What if you got tomorrow's newspaper today ?

I started (re) watching "Early Edition" with my girlfriend this past few days and in this series, there is a normal guy, like you or me, that gets tomorrow's newspaper, today, and tries to save people every day. So i was thinking, what would you do if you got a newspaper 1 day early, meaning that it predicts the next day ? What would you do with it ? The newspaper has everything a normal newspaper has (politics, economy, sports etc).

Let's see now, we have horse racing results and lotto numbers so there's some money to be made right there for starters..... I could also look through the business sections in detail and then position myself as a guru in any field I choose by contacting leading organizations and "predicting" outcomes. Think of the job I could get! And then of course I'd wish to do good deeds for others as well and forewarn others of impending disasters etc. I do hope this will be a regular thing though, because people don't tend to take soothsaying very seriously at first and I'd need to accurately foretell of a few disasters first before anyone's likely to take me seriously.

I would find all the accidents, etc. and warn those people. I would invest in things that would profit and give the proceeds to our local charities. I would apply for a job before it was in the paper so maybe I'd have a chance to do some paying work!

The first thing that crosses my mind is the possibility of earning much money from sport bets or the lottery. All the political events have much deeper causes and cannot be prevented, just as some other tragic events can't. Maybe a good deed or two when it's not too much trouble...

I used to watch the series too myself. It is intriguing. I think I would use it to gain financial gain. Solve out my personal loans and that of other people. But I would use it to help others to avoid tragedies and to avoid deaths and unnecessary pain to my friends and relatives.

I will not read the newspaper for sure for there is no excitement and trills anymore, you already know the things that will happen the next day. It is like also knowing your fate ahead of time.

wasn't that a fun series? my husband and I were just speaking of it this evening too. I think they ended it too soon, myself. I really don't know what I would do if I got the paper early. I would be tempted to bet on the races I suppose - I would hope that I would use the information for good and unselfish deeds though.

Haha, I haven't seen Early Edition in YEARS but I the topic title made me think of it immediately. I used to love that show. I would definitely try to help people if possible. Of course I would try to make some money if possible too. Use it to its full potential :P.

I used to love this show! He was such a good guy with this incredible burden/opportunity. The first thing he did was try and help people. He didn't think about himself at all. I don't think it was until later on that he actually used the paper to win the lottery so that he could quit his job to help people on a full time basis. I would love to say I would be that altruistic, but I would probably win the lottery first to get all that stress out of the way. Then I could try and help as many people as I could.

I have heard of this "early edition" but I can't remember whether it's a movie or a t.v. series, I'm leaning towards the latter because of the way you present it. I do not know what I would do but I think that it would have to depend on what the newspaper entails. There are a lot of things that no one person can do, nor one human can do without powers such as in the political world. If there was sports things, I may bet on them to win, but then that would also be cheating.

Id probably be greedy and try to win the lottery or sweepstakes or try to trade in stock exchange, something like that. Then Id buy stuff on bargains using the cash I got from the lottery. Those things might have consequences, like in the series when one uses it for personal interest it really doesnt work. One thing I might be sure if though is that I might not think of doing the same thing as what Gary in the series did. If it comes my way, I mean when I girl might be ran over while I was getting from home to work, then sure Id try to save her. Realistically speaking, thats what Id do. That's also probably why Id never get tomorrow's newspaper today.LOL I guess I dont have as huge a heart as Gary's

I'd check to see if I was in the newspaper. See if you seen before hand something that was going to happen to you that would be bad for instance than you might could do something to keep it from happening.

I had been into this life mot less than 68 years, barring the head lines on the front page the remaining is the stale ones. Bur the wondering thing is that how could they got printed the front page in advance? There is a room for suspect.

i guess i'll read it and see if i can do anything to prevent some of the worst facts. By the way i think i'll give also a read to the stock quotations :D Anyway i think that in the long term something like that might become a curse.
