Reusing disposalbe swim diapers???

Does anyone know if it is a health hazard to reuse disposable swim diapers? I know of someone, who is way too obsessed with accumulating money. They have gone so far as to reuse their disposable swim diapers. They use them on their toddler. After swimming, they smell them and if there is no scent of urine they hang them out to dry and reuse them. I am thinking how can you possibly smell urine on it with the smell of chlorine? What about bacteria? That is to me like wearing dirty underwear. I realize chlorine is supposed to help with germs in a pool, but those diapers are made to absorb and lock in urine. The toddler also has a terrible rash. Is this coincidence? I am all for saving money especially in today's economy, but not at the sake of my child or their health. What do you think?

The fact that it is called disposable is that they are supposed to be disposed of after using it once. Reusing it would just pose some harm to their children which I think is the cause for the rashes the baby is suffering from. Once it is exposed to the elements no matter how chlorinated it was it still is not safe anymore as it is not sterile anymore. Since it is exposed to various condition it is obvious that bacteria might just grow there with urine or no urine.

I didn't know there was such a thing, but if it's disposable, then it was meant to be used only once. If the baby has a rash in the same area where the diaper goes, it's likely not coincidental. The parents must consult a doctor about it. You're absolutely right about priorities. We need to save during difficult times, but not at our child's expense.
