Isn't it scary?

How little it takes to get your children taken away from you these days. My husband's co-worker has been struggling to get his children back. I don't know the full story, I think he spanked one of the children in public and so had all his children put in foster care. He's gotten 2 of them back, and 1 is still in foster care, but the kids have a restraining order against him, so if he tries to spank any of them again, he'll be in jail. I've also recently heard that if your power is shut off due to non-payment you can have your kids taken away for that! I have to say that's pretty harsh! Everyone is struggling right now, and some families just can't make ends meet. That doesn't make you a bad person, and it doesn't mean you're not doing everything possible to provide for your family, but loads of people are losing their power, being evicted, and can't afford groceries, etc etc. What next? Do you know someone who's children have been taken away? Do you think that person deserved to lose their children? What's one of the craziest reasons you've heard of for someone to have their children taken away?

No its not right for children to be taken away from their parent do to power not being on, but its just in the best interest of the child.. Yes I do think it sucks.. It is scary, if you disaplen your child the wrong way you can have them taken away... but at the same time, if your children do not listen to you and carry on, you can also lose them due to the lack of disaplen.. Its a very sticky situation when it comes to rasing children... Dont get me wrong, there are several children out there that are getting abused on a daily basis and need to be pulled.. Just nothing has been done about it... Ok, if the government is going to sit there and take children away because they are being discplined, but they are not getting abused what is wrong with this system??? About 6 years ago my family was over for Christmas. My sister, her boyfriend, and my mother.. We were all eating dinner.. My neice was done with her dinner..so she pushed her dinner aside.. This made my sister's boyfriend go crazy..have no idea why?? So he started flicking her fingers, she started crying.. he started screaming at her.. which only made the situation worst... then he insincted on turning her over and spanking her over and over and over... these were not light blows either... We were all pleading with him and trying to take my neice away from him, it just didnt happen... So I went into the other room and called the cops... they came out to investage... And do you know what they told me? HE WAS JUST DISCIPLINING HIS CHILD AND I NEEDED TO MIND MY OWN BUSINESS... Keep in mind my neice at the time was a year and a half.. She still has back problems to this day from that beating... So if the government is going to sit there and harss parents about a little spanking here and there... THEY BETTER TAKE BETTER CARE OF THE ABUSE THAT THEY JUST LET SLIDE!!!

Yes it was, I just wish that the government would make the system more even. If they are going to take away one child for being hit, then they better do that with all of the children that are reported to be spanked.. Not just one here, and oh that one is ok... What does this government think they are? God? No way... There are children that are getting taken away from a perfectly good home, just a parent that lost control of themself or believe in spankings.. And then there are children that are crying for help but no one hears them, or they are igorned. That is what is wrong with the system...

THIS IS ALL PECULIAR TO ME. i DID NOT KNOW THAT IT WAS ILLEGAL FOR A PARENT TO DISCIPLINE A SMALL CHILD BY GIVENG THEM A SPANKING. I DO NOT MEAN A BEATING BUT A SPANIONG - A COUPLE OF HARD SLAPS ON THE CHILD'S BEHIND OR THIGH. Sorry, did not mean to go into caps. I do not think that two hard slaps after a warning will traumatise a child for life. Seriously, I don't. I cannot believe that a MAN'S CHILDREN WAS TAKEN AWAY BECAUSE OF THIS REASON. hOW AWFUL IS IT FOR THE CHILDREN TO BE PUNISHED IN THIS WAY! SOME THINGS JUST DO NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME. (HEAVEN'S I DID IT AGAIN) I did not salp my children because of hoiw I was raised with physical abuse - and I don't mean a spanking! My husband did not slap the boys as he was beaten with a branch off a tree almost every evening by his mother and he swore never to abuse our children in this way. There should be a balance in punishment. some kids just need two hard slaps to make thenm straighten up. Sorry - I expect that other mylotters are going to crucify me over my response.

That's how it is here. If you get caught hitting your child in any way, they'll be removed from the home, yet there are other children who end up killed by their parents and CPS could have stopped it but chose not to remove the children who were actually being abused.

I don't know any people who have gotten their children taken away, but I do know a few people who SHOULD. Isn't it sad that the kids who should really be taken away from their parents still have them, but the people who don't really do anything bad to their kids have them taken away?

This is what happens when the government interferes in people's lives. It's going to get worse under Obama. Everybody wake up and smell the coffee, this is only the beginning.
