Your family and saving the environment

I would like to know if you have a family which is working together in order to keep the environment a better place. In other words are you trying your best to save with the electricity and what steps are you taking?
I know that I have been having a battle with my power bill for a little while now and we have installed some florescent lighting here and there, trying to keep certain things unplugged and trying to hold back as much as we can on air conditioning and heating.
With the weather getting better I imagine some families could be getting together in cleaning up the outdoors whether it be in their own back yard or in the community.
Do you feel that if everyone gets together this world could save much more and be a better place? I certainly do. We seem to all be on our way in that direction.

i have always had to live frugally so it hasn't been such a shock to me as i know it has been to some people.i do everything i can to save on everything.it's just part of my daily routine. i'm comfortable & don't have any big wants which is just aw well. lol

I understand about living frugally. Every dime counts when you are trying hard to cut back and keep an even balance.
These days it is very important to cut back where we don't need things. It is good to hear that you have a daily routine of saving on everything. I am sure that it saves you a good bit of money in the long run.

we do what we have to. there are alot of people in worse circumstances than i am. i'm very thanful for all i have. u take care & have a happy night.

That is a good way of cutting back also. I think that a lot of people are trying to cut back on their driving as a rule. The gas prices are bound to go up yet again as soon as summer rolls in.
We actually don't seem to have a recycling truck in my immediate neighborhood so that kind of takes that idea out of the game for now. Otherwise it is a great idea for saving the environment. Thank you for joining the conversation.

yes my family goes green and we all feel it is important to do our part to save the earth, we only have one earth and once it is gone it is gone

Our planet will get along just fine whatever we do. We are just like little ants on the surface and whatever we do or don't do will make very little difference.
However, cutting out waste and cleaning up after ourselves is very important and should be encouraged.

Thank you for the great words of encouragement. However I do believe that we will get along fine on this planet as long as we all take action now and not let too much time slip us by.
I do agree that cutting out the waste and cleaning up after ourselves should be encouraged. I don't like it when there is litter on the ground. You would think that people would want to take pride in their own surroundings.

I do what I can. I recycle my newspapers--if I really wanted to help I would get my news online but my little town isn't covered online. And I do enjoy my newspaper! I plant flowers that don't need a lot of water, unplug everything not in use, gave up my electric blanket, etc. I pick up trash in my neighborhood and so do others. I can't do much but I do what I can.

What do I use at my house which runs on electricity:
1. Two Tube lights: 40W
2. 2 Florescent light : 20W
3. Two fans : 60W
4. One Televistion : ??W(I don't know)
5. My PC with monitor and speaker: ??W(I din't know )
6. One bulb : 100W (which we light for only 1 minutes per day on average!)
7. Washing machie
8. Mixer.
and most of the time we try not to use in whenever we need it. I mean no light gets turned on in noon time or after 2200 hrs.
