"I've fallen, and I can't get up!" (actually ended up in hospital this weekend)

"I've fallen, and I can't get up!" Do any of you guys remember that old commercial? At least here in America, maybe a decade or 10-15 years ago, that became a classic commercial for elderly people who need immediate help in emergencies, partially for the population chuckling at it. But that happened to me (and I do not consider myself elderly quite yet!) ;o) To make long story short, I was already performing a last minute sub for a musical event from someone who had a sports injury. And Friday night, I had a bam, hard fall flat forward on my wooden stairs. Ugh! Couldn't breathe for a while and was scared, but calm. Had to sit head down for almost half minute before could get little gasps. Very painful. Luckily, family was home adn could rush me off to ER. Was there till the next day, and thankfully had lots of pain killer. Took long time to be able to get x-ray as was in too much pain to move. But "severely bruised ribs" internally, short of breath, and moving at all extremely difficult. Finally sent me home with meds, saying most important to be able to get my breathing back, like goal to take full breaths or can get pneumonia. Just starting to be able to take semi full breaths, but still painful. Can walk about though, slowly. Argggh, I think I must have had too much on my mind, as it's a really crazy time in schedule with a lot of work and events going on for next several weeks.

I'm so sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you have a quick recovery. You seem to have a good attitude, which really helps the healing process. I do remember that commercial, and I used to think it was funny because I thought that would be me someday, since I'm a natural klutz. Last August I fell just walking around my yard and playing with my dog, and broke my right arm. I was home alone at the time, so I put ice on it and wrapped it up, and was going to drive myself to emergency when my daughter called and insisted on taking me. It was a bad break, and the doc thought I would need surgery, but luckily my arm healed well with physical therapy. My arm is a little crooked now, but I can do everything with it that I used to, and it rarely bothers me.

Oh Karen, Ouch. So sorry to hear about your past accident. I have not broken an arm before, though I did badly break my middle finger, which required a 4 hour surgery several years ago. I just can't snap my fingers on that hand anymore. Trying to get at least a moment of relaxation today, between work hours. (((thanks)))

Aww, Steph, thanks so much for your kind words. Yes, I have to learn to relax better too. Things have been a bit overwhelming these days with so many things going on. Today, luckily is the only day I have a bit of time (though work to do), but in house today. Thanks again. :o)

Jill, Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm getting better each day thankfully. I can take a full breath now (if I try, though painful). Luckily recovery is clear each day. Like yesterday was first day I could lift my arms in the air, though not easy. I am trying to only take a single pain killer when I wake up if needed, as it is hard to get out of bed.

Awwww that's so sweet!! What a sweet kitty you have!! My Gracie Grace did something similar to me one day. I had gotten some pretty scary news and I just fell apart and ended up on the floor and just bawled my heart out and Gracie came up to me and rubbed her head against mine as if to say, it's ok mommy, I'm here, I'll make it all better! I told her that mommy's ok just having a mental breakdown but I'll be ok once I'm done unloading and kept petting her which calmed me down quite a bit. She's gone now, she passed over the Rainbow Bridge about 2 months ago and I miss her something awful! She had a bad heart condition that finally gave out. But at least I have my memories and will get to see her again when I get to where she's at, in Heaven.

Oh hun, I'm sorry I missed your second reply (if there is a way to get JyLot to inform us when someone posts again, I'd really love to set it. if you know, could you please let me know, maybe through prive message)? I would have otherwise responded again. What a sweet Gracie Grace. So sorry about her passing, and so recently. It's 2 weeks after my fall, but I am still having trouble with things like pains in the chest and breathing. But getting better gradually. I couldn't even spit out or lie down fully before. Well, I just got back from playing at a wedding. And I have an even bigger music event tomorrow, so thanks again for your sweet thoughts and your warm hearted story with Gracie!

Oh, my friend, Thanks for your sweet words. What was really sweet was that when my family was gathered around to try to help me, though nobody could touch me, as I was very sensitive with lack of breath, my darling kitty was so concerned; knew something was up. She scurried onto the stairs and looked into my eyes, brushing against me, asking "Are you okay?? Are you okay??" So sweet.
