Well I took pics about a week ago and thought I would share them. The first is of our potatoes. We grow them in a half a garbage can. They are getting quite big now and can't wait for them to die back so we can dig our tators out (sounds odd to wish for a plant to die huh?). I will post pics as each response comes in. Feel free to share about your garden and share your pics too!!

At what season did you plant them? I am in Autumn but our winters are very mild. Do you think I can try winter potatoes? Yours are gorgeous!!!

we plant ours in early spring. Tators like cool weather so you can give it a shot.

They look awesome and what a great idea planting in a half garbage can! I'll have to remember that! I have tomato plants out that are looking pretty good. NO blooms yet though!

No, it doesn't sound odd at all. I bought some new potatoes at the grocery store the other day, and halved them, then broiled them with butter and spices. They were so good and so tender. I can't wait until they start coming in at the produce stand rather than having to go to teh grocery store.

tomato with new red mulch sheets - this is one of our heirloom tomato plants they came with red mulch sheets. We will see if they produce more with these sheets.
I am really looking forward to eating everything that comes out of our garden this year. We are growing three times as much as last year. We have 8 different pepper plants and 16 different tomato plants.

My potatoes haven't even started sprouting yet, but I'm pleased that we do have most of them in the ground now which is a major achievement as far as I'm concerned. It's been awful hard work and I'm just praying we don't have any more frost now as we're a bit early compared to our neighbours.

All of the plants above look great and healthy. I just planted some pepper and tomato plants about 3 days ago. I don't have much space to plant anything else. Thanks for sharing your way of planting sweetdesign, I am going to try your way.

I have just started my seedlings like a week and a half ago. The sprouts are about 2 inches. It is still frosting at night here so I haven't been able to start the stuff outside yet. I am doing zucchini, pole beans, tomatoes, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberry bush, purple peppers, sunflowers, and a whole bunch of new flowers this year. I caught a seed sale at Walgreens at the beginning of winter, 10 cents a pack, so I am going nuts this year! I have never tried potatoes, but I have one in a cup of water in my kitchen window. It has little green sprouts all over it. What do I do? Stick the whole thing in dirt or cut out each "eye" and plant it separately?
