Are you a planner?

I have a friend who loves the book "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. I haven't really read the whole book but one thought there is that even at peace time, we should be ready for a war. Well, figuratively speaking it means we must be ready at all times. So, this friend of mine is very much a planner. He plans out things two to three days prior or even months. I guess it's just his habit but I admire his skill for doing so. When asked what he does when his plans don't work out, he'd simply say "I have already thought of that" and tells me that he has already seen the possibilities. And when his expectations don't really turn out well, he won't be swayed in, instead he'd think of it like a game and says "It got me!" hehee.. But still he's unfazed. So what about you? Are you a planner? or are you someone like me who 'reacts' to things?

No, I am hell not a planner, but frankly I have a planner and I list all my activities there but planning ahead of time like one month for now, I don't have much activities because my normal would be waking up, going to work, going home sleeping. When I have a plan on a friendly date kinda thing it always cancelled. I hate my friends LOl.

Ohhh.. That's sad hey. Why not let them plan things out and just go there when they're all there? That's better if they're the types who change their minds the last minute. Thanks for responding.

Yes, i am a good planner because i plan everything i will do in advance. This gives me the time to prepare for the event i am planning. I believe planning something in advance is safer than planning at the last minute which create a panic. I always make adjustments for anything that can alter the plans i have made.

What happens when your plans don't really turn out how you wanted them to be? Doesn't it cause disappointments or frustrations on your part?

I am more of a planner, particularly around big events that will be happening, I normally work back from whatever date that is, weeks, months, away. I make a list of all that has to be done before that day, and then start planning when to do each thing on the list. However, for the most part I pencil it in, with the exception of exact dates and times. And if something changes, or happens differently, no big deal. I pretty much just go with the flow.

Me most of the time i planned a head of me... I'm just like my father, but there are also times where there's a change of plan...and i can't help it, it's really difficult to dwell with... anyways, i can do the same thing, where as planning for the future, why not also think for the possible solution if things get wrong... :) thanks for this thread...

Yes I'm a planner. Usually I plan things a few days before, afterall it would be a disaster if I didn't plan things ahead like long term trips or even short termed for 1 day. Though sometimes I like to join go, without planning or anything sometimes it can be actually fun.

I am more on a planner and I love it so much. Before the events happen, I always plan ahead in good and in bad times. I always remind myself that I have to be calm at all times even in worse scenarios. You never know what and when will it strike to you especially these days now that we are on recession, many are already in selfish mode. Well, it did work for me after the trial and error... I read that ART of WAR book - all authors who wrote about it...There are symbolic and easy to understand..I don't react to things because it makes me weak.

Wow, it's amazing that there are some people who actually enjoy planning. Why do you enjoy it? is it because it's challenging?

i am a little bit of both to be honest. i will make lists for things that i need to do or that sort of thing but i am also very spur of the moment and will go out or do something at a moment's notice.

I am not a strict planner. I would not bother much if I do not stick to my plan. I will try to give some sort of extension to my plan. Sometimes our plans get obstructed or stopped or struck with hindrance due to various reasons. We have to stick to something like give and take policy!

I know that book and i have finished read it. Formerly sometimes i will react like that. But as time goes by i realized that i'd better wait and see rather than saying something because sometimes words can't help us. I have a busybody co-worker. He always want to appears superior, but his works have never as smooth as his words. I think he is just an arrogant person. But never mind, the fact is the result of work is more important than just some words. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

well i cant say that anyone can plan everything, things will go wrong where in it will require you to act on the situation right on the spot. i do love to plan for everything but by the end of the day i would normally end up having to do something out of plan list. their both good, being able to make a plan is good enough, but following the plan itself is something else. things go wrong, straight lines gets bent. its wonderful to have a plan but being able to act on situations fast would be awesome
