I am not a firm believer of Astrology but I do admit that I find it fun to read, just to pass the time. Sometimes, there are books that describe certain general characters or personalities of people depending on their sign. I am an Aries but the description doesn't always fit me and I tend to coincide more with another sign. I know of course that we can't base 100% of our personalities on mere Astrology or Zodiac signs but do you find this happening to you too? Being different from what is described in these Astrology books/media?

Hello, good morning, when I was younger than you I heard horoscope from Australia Radio and that was the one that made me have several grade of trust to horoscope, they told that "in this week I will get any latter from far distance" and it was proved, I got letter from other city ! Now I was passing my 55 years of age..hehehe.. young enough to read horoscope regularly. I am not deny that some times I still read horoscope as my one advise among other considerations and sometime as my relaxation, I tend to deny the horoscope reading if it sounds no very good to me and I was questioning if there some good prediction, but sometimes I feel afraid also if they read some "dangerous prediction" and made me pray asking God protection...thats all stoll has good affection, of course it will return to our self... means we have to still ora et labora, be a good man or woman etc., etc.,

hi justinus, I have also experienced getting some warnings and negative predictions and I realized that it only scared me. So maybe that is why I stopped reading horoscopes.

I really apologize for that. This discussion had been pushed far off into the rest of my newer posts and so I didn't really notice the other responses which followed after the last time I checked. I am not very regular in myLot anymore because I had to focus on real-life stuffs. There was a time when a new response came in my email notification and that's how this discussion resurfaced. And well, we can see that I just commented 3 weeks after yours again this time!Who knows the next time I kept in touch would be 5 years from now. That's how some things work on here. Some old and dormant discussions become rediscovered and it becomes active again. You can try that with your old posts actually.

Yes, Astrology is quite interesting and quite often uncannily accurate. At other times though it is way off the mark. When I look at my sun sign (Libra), I notice it is not exactly as described, but I once saw an astrologer who cast my chart for me and he was very accurate. He explained, that although I was a Libra, I had Cancer as my rising sign so that would influence my character a great deal. So now, when I read my horroscope I read both the Libra and the Cancer forecasts, and it seems to make more sense - but now always. As you say, it cannot really be relied on to be absolutely accurate. - Derek

Well it is better to come across something good than something bad, right? If you read soemthing good then pray that it iwll come true then.

I just hate the concept of stereotyping people based on their astrological profile. An Indian, I am a staunch believer of the Indian astrology which deals with pure mathematics and science. The position of the planets and other details are accurately calculated which makes it look genuine. So, each person here has different characteristics which makes him unique.

I see what you mean. We can't box and label a person just because his astrological signs or whatever dictate so. Thank you for your response.

I rarely read horoscopes, but when I do, I like to read them the day AFTER they were written and THEN see how accurate they were. I was born on the cusp of Cancer and Leo and if I were to compare myself to the supposed traits of each of these star signs, I seem to have a combination of both at times. I do have some faith when it comes to in-depth and calculated astrology, but none at all in the magazine/newspaper astrology crap.

The astrology.com is quite interesting and does hit the target at most times. They mention a lot of heavenly bodies too. Funny how I suddenly have something to do with Jupiter or Mercury! Do Martians have horoscopes too? I wonder.

well, actually, what they give you is your sun sign, and that is only a small portion of what forms you, if you knew your rising sign as well, that would probably be closer I've had a couple of charts done, no I didn't pay or even ask for them, and there is little of me in my sun sign, tho I'm high in fire & air signs and low in earth & water

I receive daily astrology reports from astrology.com. I did get interested on stuffs like that before so the site just kept on giving me emails daily. They do clutter my inbox! Now I understand why they also mention Sun or Jupiter or Moon. I didn't quite get that at first. Thanks for the info.

Yes, I know that some people are even taking the pain to read their horoscope everyday to follow the things written by heart like lucky color or number and things to avoid, etc. Well I respect that is how they base their daily lives on.

The generalized daily HORRORScopes (like that word..lol), that you read in the newspaper, or whereever, are nothing but a lot of hooey. In general the books you can buy on the subject aren't much better. However, I have seen some very accurate-sounding charts drawn on people that take that person's entire birth chart into consideration. The birth chart is what positions the sun and planets were in at the moment of birth, and in the location where the individual was born. I don't know if I believe astrology in a general sense, but some of the complete charts I've seen have been uncannily accurate.

