Has anyone been to the AC forum for help?

I've been on AC for a little over a year and when I first started everyone seemed to be a LOT nicer. I remember going on there and reading and this one lady was telling how much she made and no one would believe her and they were rude to her. I never responded to the discussion. Anyway, I read her articles and she was a good writer. Needless to say I have followed her for a while. I went into the forums today and she was being mean in the same manner in which she complained of almost a year ago. Today, I read several threads some relevant, some not so relevant. All the threads seemed to have a bad tone to them. Some of the anger issues I could understand over pv and pay. It seemed like if you weren't someone in the "click" you got badgered to all get out! What happened on AC? What happened to the forums? I like to be critical too but not at one person's expense when everyone else is jumping in. That's not productive. Has anyone been on AC forum and am I just reading them wrong? I hope so.

I follow the forum, but not always posting anything there. The first time I posted was about the plagierism issue, they are very helpful, they help to shut down the sites. Recently I follow the "other writing gigs" more than the General discussion thread. Get to learn more useful things, rather than just complaining about PV and all the technical glitches.

Hi Mommaj, there are some nice discussions. The thread about missing Sam is very touching. At least the writers appreciate the good work done by Sam and Laura. Some of the writers know each other too well, and that makes it hard for any newbie to survive the slaughter in the forum.

It was nice to see they paid tribute to Sam. He really did a great job and the new guy is having a tough time filling his shoes. I think because they didn't really replace Sam they just gave someone else his job, that the other guy is overwhelmed. It was nice to see that.

LOL I didn't mean it was nice to see the other guy overwhelmed. I meant it was nice to see they paid tribute to Sam. While they were doing that they did give bad comments about the new guy. I think Sam would have been touched to see he did actually have respect.

I used to be very active on AC awhile ago but ever since they've changed things around, I avoid the forums and sometimes I write articles but mostly I do not. I wrote a few the past two weeks and had those published but I think the whole place has changed completely and it's not as great as it used to be. Instead of being about the content, it's not about useless stuff and really mean rude people that believe they are above everyone else. If you are not like everyone else, you are put down and are ignored. I remember this starting last year. I made some posts to the forums last year and was treated very badly and I decided to avoid going there anymore. I visit the forums occasionally but I do not post. I'm not looking forward to all the drama and the attitudes that people give others there. It's ridiculous. My advice is to ignore the forums and just write. It's easier.

I've never been on the forums, but you are not the only person that I have heard complain about them. I find it hard just to have time to write and read what my friends write on the site. It doesn't sound like they are very helpful. Putting other writers down doesn't help anyone. There are so many sites that function like that. I did some writing for Epinions once, and the people there (site monitors, who were other reviewers) could be really difficult. I guess they felt a unique ownership, and they would (intentionally or not) drive away other writers. Who needs that? If there is helpful information on AC forums, I would just read it if I were you and not comment. It's too bad it has to work that way, but who needs any extra headaches? Good luck with your writing!

I have only commented on discussions once or twice and I guess because of the type of discussion I was involved in no one really said anything to me. It was a good discussion because people were sharing ideas. The threads I read yesterday were to find out what was going on with page views and payments so it was some complaining to the head person, but then this one person was trying to have an article critiqued and he put it in the "wrong" section and these people just attacked. It was like a pack of wild animals after fresh meat. LOL I only go there when I want to find something out otherwise it is pointless. I don't recommend anyone actually JOIN a discussion unless they start it. There is a group that just thinks they run the place. Of course if they do it would explain a lot. LOL

I have yet to visit the forums on AC and from what you have described I am not likely to do so anytime soon.

I don't mean to scare anyone away from the forums on AC. They are supposed to be used for help and advice. I think the forums have got out of hand and AC is trying to get it under control. I wanted to make sure I was reading some of the discussions the right way because I am totally shocked the people from a year ago who were being mistreated are now being the ones to mistreat others.

I just don't have the patience for immature behavior and this person you described needs to grow up. Regardless of how she was treated in the past she should remember what the forum is for and take the high road as should all the other offenders.

No, I have never been on them. What with working and writing on epinions, A.C., examiner, and viewpoints, I just don't get the time. Susie.

If you are serious about writing and already have a grasp on "how-to" there is really no reason for you to go to the forum on AC. I love writing on the site but the forum is getting "chatty". I still use it to get information. Like I was having problems with one of my articles submitting. I looked on the forum and saw complaints about glitches, so I knew it was something they were working on and I didn't have to send an email to them. I also use the forum for technical writing info. Some of the "vets" give great tips. Glad to hear all is going well on your writing. Write on! lol

I have only been with AC for a month. I did visit the forum once, but it seemed to be a lot of complaining about something or another. It was not really all that useful for a newbie. Since my articles started generating income I guess I'm on the right track, but imagine that I still have more to learn. I'm okay with the trial and error school though and prefer not getting involved in negative attitudes. In contrast, I've only been on MyLot for two days, and I've found all sorts of useful and interesting posts on a lot of things from people here.

This is a great place to learn about everything. If you have any questions, even about AC, you can always post them here. I will help you if I can and there are plenty of other people on here that are on AC. I post questions about Helium on here too. I don't even know if Helium has a forum, but everyone on here seems to be positive. And the questions usually generate answers from the people who use the sites you are asking about or who want info about the same things. I have been with AC for a little over a year and I play category editor every couple of months. I don't have much negative to say about AC except for the "forum beatings".LOL

I have been on the forums a little bit but not enough to really notice this. I mostly just read a couple topics to help me better my articles. I find some of it helpful but most of it not that helpful. That is why I dont use it much anymore. I really enjoy associatedcontent and cant believe that some people would do this on forums.
