Hello guys! My hubby and I just recently got back from our wonderful road trip to arizona and nevada area. And we live in California so you can say that it was a really long and tiring trip. Although I didn't drive at all, my husband gladly did and didn't mind it at all even though he was tired at times. We visited an airforce base first out here in cali which took 5 hrs from sf, then went straight to another afb in nevada around the las vegas area which took another 4 hrs on the road. We slept on base and the next day we headed to the hoover dam. It was beautiful, but after that we went for another drive to the grand canyon for another 5 hours. It was my 2nd time while it was my hubby's first time at the canyon. I must say it's still gorgeous! After a few hours, we headed back to las vegas and slept there overnight. We then headed home back to SF for 9 hours on the road. If you live around me, grand canyon is a place to visit = ) .

Hello, I'm glad you do too = ) . That's good that your daughter loves to drive, so now you'll have an alternate driver. How far are you from florida? My hubby flew me out there in February to meet his family. It wasn't a road trip because he only had a week of vacation and that wasn't enough time to drive there and back. Anyway, we went on a road trip from gainesville to orlando. He also took me to Georgia. I have yet to see the rest of the east coast. Have fun traveling =)).

I love road trips, but unfortunately, just to busy to take them. We might do a 3 day one at the end of this month. Hubby is having trouble dealing with that. I just want to get in the car, pick a direction and drive, no destination in mind, just go see what we can find. I live in Iowa and there are many many things we have not seen yet.

Hello, Aww, hopefully your hubby will finally find a way to get finally go on a trip with you. It would be nice to get away from Iowa and see other places, things, and people haahah. I've never been to Iowa and I don't know how it's like over there. Maybe later on in the future my hubby and I will drive across country and pass by your state, hehe.

I dont care for road trips because I dont like spending a lot of time in the car wich is pretty much what you do on the road. And It just gets very boring when your in the car for more then 3 hours at a time at least for me it does. Wich is why I dont like going on long road trips.

hi, well it ain't for everybody. you must be an indoor person or a party goer. for outdoor people like most of us, we love seeing new things and new places. it helps keep our minds from thinking too much and stress. it's nice to get away sometimes. I appreciate ur response.....................

Hi, Family trips do sound fun! My hubby and I still have no kids after being married for almost 2 years now. So, unfortunately it's just he and I when we go out and travel. We love to fly but road trips are more affordable nowadays, despite the gas prices going up I still think it's cheaper because you tend to spend more when you purchase airplane tickets, at the same time hotel, and rental car. = ) Can't wait to have kids and go on trips sounds more fun.

Hello, Thanks for joining my discussion haha. The grand canyon is such a wonderful place to see, with stunning views, and high elevation. To tell you the truth, it's kinda hard to breathe up there lol. My hubby and I were running out of breath, literally lol. The grand canyon is a large national park located in the Arizona state. Very long drive from california, where we live. Hopefully, you'll get to visit it one day = ) .

Hi, Road trips are fun especially when you do it once in awhile. For me, I wouldn't mind doing it every month if it was possible haha. It's fun when your destination is a place you haven't seen or been to. Anyway, flying is pretty fun too! = )

I have made a few road trips and I love them. Pack the car with your luggage, maps, loose change for tolls, food and water and be on your way. I have had 2 road trips from New York to Florida. I also have gone from New York to New Mexico. Unbelievable trips that I love and hopefully will do again some day. Maybe from New Mexico to Florida to see my parents.

Hey, I love trips too! = ) My hubby and I actually forgot to bring a map, but good thing he brought the GPS. It's much better than a map because you just listen to what it says, tells you where to go basically. Sometimes, gps makes it more complicated and makes you take the longer way lol. Wow, you went florida from new york? That's like 5 or more states away from there haha. Sounds pretty fun and interesting though. I have not been to new mexico but I've been to florida where my hubby is originally from. My hubby drove from florida to california when he got stationed here, the drive took him like 4 days. It sucked really bad for him, because he traveled alone.

hi, thanks for the response! you also made a great description a great scenic view. I love nature also. we love to drive around an area like the highway right on the coast where you can sometimes see the sun shining down on the ocean and you see how the water glistens. It's so breathtaking! that's my favorite thing about living on the coast. = )

Road trips are okay if you have the snacks to go with it. No snacks equals no fun. I'd say the best road trip I ever had was to California a while back and I live in Texas so it was a distance. I was just a teen then, I slept the entire road trip there and at night time I was the only one hyper and up because my parents had not slept yet. I don't live around you and the canyon sounds interesting.

