a lot of medications say "take with a full glass of water" im not one that can drink a full glass of anything fast and sometimes will sip for hours on a glass of something.. so if i drank a full glass with my medication i would feel like i was drowning! so i dont i just drink a few sips.. im sure they want you to take it with some amount of liquid to help it absorb or travel to your stomach better but do you think the FULL glass of water is THAT important?

Hi! Moon! If you cannot have full glass of water, even three-fourth will also do. It is always better to take plenty of water with the pills/capsules because when we take those pills with water, they get dissolved in water quickly and get mixed up with out blood and start showing their affects. If we do not take adequate water, pills/capsules will not get dissolved and will start showing results very slowly and we will not get cured. I take full glass of water, whenever I take some medicines as my Doctor always tells me to have plenty of water with medicines. Please do not feel that you will get drowned if you take full glass of water. Our body system functions in such a manner that excess water comes out of our body through various channels. Water actually flushes the entire system in our body, which is good for our health, so please do not be afraid of drinking 'water'.

I can understand how you feel. I am like that also. I recently had a dreaded conoloscopy and had to down tons of liquid rapidly. I just chugged the stuff, and since it was nasty tasting anyhow, getting it down fast helped. With my regular meds if I need to drink that much I chug it, makes it not seem so bad. But afterwards I do feel you do!

glass of water - a clean glass of water
I think if an instruction from a medicine tells you to drink it with a full glass of water, then you should follow it. I don't think they will tell you to do stuff that they think won't help you. Also, drinking a glass of water is good for the body.

nope. i drink half full of water. i feel so bloated if i finish it all. i just drink enough that would make the pill slip into my mouth and some more to quench my thirst. I drink a lot of water anyway, so i think its fine if dont drink it all..Its right to drink plenty of water, but i dont think we have to drown ourselves when we take our medications!!

just a skill i guess :-) sometimes i wrap them in chewing gum and that helps. I don't do it without anything usually but if i realise I've forgotten them and i don't have a drink handy i don't have a choice.

i know that it is best to drink a full glass of water when taking medication. i know i dont, but that is because i hate water, it has no taste. but anyways i usually just take a drink, enough to get the pills down.

it is always good to take medicines with a substantial amount of water .it prevents overdosage and acidity as the water ensures that medicine is spread all over the stomach.

I am one who drinks a lot of water (and I pee a lot too since what goes in must come put). I could probably drink a glass of water with every pill if I wanted to (I take two pills a day for something, but if I get headaches or a couple of other re-occuring things that happen now and then I can take upto 5 pills a day).

Hi. I am not sure but in some cases they may ask you to take a full glass of water so as to dissolve the top most coating of the tablets so as to make the medication work faster. Just my though.

No.....half a glass at best. And I have also had that feeling like you are trying to drink too much and you are drowning.....so half a glass is about it for me.

God i hope its not that important because i just take it with a sip. I am not very good at following directions. You'd be lucky if i remember to take it everyday. But i been good with the heart med and remembering to take it.

I do not drink full glass each want to take medicine. If the medicine is bitter i feel directly ingest it, and if it feels so sweet, i will chew it. I like the taste of fruits, and i also think that the full glass is not much help, sometimes it can make me diarrhea. This depends on the dose used in medicine that have been recommended by doctors. But, the doctor as we, sometimes make a mistake on the patient.

I take a full glass of water with anything actually (food, medicine, after eating a whole bar of chocolate... lol) Anyway, it counts as a part of the 8-glasses daily requirement so it's almost a no-brainer for me to drink a whole glass. I'm not really sure if it's recommended to drink a full glass when taking medications, but I've been doing it for as long as I can remember and from what I can gauge, I still consider myself healthy. ^_^

It depends on the taste of the medicine, if it taste bad, bitter a lot! I think I would drink a full glass of water even orange juice to make me feel better. But if the taste is ok like capsole,i'll have a few sips like you!
