The windows are open again

We have not really used our air conditioner this year. We're trying to save on the electric bill and it's not been too unsufferably hot yet. One day we turned it on because it was raining so hard and we had to close the windows. But as soon as it was done raining, we opened them back up and it was nice and cool again. The other night it was really hot in our bedroom and I woke up early from the heat. I came downstairs and noticed it was cooler and fell asleep on the couch. My husband figured he'd turn the A/C on since I had been hot. Well, it was nicer outside than it was inside after a bit so I turned it back off and opened the windows again. He did the same thing tonight. I was suffocating in here and it was about 8 degrees cooler outside so the windows are open and it's cooled down tremendously! Do you have the air conditioning on or the windows open? Do you keep your windows closed all the time?

It never really gets that hot in England ,we tend to use fans in the bedrooms with the windows shut if we rest during the day as the hot air comes in and make it worse.I normally manage at night with the window open. Some people do have air con but it is so expensive to buy and run,all the time we can manage without it we will.It sounds like it gets really hot where you are for a long time.Saving energy is very important and money of course. It is not worth the expense in this country unless you are rich.Keep cool, some people have a bowl of water in the room to dampen the air try that.

I live close to Washington DC and during the summer it can get up in the high 90's, but with the humidity it's like 110. We try to keep the A/C off as long as possible, but it's almost a necessity - although I never had it while I was growing up...

That is really hot and humid how do you cope.Mind you we never had central heating as a kid ,I have it now and could not manage without it,the same with your air con turn it on save somewhere else.It makes me wonder how our parents survived they must have been very sturdy people.my son would never know what it is like to be to cold or too hot as he has a fan,we never had anything like that but am glad we have it now.

I've always lived in this kind of weather so I'm kinda used to it. It is nice having the luxury of A/C when you need it though!

I keep the windows open as much as I can to save on the electric bill and to air out the house and have some fresh air. It has been so hot for about a week that I can not be without the air conditioner during the day and most times at night too. The humidity here is so bad and I just can not take the heat. I will get sick and have seizers.

I love the fresh air! And the lower electric bills... It's pretty humid here too, and with all the rain we've had it's bad right now. We're going to turn it on this weekend while we're away because it's supposed to rain and we'll have to close all the windows.

Oh I can imagine. You have your baby there to worry about to. Don't want your baby to get too hot. I turn mine on too when I leave because the house will be shut up and my four babies won't get hot. Unless I'm just going down the road and I leave everything open. I don't think anyone will come in here with my big baby here, my rottweiler. He even scares people that come up and knock on the door. Before I can get to the door they are at their car. I look out and they are driving off. Later some have come back and said that my baby scared them off when he barked. lol He keeps off sales people.

I like to open the windows when I can. It's been cool enough here that I've only used the AC once this year and that was last night. It got fairly hot during the day and this house has a window on the west that heats things up if I don't remember to close the curtains. I just have a fan going now, though, with a couple of windows open. I much prefer to have open windows, but can't stand it when it gets over 90 or so in the house.

Usually 85 is our breaking point. With the humidity, it's just unbearable!

I didn't use air conditioner this year yet. I prefer to keep my windows open. Also, my bills are so high, I need to safe money and not to spend to much for my electric bill. If there is humidity problem, I run dehumidifier and it takes less energy.

It's very humid around here, and I'd be emptying a dehumidifier all day long... We just tough it out as long as we can, but once we can't sleep at night then it's time to turn the A/C on. I would much rather have fresh air though...

We always keep the windows open because it is hot in our region and we do not have air condition at home. We keep it close whenever there is a strong typhoon to keep the rain from coming in our house.

It's supposed to rain this weekend and we wont be home so we're going to have to close up the windows and turn the A/C on. I'm hoping it wont be raining where we're going!

During the day time you will need to half open your windows so that air can get inside, that will prevent the house from having all that heat inside when it gets closer to your bedtime. If the place is hot turn on a/c for half an hour to cool down the temperature and then turn off to save electricity.

Until it gets too hot, the windows and ceiling fans do very well. But when it gets over 85 it's just going to be too hot and we'll have to run the A/C all day/night long.

The A/C in the upstairs does not work. The windows are open, fans going. It was so hot this morning that I turned on the Air downstairs. It was on all day, but it is off now. I am heading upstairs to bed, and will hope it is cool enough to sleep. I usually do not use air until after July 4. We have a freestanding roomsized air conditioner upstairs, but it always puddles the condensate, we cannot get it to drain properly. I prefer fresh air most of the year.

I would much rather have real air than have the house closed up. I can stand it pretty hot sometimes so I'm ok with the A/C off most of the time. It's been pretty cool here lately so we really haven't needed it. Usually it's on the whole month of June.

I've used my ac a couple times this year - about a week ago actually. It was really hot here and i was home for the day so i turned it on. Generally when i'm at work i dont bother turning it on. I leave the windows shut during the day to keep the heat out then when i get home i open my windows and cool the house off. Ifits still really hot out I'll leave them closed and turn the AC on for a bit. I Always have my bedroom window open when im home. It just feels too stuffy with it closed when im trying to sleep.

If I close up the house when I leave it gets WAY too stuffy in here. I'm not sure the dog would like it. We do get a breeze so it keeps it a bit cool. But if there's no air circulating then it's time for the A/C.

We turned ours one too. It's most likely going to stay on all weekend if not longer. It's just getting way too hot.