Hello, I must agree with you that road trips are better when you have snacks in the car, and plenty of cd's for music lol. We love stopping at gas stations everytime we'd run out of snacks to munch on. We would run out of water and soda pretty quick and so I think we stopped at every convenient store we'd pass by. Tx to cali is a pretty far distance. I can't imagine doing a trip like that lol, that's like a whole week of a trip. Thanks for your response =) .

Hi usaflove, I like road trips as long as there aren't any constant winding roads, as I tend to get car sick (I also have to avoid rollercoasters), lol. My hubby and I have thought about one day moving to northern Nevada or northern Arizona, can you tell me what your weather was like when you were there? Dry or humid? Thanks for your time and for posting this topic.

13 Jun 09
Hi, How are you doing? Hehehe, I get car sick too if the trip takes more than 9 hours. I get headaches and I get a stomachache. I can't stand it too much, but when I'm not feeling sick, I'm loving the trip. The weather in nevada and arizona was real dry and hot. We had to keep our A/C in the car on the whole time we were driving. The road that we took was pretty deserted and hardly any population or houses around. If you move out there, maybe you should live in a populated area. I can't imagine how scary it would be at night time, hehe. Good luck!

hi usaflove.... raod trip.....i love road trips.....i traveling alot..i generally travel by bus or i heir a car....as in India it is very hot and people generally avoid to take road they prefer trains as it is much faster but the enjoyment traveling by road is awesome......i have many memories while traveling....as i am very fascinated with trucks and cars i love to watch these huge semis speeding on the highways.....i and my friends generally plan such road trip to different place......i have seen people vomiting while traveling but never have any such problem......i still remember my one trip......it was from new jalpiguri in to Gangtok.....it was a full 12hr drive and that to in the night......i was through the hill......the road i can still remeber was like on one side a huge mountain and on the other a huge drop....into a freezing river.....and i was only one in the bus who had not slept the entire night.....this was the most amazing moment of my life......

How are you? GLad to hear you had a blast! Hopefully it's not the last = ) . I've never taken a train anywhere. I've taken bart, so maybe I have nevermind, haha. You say you like semis speeding on the highways? Phew,.. they are pretty scary if you ask me. When my hubby and I went on a road trip to arizona, they were speeding and they were everywhere. Semis are scary especially when they're literally right beside you on the road.

Sounds like a fun trip, I rather like to drive than fly. I can sightseeing along the road. It just my opinion. Although it will be tiresome, it is worth the trip. Honestly, I never been to Grand Canyon, andh hopefully one day I have time to visit that place.

Hello there, Yes it's a real fun trip that you should try to go see one day. You sure won't regret it. It's real tiring but you'll enjoy it. Away from home, and forget about all your problems, hehe. I like road trips a lot too, but I'd rather fly if the destination of the road trip will take more than 12 hours to get there. What other place would you recommend for people to go see?

I love road trips. Love is an understatement. At times, my partner and I just decided all of a sudden and hit the road.It is so relaxing to take in the views, the smells, variation in the scenic beauty. Play some wonderful music and get going! I love it all. We lived in San Jose and we drove down to Nevada,LV and then stayed there for 2 days. Then we headed off to Grand Canyon. Did that in Atlanta too. Drove down from Atlanta to Florida. Great topic for discussion. Happy myLotting!

Hello! Thanks for the interesting response = ) . Yes we love the scenic views and seeing all kinds of things. We usually stop for the br and for gas. Heading to nv from cali is a pretty long way and I don't think it's a great idea to keep going without stopping anywhere haha. My hubby is from florida and when we flew there, we spent a week there so we drove around the state and to Georgia. Loved it!

Oh wow!! This image describes the beauty of that place!! Actually, I reside in India and haven't heard of Grand Canyon. Would you mind describing something about it??!! Well, I do like road trips but I have a problem since childhood. I can't travel for long in either buses or cars!! I start vomiting if I sit continuously for more than 3-4 hours..and haven't been able to sort it till now!! lol..

Hey, Aww, too bad you don't live around here to experience and see the beauty of the grand canyon. It's a long, long drive away from our place but it's worth the drive. It's a pretty big national park and there's lots to see. Unfortunately, we were really exchausted that day, and we didn't get to walk everywhere around it. The elevation is too high up there and we were literally running out of breath most of the time we were walking enjoying the view. The view is breathtaking! Too bad you get sick on road trips =/.
