I could not believe it. I purchased an item online last December '08 and I didn't receive it so I called the company and asked if they could send me another one cause it obviously got LOST. So they did and this time I opted for UPS instead of USPS and it arrived on time before christmas. And TODAY 3/31/09 guess what? I received the original package from USPS. I could not believe it. After 4 mos???? Now i have to send this back to the company. If it did not need my signature I think USPS could not have care less. I've lost a package before through USPS and they couldn't locate it. I was so mad!!! How about your? Have you lost a package through your local post office before?

I have not lost a package exactly. You know how they've replaced some human jobs and postage machines with this all-in-one dity that does everything from sells you stamps to accepting packages. Well I sent a pkg to a family member it took 3 weeks to get there. It was stamped so many times it wasn't even funny. They sent it to the right state but then rejected it for some goofy reason sent it to another state, then back here, and then finally someone looked @ the pkg fixed whatever and sent it back yet again & was finally delivered. I can't believe at what these places charge for shipping that they want you to pay for tracking and if they fail even if you insured your item they fight you tooth and nail to honor your insurance you purchased.

After that I don't use the machine they have in the lobby. I just wait in line to deal with a real person though there are a few that are truly lacking in personality I'll tell ya.

Exactly! This is why I don't like USPS. UPS is so much reliable but so expensive.

Hmnnnn, a lot of these happends in our post offices in the Philippines. I know this is not something to be proud of but instead to be ashamed of but the truth is that there are several cases of lost packages specially those from abroad that are lost and were not able to be located. I lost mine before but it was not a package; it's money sent from my boyfriend and it happends a couple of times. I really hope the gov't is doing something about this.

Your boyfriend mailed you cash money before? Sorry to hear about that but rule of thumb is NEVER mail cash. EVER!

I mailed a digital camera to my grandma - paid for the insurance and a tracking number but the lady at the till didnt give me the tracking number just my debit receipt. It NEVER got there. I spent 3 months fighting with them to get my insurance on it finally ended up calling the head office and they got in trouble took them half an hour after i dropped off a photo copy of my debit receipt to find the tracking number in their computer system. THEN i had to call and file a claim and it took another month before i got the money to replace the camera. It never did get there or get returned.

oh gosh...sorry to hear about that. I mailed an UNinsured package to my brother in UK last year for his birthday and he never received it while he received the previous packages months before that. It doesn't make a difference then if packages get insured cause they get lost anyhow and USPS don't really care whether or not they are insured or have tracking numbers. If they get lost they get lost and no explanation. I truly believe that there's an internal theft going on in there.

though our post office is so slow. i have not lost any thing yet. but i have not received any big package or whatever. only some checks in the post office. they have arrived quite fast actually. and they keep sending us a letter to claim it. of course we don't know what it is all about. only when i have received it that i was able to find those are checks actually.

hey really this is annoying.i remember, about 4 years back i have applied for a university exam and i finally didn't get the hall ticket for that.at last i went to the center and got a duplicate one.that time i faced too many problems because i had to travel more than 2000 kms(from north India to southernmost part).and i think it was all due to the postal delay or carelessness...

I recently purchased a textbook through an auction site. While, searching the track and confirm part of the usps site, I discovered that the item was reported as being delivered. I was shocked, I checked the carport and found nothing, searched near the back door and again "nada". I would like to know how to get the post office to replace my textbook. My postal carrier has done this sort of thing before, and on several occations I have hand delivered mail to my neighbors. The funniest part of this situation is that my mail carrier has stated in an official report that she placed it in my mailbox. This is funny, because the textbook has dimensions 9.5 inches in length, 8.3 inches wide and 1 inch thick and it is a hardcover. A book of that size would never fit into a standard mailbox. Please help summer D is around the corner. The item was shipped Delivery notification. Thank you, Ieshia.

If the book was mailed with insurance you can go to your local post office or inform the sender about it.