I can relate to that "uncannily accurate" statement of yours. I have read the responses of people already but just wasn't able to reply right away. Yeaaaah, that was a terrible thing to do (and not do). I tried it out by filling out details about me in astrology.com. Yep, complete with birthdays, and birth hour, and birth city. If they asked me to describe the face of my mom when she was in labor, I might have attempted to give an accurate answer too (in case that would help align the planets or whatever) LOL Guess what? They were UNCANNILY ACCURATE!

sometimes i wonder if such things are real but most times the horoscope often tells something that almost seems to be true, the fact is that horoscope has been a research on things that has continued to happen to some people who are born at a specific period of time, these occurrences happen over and over again so the horoscope things its a necessary occurrence

Well, as far as I am concerned, I don't really claim that it is not true. It probably is. But to believe in it is just a choice. I, personally, choose to be guided by God's words and grace instead of horoscopes. I know that some people are into this kind of stuff and well, that's totally their choice and I respect that. It is intriguing though. Sometimes fun, sometimes, entertaining, sometimes scary.

Well,it's really hard to say.I prefer to believe in scoence but I couldn't deny that there are many phenomena incapable of being explained by science. When I was a little younger,I had much more faith in Astrology. I remember that some scientists unveil the method used in Astrology about how they can make us feel the words are conform with us.

Hi akifu, I agree with you that there are things that remain and will remain unexplained by science. We will never know that in the future Astrology will be the basis for our every decision. But for now, I would rather walk by faith.

The official Horrorscope - This is the official Horrorscope album cover from the band Overkill.
Well i really don't believe in horrorscope but i do read it for fun. Sometimes a reminder of things i keep forgetting. Well usually about being a good person. haha! It's funny because Arians are 90% compatible with Librans like me. Maybe the researchers accumulated behaviors of people belonging on the same zodiac sign then based their results from there. Well mine fits me well, as Librans we are harmonious, calm and artistic. lol!

Oh yeah, I remember you telling me that Aries-Libra compatibility thing. I am not really sure about that though. The last time I messed up with a Libran, he called me a "waste of time". I also think some Arians are good in grudge-holding and don't forget hurting words that easily! LOL Peace!

hi,theresaaiza, i am leo.when it comes to the constellation, i will feel bored, because why some people would believe that. maybe we can play that with a smile, if you are not serious, sometimes it is a kind of entertainments. but if you believe in that, you will be destroyed. we can see tons of things about astology on the net, something like the foresee of the next month, about your future of wedding, job, and so forth. and many books will describe that too. maybe it should be named superstition, even it is fashional. and my friend, just dont believe it, we can find our future with our hands but not the astrology. and have nice day.

Yes, I know what you mean. We create and shape our own future. I used to be into Astrology and Horoscopes too because I have to admit that sometimes they can be accurate. But I equate all that to mere coincidence. I am a believer of God's will, though, and that He alone directs and guides us. Sometimes we go astray but if we call upon Him He will lead us back to the right path. I'm sorry you may have a different faith. I am just stating my belief. have a nice day!

I think it has to do with the fact that most people only look at their sun sign. Everybody knows how that works. However, if you want a look at the bigger picture, then you need to know your moon sign, rising sign, and you sign in each of the 8 planets. However, I only know 3 of them, because the book I read is VERY dated, so it's hard to tell which sign I am in the planets. I believe I am an Aquarius sun, Capricorn moon, and Libra rising. I'm not exactly sure what the rising sign is for, but I know that your sun sign is your outwards personality, and your moon sign is your inwards personality. Hope that was informative!

If you think there is anything to horoscopes here is a test you can do. Take the predictions and have people choose which one best best fits them without them being able to see which sign it is attached to. You will find that most of the time people will get a random selection of signs attached to the predictions they pick. This test proves that there really is nothing to it. Might be good entertainment but that is it's only value. I wouldn't consider living my life according to that stuff.

I am truly sorry it took me a long while to respond. I'd been with real stuff lately. Anyway, I agree with you. For me Astrology is really just for fun. It is rather scary to base your life on "signs" and not on the guidance and grace of our Creator. But I know some people make it a big deal and I still respect them in that...well, respect. :D
