Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear "you know who you are," HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! did you know The origins of "Happy Birthday To You" date back to the mid-nineteenth century? unauthorized public performances of the song are technically illegal unless royalties are paid to Warner Chappell, the company that now holds the copyright. did you know that according to the myLot guidelines, you're not...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BESTESTEST INTERNET FRIEND, LOVE YOU GIRL!!!...supposed to celebrate milestones like birthdays, so you have to try to hide birthday wishes within a discussion.......or tell the person HAPPY BIRTHDAY by private message. so i will not be WISHING MY MOST SPECIAL MYLOT FRIEND A HAPPY BIRTHDAY here in this discussion. do you ever try to "twist" the rules???

What an interesting coincidence! I was reading this morning about Warner Chappell making around 1 - 2 million dollars a year from royalties on the Happy Birthday song when it's used for TV commercials and in movies! I was even on the toilet at the time of reading it which makes this an even MORE special moment. I don't bend, twist or even break the rules. No way. What I do is pretzelize them!

I was so excited I almost peed myself! I was in the right place for that though, so for once I wasn't overly concerned.

You do it best, at twisting the rules. Me I don't think I twist the rules or at least not intentionally. I do hope that this special friend has a fabulous sppecial day on her B-day and that she totally appreciates you bending the rules for her..

I did know that you aren't supposed to post milestones. I also twist the rules all the time. I have broken so many rules here, I can't believe I haven't been deleted. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to whoever!!! Hope it's a great one.

I allow others to twist the rules with out getting my knickers in a twist over it. I think wishing others on here a happy day (other Lot members) is cool because many of us (are getting in my case)have many friends who would pass along a good word. You Know Who.... Have an awesome day that leads to years of great memories to smile back on.

Yes, absolutely! I put out blatant birthday discussions too, sconi. I think it's our duty to break some rules...after all, doh't they say thst rules were made to be broken? They do, and with good reason. I don't know who you're referring to in this one, but a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to whomever it is. We should always celebrate every single birthday we have. They're huge tremendous gifts...like a big birthday present to open..........

I did not know that, but did you know that: Hippo birdie two ewes. Hippo birdie two ewes. Hippo birdie deer ewe. Hippo birdie two ewes. dates back to a 1970's Hallmark card by Boynton? :-) And me? Twist the rules? What?

i guess if they use it in a movie or on a TV show they get royalties....that's why in the old black and whites they always sang "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow" instead. i guess they didn't have to pay for that one.

hmmmm I kinda figure that you might do something like that but it's ok. if you want to greet some one. unfortunately, i have tried something similar to that and good thing i didn't pursue creating that discussion because i know it will just get deleted. like what happened to my friend when he made that discussion.

it's a silly rule! We share so much with our mylot family, we should be allowed to share their special days too. celebrating friendship is one of the wonderful pleasures in life.. it so unfair not being able to do that here.

Very interesting, I had a "LOL" moment, thanks for the laugh! And it is kind of like the law too, businesses (mainly transnational/multinational corporations) love to find loopholes in the gov'ts laws and as you may call "twist" the rules.

Not on purpose, but I am sure I have. I don't understand why we can't wish someone a happy birthday if we want to, or can't say that it is our birthday or anniversary or whatever, I don't see what the big deal is. Isn't this a social networking site after all. I don't understand what the harm is. We are all human and all have birthdays and such. Oh well Happy you know what to your friend.
