http://www.thecreditcruncher.com/2009/05/joanna-lumley-outsmarts-gordon-brown.html I can't believe that a seemingly intelligent person is basing the provision of citizenship based on whether you got permanently wounded in battle or whether you managed to get a medal for bravery. That is such an idiotic insult whether you believe the Gurkhas deserve citizenship or not... Gordon Brown has talked himself into a ridiculous situation, and Joanna Lumley has publicly upstaged and outsmarted him - the sooner she starts the 'Ab Fab' party and gets herself elected to Parliament the better...

The Gurkhas were loyal to the British government. This was one of the reasons why they were willing to die for the British government. Their skills were quite high, and their courage exemplary. If we are to look at the history of the Gurkhas while in service, then we may understand they deserve something more than medals in return. Ex-Gurkhas in my country have created no serious problem so far.
