Surgery, it is finally over with

As some know I have been trying for months to get my gallbladder out, and to get a hernia repaired. Seemed as the day drew near, something always messed it up, (flu, etc) but on Thursday they done both, and let me tell you it is not a great operation, I don't think the gall bladder surgery part was bad, but them repairing this hernia in my navel is what is hurting me. You talk about sore, and right where you need to bend. Today the pain is not as bad as the last 2 days and hopefully it will get better as the days pass. I also had eye surgery to tke a cateract off my left eye on the 8th of April, so I have had my share for awhile. Probably got the hernia from moving furniture around the house when you ask, and they just sit and look at you, so you do it yourself. And I have had jobs that I had to lif heavy stuff while doing them. I think surgery gets harder on us as we age, I turned 62 on the 17th of April, so this surgery isn't going as easy as some others have gone. The hospital where I was is about the best I have seen, they really take care of you, and make sure you are comfortable, they have called my house wanting to know if I am ok or how am I feeling, and they sent a beautiful card out saying get well soon. I think that is nice of them. Hopefully I will be ok for awhile anyway no more surgeries. How many of you have gone through surgery after surgery either in the same month or month after month.

Sorry to read you had such troubles to overcome before you could finally have your surgeries! I hope as each day goes by you will feel better and better. I do know what you mean about it hurting to have an incision right where you bend. I remember worrying that I'd never be able to bend right again lol. It takes time, especially at our age (I'm just turning 60 myself.) I went through a period of time a few years ago where it seemed I had to have surgeries like that. I used to laugh and say I belonged to the 'surgery of the month' club hahaha. I had to have my cataracts done in separate operations, then needed major jaw surgery, plus other ones too. It's nice to finally not need anything more (said as I'm crossing my fingers on BOTH hands lol) Anyways bdugas, I'm hoping you will get well soon and soon return to feeling better. Hugs...Joyful

Thank you so much for your kind words, and I do believe that with each day the soreness goes away. I did go out to the grocery store today but only for a short period and my daughter and grand daughter was with me to help. And lord I hope I dont' have anything else needs fixing. Good luck to you.

I hope these surgeries are it for you. I have heard hernia surgeries are painful to recover from. I remember when my sister and mother had their gallbladders out. My sister did something very foolish. They had told her to eat what sounded good to her. So the second day after the surgery, she ordered pizza. Pizza! She got so sick. I don't think I need to go into what happened.

I hope you're all done with surgeries. I hope everything works out well. I hope you're happy and healthy for many years to come. I had my gall bladder and uteris out at the same time. They thought I was crazy, but better to heal up once instead of twice, I think.

Yes I agree, you only have to suffer the pain once, mine is healing quite well and it has begun to itch, so I know it is getting better. I am glad I finally had the nerve to get it done and not have to suffer any more now. Thank you for your kind words.
