travel vs swine flu - the swine flu makes feel scared when thinking of traveling on the train.

Hello fellow myLotters, I am going to travel to my hometown by train this afternoon (April 28th, 09) for a few days. I am very happy for this, but when I think of the recent swine flu, I feel a little scared, as I have to travel on the train for ten hours from two o'clock in the afternoon till more than twelve at night when I get to my destination. When this thought occurs to me, I don't feel good though right now it is safe in my country--China. So I am wondering how you feel when you have to travel during such a special period when swine flu is getting spread. Take care, my dear friends. Love from williamjisir

Hi jisir, since it is safe from the swine flu in your country. There is nothing to be worried about. Moreover it is a great pleasure to meet your loved ones in your hometown for a few days. If I were to come across such similar situation like you, definitely I will still insist to follow my schedules set earlier. I don't want to miss the precious chance to get together with my beloved family. In case the swine flu would spread widely later on. I think schools most probably would be closed for temporary to prevent the disease from spreading. I still will be happy to stay in my hometown with my loved ones. Anyway it is better than to stay alone far away in the working place. I believe the authorities concerned of our country will take appropriate measure to control the disease from spreading widely. Happy posting and take care.

Good afternoon, dear lkbooi. I got back to my school already for a couple of days after the trip back home. I had a wonderful time with my family and enjoyed it a lot. I traveled on the express train for twelve hours. It was supposed to be ten hours, but as it had to let faster trains, the kind of bullet trains pass first, this train was late for two hours. The train left at two in the afternoon and arrived at two in the early morning. It was a very tiring trip as I could not get a seat ticket due to my getting the ticket too late, just one day before my departure. After standing for two hours on the passage, I could not suffer it any more. Then I asked the young guy with a seat to offer me a tiny part of seat for me to sit on till I got to my hometown. What a trip! But I was lucky to get a seat ticket back to school. To travel is tiring though exciting. But anyway, I still enjoyed the get-together with my family to see them all in good health. Thank you so much for the response, lkbooi. And I am sorry for the late response to yours as I did not have time to visit this favorite site of mine during those days. I wish you all the best and take good care of yourself during this special period of swine flu. Good day.

Wow! Seems that you have enjoyed lots of fun to meet your loved ones in your home town for days. Yeah, I had been to your country before, and I understand that to have to spend extra 2 hours or so to give way to the speedy bullet trains on the journey. Oh my dear friend, I could imagine how exhausted to stand in the aisle of the train for two hours long. I believe it’s because of the swine flu, so the hesitation of going home caused you couldn’t get the train seat ticket in time. Really, it’s still worthy, as the happy moment together with the family could compensate the two hours torture standing in the train I suppose. I understand jisir, definitely we will make use of the time to get together with our family. And I believe no one willing to spend the valuable time working on the computer after having a long distance travelling to meet our loved ones. Take care and happy posting

Morning, lkbooi. It was really a very tiring trip for me. During the days when I was at home, I was exhausted and always wanted to sleep earlier and more. Usually it takes me at least two days to get myself recovered from the tiredness of each long journey. But anyway it is worth it because I have seen my loved ones. Now I am looking for the arrival of July, when it is time for our long summer vacation. Have a good day, my dear friend.

This is horrifying William. I have been following this news and its terrible how its spreading and affecting the economy of US and Mexico. Europe has virtually cut down of travel visas to US! I do wish a quick disaster control measure soon. I know you are traveling now to your country home. Be fine, stay healthy and do not bother much about getting affected. Even though, healthy measures are for always we can actually be aware and help. So, enjoy your travel and do share the snaps when you come back.

If I had plans to travel to Mexico right now, I'd cancel the trip. I've never visited Mexico and would love to but not now while this issue is ongoing. The only deaths, so far, have occurred in Mexico. The swine flu seems to be spreading in the US as well but it's not at epidemic levels. Hopefully this doesn't happen. Enjoy your trip home today, carolbee

I am glad that you had a wonderful vacation in your home town. Recent news indicates that the swine flu continue to spread, but not in large scale. I think as long as the authorities of all the countries take effective precaution measure, then it could be stopped from spreading from nation to nation. Our government is monitoring the airport incomers too. You too have a nice day!

