I was just thinking how my fellow colleagues react to topics that they don't like. I, for one, just leave and search for another one, but i have noticed a few other behaviors... [b]So what do you do ? 1) Do you rate discussions with minus just because you don't like them ? 2) Do you respond with a superior / ironic tone to the discussion ? 3) Do you just go away ? 4) Do you report the topic as a violation ? Yes i can believe that Tammy, as one of my recent topics was also reported (not deleted though) in the "panda spanking" as the reporter added "lack of substance" to it... ah come on.. like you said, those persons should get a life.

Yes actually me too, I usually go away of the silly topic. Occasionaly I can post something off topic to make it more silly than it is :D But this is only when the question is really burden or answer too :D Other various topic I am not interested in but are important or have some significance I am really avoiding as I don't like to waste my time. Cheers everyone!

Well, personally I wish there was a way to block the Topics you really did not want to respond too, to give people more of a chance to never see them, but I never respond back to something that is against my train of thought. I will just ignore them, and move on. Since there are so many different types of discussions being started here all of the time, why should people complain about what is being posted here for sure, and create problems for yourself in the future as well.

Hi elitess. I usually just do what you do and leave that discussion and move on to one that I would rather respond to. Though there have been times were I felt that I had to speak up. However I tend to use a civilized tone. Why get in a huff about things? I rarely rate a discussion negative, even if I disagree with it. And unless the discussion was in clear violation I wouldn't report it. Then again I usually don't report discussions (or responses for that matter) unless I noticed that they have been plagiarized.

I do the same thing that you do elitess. I just try to search for another one that is of actual interest to me and that I can respond to. I dont rate others negatively just because I didnt like their topic of discussion. I really dont like to report people as a violation. The only times that Ill rate someone negative is when they are 'flaming' or not being nice to anyone in the way that they responded. When the 'flaming' is too much then Id finally report them. Ive rated other's negatively before but I can still count them with my fingers. Ive only reported a response only once in my whole stay in myLot. It was just too much that I cannot just stand by and do nothing. When I dont like the topic I dont bother responding to it at all. Not that I have anything against it. Its just when I dont have anything nice to say then Id rather not say it.

Personally I love that button on the upper left hand that will send me back to the start so that I can look for another topic. I think it would be wrong to just minus them, turn them in or anything else. We all have different interests and ideas.

god morning elitess, I ignore topics that do not interest me. If the topic is no god and I have no interest in the subject then I have nothing to write there, so instead of write something that would sound stupid, I just keep them as they are and go over to the next. I read my emails and see what kind of topics I have to choose from and also make my replys through my emails...

Hi Elitess, I just move on to another discussion and I think most people probably would. I don't minus rate and try not to get involved in argumentative discussions although many seem to thrive on that. Debate a subject yes but never in an opiniated way. Huggles. Ellie :D

If I'm not interested in it, I just go past it. I wouldn't rate someone negatively just because I didn't like their opinion--in fact, I rate them positively because they had the courage to voice a dissenting opinion. I've never reported anything, although I should have but didn't know how to report it. I went back later and couldn't find it so I guess it was deleted.

I just move on to the next topic. I don't respond at all. It happens when i was the one who creates a discussion then some people would respond in a sense that he/she is beginning to sound offensive. I just hope that they would just skip discussions they don't like to avoid unnecessary arguments. I do report discussions that violated the guidelines.

Hi elitess, There are countless discussions on mylot and not all can be of my liking so if i see a topic then i which i really dont like or do not understand at all then i leave them and move on to next discussion and try to respond to a discussion which i feel i can easily respond to without taxing my brain or without much research. No i dont give anyone minus or repoet to admin because everyone has his or her thinking and i got no right to report to admin if i dont like..may be others would like so i do is totally ignore the person or the discussion.

I just go to another discussion, I don't think it is fair to rate a person Ne, just because you don't like there topic.

I think this has got to be determined by what the topic is about. If the topic is a perfectly legitimate area for discussion but one doesn't like it then leaving would be the right thing. A discussion is a discussion - just because one doesn't like the subject matter doesn't mean it is not a valid talking point. However, if the topic under discussion is one that promotes, or appears to promote, illegal acts, harming others or self-harm then I would say it would be necessary to report it. If it doesn't promote illegality or harm, then it's fair enough to discuss to it even if the topic under discussion might be considered offensive by some.

Most sane people would choose not to mess around with things they do not like. I for one choose 3 as well, because I do not want my account banned for being harsh or rude. Yes, I have faced with these situations some times, especially when I started off with myLot. So since then I have decided not to respond to discussions that I do not like or do not want to respond to. I just close the window and look for other discussions. This gives me more scope and keeps my interest going on in the responses that I give. bourne

I don't recall rating a discussion with minus. I just skip it and try to find something I like. And I report the topic as a violation only in case it did violate mylot's terms.

Unless the discussion is really offensive (which then I'll feel compelled to report if it violates a myLot discussion rule, or if it doesn't, rate negatively), not much I can do but to just ignore it.

I would go to find other discussion which I like, and I'm not rate negative or report to discussion I don't like...because we have different way to select what kinds topic we can answer.
