. A different image stands out way more than that little green and white fellow. Look at my face for goodness sake, I am hideous and still have a popularity rating of 10.....LOL

You know what, it is not your face that will make you more friends here but the way you support them and the kind of topics you post. That is as far as I know. The physical features do not really matter here. It is your writings, your wit, your ability to support and not to be selfish. So even if you post your photo and you don't look good as what we thought, I don't think that will ever affect the friendship.

Well, I for one am not worried if I'm your first or 50th, but I will tell you this: Don't do anything you're not uncomfortable doing. I don't have my real identity posted on this site for many reasons. About the only thing you know about me is my age, location, the fact I'm divorced, have children and perhaps a few more things. A name or a face isn't going to make or break my ratings or convince my friends. I judge a discussion by the content, not the pretty (or ugly) face of it's author. *Pleiades