My dear friend, William; First and foremost, I wish you wealthy and healthy. Your discussion really surface on the right time and at the right place on here. Thanks for your candor sharing this current health global emergency/alert. Where, Dr. Keija Fukuda(WHO Director General) declared the swine flu is a pandemic case. Regarding your today's travel and the schedules, I think in your country and especially in your living area is still safe place and the situation around in good level UNLESS it has been declared by the government for PHE(Public Health Emergency) like what has been done by these countries; New Zealand, Mexico, UK, and US. In your country, maybe not many people who recently visited Mexico or they not yet comeback to their hometown after visited Mexico. Below is my small sharing related to influenza news; VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yBBjBIU-J8 VIDEO CONTENT DETAILS (running time 2:06) Dr Richard Besser, Acting Director, CDC updating the following 0:21 - he confirmed there are 20 cases in US; New York City(8), Ohio(1), Arkansas(2), Texas(2), and California(7) 0:58 - he announced about good news where 19 cases recovered and 1 still hospitalization. 1:08 - he confirmed the swine virus is the same virus in Mexico.

Hi friend, so far your country is not affected yet. So, relax your mind and enjoy yourself during your this recent trip. The most important thing is eat well and rest well when you are out of your home. Better be careful when going outstation because nowadays weather is very warm, too. So, wish you have a wonderful trip..

Well, I'm not going to travel to Mexico. If I am traveling at all, I'll make doubly sure my kids and I wash our hands wherever we go. Maybe soon we'll be wearing those masks. Nothing to take lightly.

Hey mate, It's quite a long time never heard of me. Just a little busy recently with some of my programs but like what i said before i won't forget this site as part of my life. Anyway, you can rest assure for not being affected by the latest scary news such as swine flu if you keep away from strangers. Always make your hands clean if you have unintentionally direct contact with them. Wash our hands always and use anti-bacteria soap. Hope you have a nice trip.

I have arranged to go to Sheffield in July, which is about a 3 hour bus ride away, I am not planning on changing it because there is a tiny risk in my country at the moment (UK). I am not really worried about it coming here either, because all travel is banned out of Mexico and the disease cannot travel through the air half way round the world. So as long as the cases in the country at the moment are contained and cured then there is no worry.

Hi, I hope you are now fine from your travel. Yup It is dangerous to think about this swine flu when you are traveling because of contamination maybe of the food you will be eating on the way, or from people around you who carried the disease. I just wish your travel was just fine.

Hi,William, believe everything goes well on your side~~as well for me,Guangzhou is safe at this stage. Regarding to your question,I would say I will NOT go out or entry the suspect areas when there's some special things happen out there, just like now. However, things will not be changed significant for me as the only chance I go out for travel is during my holiday~not every moment even I wish to~lol`~ Do take care~~

Morning, cindy. It is wise of you not to take your kid to crowded places. When I am at a crowded place, I feel scared of getting flu. If possible, I always try not to stay in such a place, but when having to travel on a train, I have no other choice. Anyway, I am now back to school safely and I am very happy for the trip and the short holiday. All the best to you, cindy.

This question reminds me of a friend of ours. we had a chat with him over the weekend about this. He has cancer, did his last chemo and now he is supposed to travel to India for review and he has been anticipating this for a long time. But now, he really wants to cancel his appointment with his doctor because he is afraid of the flu. Ofcourse we havent heard that India is already affected but he is so scared. He feels since he already has cancer, the flu will kill him at once. Surely, that is a personal feeling but we cant help but sympathise with him. So, you are right, just the thought of it can make you think twice. We all need to take care, not just of ourselves but also in consideration of the next person.

swine flue outbreak is the biggest talk of the world for today. it has been occured most in mexico, i think it's just safe to travel when you are not going to mexico, or if you are going to some other country, you might as well wear a nose mask to protect you. it's a very upsetting news since it's a vacation month today, mostly no classes, but most of the people today are afraid of going out somewhere because of this swine flu.

2 managers in our office just came back from Mexico, oh, scared most of us~ Now,both of them are working at home. I think i will have a short trip in May, may not change it if no special happens although the swine flu spread, there is not serious as in China than in Mexico, no need to re-arrange the trip. pay more attetion to take care of yourself when you have a journey is enough, my opinion~

Well China is half way around the world from Mexico. But maybe sooner or later it will hit every country. I mean it was originally spreading in Mexico then to the USA. And now its in Canada. Where I live...........Honestly this strain of influenza is spreading through not only contact but the air as well. So we might be in trouble. But so far the cases in Canada and the United states are non life threatening. Although some people have been hospitalized. Just stay alert and be careful.
