I think the money would have to be on Spain, given their excellent current form. I think they along with Italy would be the odds on favorites. Every year before the world cup, Confederations Cup has been won by the defending World Cup champion till now so that means Italy!! Cheers! Ram

I think Spain have been with the Wooden Spoon too often in international tournaments that at least now that they won the Euro, then might want to win more tourneys... They will be hungry that way... Cheers! Ram

It seems like most of them think spain will win.. but i think it would be nice if there will be a surprise, like an underdog team who will come up and win it :)

I feel Spain, Italy, Brazil and Egypt are all capable of winning the on-going Confederations Cup in South Africa. The Spanish team is favourite of course but anything may happen. For me, Brazil has not been so fantastic, the win against Egypt was just by luck. Moreover, the team defence line is so vulnerable which will not count in the team's favour if it is gunning to win the competition. Despite Italy's one nil loss to Egypt, the team is still a strong contender for the coveted trophy. I hope Italian players will put the loss behind them and play their heart out in their last group stage match against Brazil. Brazil and Spain have both qualified for the semi-final stage. The matches Egypt played against Brazil and Italy point to the fact that the team has potential and that the Egypt's manager, Shehata, is a very intelligent tactician. So far so good, Egypt has done the whole of Africa continent proud and Spain should better watch it! New Zealand and USA are out of contentdion for the trophy, both teams are already eliminated from the competition. South Africa can't count on home support to win. The team has some potential but I just feel that most of the players are playing below their best. Iraq is not in this competition to win but to prove a point that the team, despite the protracted crisis in Iraq, is not a push over. Iraq is here to act as a spoiler.

I am very much hoping for Brazil to win, but as someone mentioned before, Brazil's defence clearly needs some improving; sure they can score quite a lot of goals in a game, but if they keep letting goals in, there is no way they can win (just look at Brazil 4x3 Egypt, for example). Spain is also doing very well (and so are the Netherlands in the qualifiers), mainly because of Torres' speed and skill.

How has nobody said the Italy will win the Confederations Cup. Defending World Cup champions! They have the greatest goalkeeper in the world in Buffon and players like Toni and Rossi coming off the bench. The Italians are a very tough, physical side and they will win the Confederations Cup

Most impressive so far has to have been Spain. They seem to have a good attack with Torres and Villa, and a steady enough defence. Brazil can probably score as many as Spain but will let more in. Italy would be my outside chance, for no other reason than you can never count them out of the running

I think spain has got the perfect team combination to win but you never know.....Spain had never won Euro and this squad got them the euro....i also think that is clubs of the country are strong and have won something big ...like barcelona won the champions league.....has a great effect mentally on the players and team. they feel more confident but as i said it before it is football ou never know....i also think brazil would like to win to get the respect back which they have lost after the poor world cup performance.....
