How do you make friends on mylot?

When making friends on mylot do you actively seek out new friends by adding them, or do you wait for other mylotters to ask you? Maybe you do both? Also what qualities do you look for when adding a friend to your list, or responding to a friend request? Do you add everyone or are you selective? Should we be careful of who we add to our mylot friend list?

When I have started a discussion I will sometimes look at the profiles mylotters who have responded. If they seem to have similar interests I will request them as a friend. So I do go looking for friends. I also accept friend invitations after checking out their profile.

Yes I think it is important that you share similiar interests with your mylot friends. I like to check out my friends discussions. I find those with more interests in common usually have more interesting discussions. Thanks for your response:)

Well first of all I'm kind of a sucker when I see a person with a kitty avatar...so often will ask them to be my friend. I tend to stay away from the friend collectors here...the type that collect a lot of friends so they can spam with their referrals of which I'm NOT interested--one clue is when you look at their profile and often they haven't been here long and have banners galore of referral money making schemes and over a thousand friends...no thanks--uh, just asked you to be my friend--love your kitty photos on your page :-)

Hi, and thanks for the friend request, which I have just accepted:) I love taking pictures of my cats. They always look so cute:) Your profile photos look beautiful, I love the photo of your black cat in front of the crystal ball. Yes, I think that is another important thing to look at before adding a friend. I will try to keep that in my mind as I mylot in the future, as I don't fancy being spammed by prospective mylot friends. These type of friends make you seem more like a statistic than a friend to discuss ideas with. So some good advice. Thanks for the response:)

Well, let me start by saying thank you for the friend request! I go into long periods of inactivity on myLot, so I have not really actively pursued friendships. I don't have very many friends here, but that's okay. When I'm active here, I will only have a few friends to "catch up with." When I have received friend requests, I do a quick glance at their profile, to see if we share an interest or two. I have denied those that have only one or two discussions, which are only about joining their other money-making programs.

Hi, thanks for accepting my friend request:) It can be good to only have a few friends sometimes because this can make it easier to become good friends rather than just a statistic on a list:) I do not get too many friend requests, but some of those friends I have made so far have been really nice people. I agree, looking at the person's profile can be a really good indicator about their interests. I have had a couple of friend requests from people who seem to be adding lots of mylot members to their friend list and they do not have any mylot activity. One asked as soon as I joined, and I added them because I was new and didn't know about looking at their profiles. But some others have also asked recently, but I am a bit wary about adding them now. I don't really know why they ask if they don't want to participate, it is really strange.
