What do you suggest I do in this situation?

My iPod ( a 40gb, the last of that model before they started in with the video screens) battery is getting weaker, and it is not as useful to me as it used to be. I LOVE this iPod, love its capacity, love everything about it. But the battery is a problem now. I am hesitant about getting a video iPod because I am thinking it will wear the battery out all the faster. But a new battery for the old iPod is about US$100. Do you recommend I: a) buy a new iPod b) replace this iPod's battery c) use the portable iPod pack for long journeys and get a new Shuffle for use around town Which option do you think is best?

I have a 5G (video, 30GB) iPod and love it, but I can see where you're coming from since iPod's aren't exactly cheap. If you really don't need video or any other extra features like that, then buy the battery and look at upgrading later on.

I would just buy a new iPod, I'm sure they made the battery to suit the video iPod so it will able to handle watching videos etc
