Not allowed to nap

I haven't been getting a lot of sleep lately, which leaves me really tired during the day. Today I'd done quite a bit of my cleaning already, and much of my online "duties", and then couldn't find much else I could do (or had the energy to do). My littlest was still asleep, and my 3 year old was quietly watching a movie, so I thought I'd lie down for awhile. The house was quiet all morning, but the moment I lie down, everything seems to begin happening. My neighbor knocked on the door just as soon as I began dozing off. After that my son had to potty. I begin to doze off again after that and the phone rings. I give it one more try and finally the baby wakes up! I just couldn't catch a break. Has that ever happened to you? How often do you try to nap during the day?

Thats why I don't even bother trying to nap. I usually just load up on Pepsi & keep myself moving one way or another & just go to bed when the kids do.

I'll never go to bed when the kids do. I like that alone time after they're in bed. Some days hubby isn't out until an hour or so after the kids have been put to bed, so I have that time to do whatever I want. Then when hubby gets home we have us time until we feel like going to bed. That's usually why I stay up so late!

Well if you recall I have that issue with having a co-sleeper. So if we do stay up later it's to wear them out and then I'll lay with them and sneak out to do my own thing. But usually if it's not a very quiet activity, as we have a small house and wood floors that creak, I may as well not bother. Plus I either like to surf or crochet and depending on how late it is I can't really crochet cause I tend to make alot of mistakes when I'm tired. I will try to get up earlier than the kids to get things done as I don't need as much sleep as they or hubby needs to function.

I forgot about your co-sleeper issue. Oh thank goodness I don't have that problem. I imagine it's difficult to get "alone" time with your hubby...and all that entails. Don't think I could handle that, if I don't get attention from my hubby frequently I begin to take it personally!

I wish that you could have gotten that nap! I look forward to a nap on Sunday afternoons. I read the newspaper in bed and then put on the tv and then, have a little sleep. Soemtimes I sleep for over 2 hours and still go to sleep by about 10.30 at night. So (this happemned yesterday) I knew that my body was exhausted. I've always needed sleep and not getting enough would really make me miserable. When I reach home from work I sometimes lie on the bed for 30 minutes under the fan to recover. But this is rsting not sleeping. and the twins let me have this time wihtout coming into my bedroom! I wish that I could even just rest for 30 mins each day after lunch!

Mom would do that too. Right after dinner she'd go to her room and watch TV while resting. Usually she'd end up falling asleep there with the TV on by 8pm, but she'd wake up so early in the morning. She'd nap on the weekends too. I am still needing that nap, but the older kids will be home soon, then I'll have to make dinner and get ready to go to the library.

OH that happens to me all the time! I don't nap often, but it seems when I do something always happens. Usually it is the phone ringing. And have the time, as to make it worse, the phone caller usually has the wrong number. When we moved here almost 3 years ago the phone number they gave us was recycled. It used to be the number to a tv repair shop out the road that moved to the next time. Apparently none of his customers got the message though because everyone kept calling us. three years later we are still getting calls for them occasionally. But if it's not the phone it's one of the girls asking me for something. It just kills me when they walk up to me with my eyes shut and my mouth hanging open asleep and start talking to me and asking me something like I'm awake.

Thankfully my kids don't do that... at least not the older ones. The younger ones obviously don't know better, but if my older ones know I'm sleeping they'll close my bedroom door and help to take care of the little ones. They actually enjoy it when I'm napping, because that means they get to watch TV or play their video games without mom harping on them about how they shouldn't spend all their time in front of the TV!

I take a nap everyday. The answering machine catches the phone and the rest of the world is on hold. I need my nap to make it through the day. I try to schedule things around it so I don't end up missing it. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Happens all the time. Or I just fall asleep and boom, like magic radar my son wakes up. Must be in the mommy contract to sleep as little as possible and survive!

I try to really hard, but my boss keeps wanting to wake me up! But seriously, on weekends I catch up. Either by sleeping in late or by taking naps or a combination of both. It's what keeps me going. But yeah, there are days when the cats, kids, husband, phone, etc. conspire against me!!!

I hear what you say, it's always when you really want to nap and rest that the neighbors start to make noise... I also don't get much sleep especially because right now I am weaning my daughter and she is fussy. She wakes up many times during the night so I don't get that much sleep. During the day I try to nap when she does but sometimes I can't because of the noise outside. Well, I just tell myself, this won't be forever. Take care.

I had a nap today simply because my son was on the computer and there was nothing to do. I took the chance to get some sleep because I very often work until late at night when the internet connection is strong. Cheers!!

I have not napped in the day for years. I used too, when all my children were babies to try and catch up on missed sleep in the night but it would always make me feel worse when I woke up again so I stopped doing it. I do not really need to nap in the day now as my children sleep through the night now unless they are ill thank goodness I am just so glad that sleepless nights are behind me now!!

i could not tell you how many times thats happened even lately. my son will lay down around 10am, since he works nights most times and his gf will either lay down with him or be playing on her pc. the dogs will be napping. everything is so quiet, cant hold my eyes open. i lay down, and either someone gets up and starts noise in the kitchen, right near my room or the dogs start barking over nothing, or someone calls for me even though i havent heard from anyone for days!! its like the whole world knows your taking a nap!

Ha ha ha ha ha! Am I allowed to laugh? I mean would you mind if I go littl more loud while I laugh. Oh okay, I think I should carry on my respose! Right. Oh, you have taken words from my lips. I have been into these situation many times. When i was at New Delhi out of my home town, I used to work in a night duty and had to take a sleep in noon time but one day, whenever I tried sleeping, someone came on the door interrupted my nap. Most of them were like milkmen, cable person, intenet engineers and etc! That was the worse day I had !

Hi Kastmeow, I heard that having kids meaning you can't have a quiet day from the moment you gave birth to them. lol. Is that ture? From your situation, i guess the answer is yes. I LOVE sleeping, but i only have 1 hour break during the day time. I am trying to take 20 minutes nap or as long as possible. That really helps to keep me awake of the afternoon action.

That happens to me almost everyday I can't slep until 1 am or later so the next day I'm really sleepy. I have two kids one is 11 and the other is 1 and my oldest is in sumer vacations so you can have an idea what I go true everyday. And if you can't I will tell you. I clean all day the after my kids and my husband I cook 3 or 4 meals a day depending if my dad those gets hundry at a later time. Also I try to make time so I could get online in mylot but when I do one coment or two somebody will need something from me. Today I got a visit from a friend and 3 of her kids and my dad decided to stay for some days hear with me so I had to jugle even more things today. At the end I never had a chance to take a nap or to touch my bed. :(

Well, if you really need sleep, sleep alot during the night so by the time you wake up, you have enough energy for the whole day and you don't need a nap. But if you really want to take a nap, why not have someone to take over your chores during the day when you take a nap? Like get a housemaid or something. Me too I try to take a nap when I did not have a goodnight sleep during the night but lots of things hinders it like environmental condition especially the heat during the daylight.

I rarely nap during the day anymore. I used to get one in about 2-3 days a week. Now I am lucky if I get one. My daughter does still take naps here and there, but I don't normally get a chance to lay down with her anymore.
