Have you ever been scammed?

I could remember way back when I was still a college student. I was still in first year and I was with my good friend. We were on our way home and while waiting for a public transport, some guy was advertising something while his friend was like pulling people to surround them while the friend was like explaining something about herbal meds of some sort, before we knew it, we were being sold something and were lured to buy them. It was just a few pesos and all but we really felt scammed as we left the spot. They didn't force us really, we just 'fell' for their words. We knew it wasn't effective (the product) but still we bought it. Weird! Now, have you ever been scammed? What did you do about it? We didn't really do anything at all. We just laughed as we walked out of that place realizing we were really scammed. We avoided such spots and just laughed about it. I could still see those guys doing the same thing every day as I pass that street, until now. It wasn't really something illegal because they didn't really force anyone to buy, I guess they just had these luring words or something. Anyhow, once you're scammed, they can never scam you again. What are your thoughts? Experiences perhaps?

I've almost been scammed twice. Once was when I went to an interview with a sales/marketing company, and they hired me on the spot, asking me to come in and see what the job was like one day. I did go in that day (without being paid, go figure) but later found lots of reports on sales/marketing pyramid schemes on RipOffReport.com (I highly recommend this website for any scamming resources). Thankfully, I never started there, as I'd have been working 9 to 10 hour days for about 5 dollars an hour. Before my husband and I were married, we had to go downtown to get a marriage license. We parked in a lot where you had to pay by the hour. When we came back, the lot attendant said, "That'll be twelve dollars." It was a good thing we looked at the sign, because we'd been parked for less than a half hour, and anything under a half hour was six dollars. We told him that, and you could tell he was ticked that we'd read the sign. I suppose a lot of people don't and just hand out the money, so he expected us to do the same. The website I mentioned above, RipOffReport.com, is one I would encourage you to go to and submit reports on who scammed you with the details. You can submit reports on anything from crappy service at restaurants to faulty fortune tellers to paid-to-work-online scams. It's one that has helped me quite a few times, and if you submit a report, you might help others who could be scammed next. :)

It's true that we are usually scammed because we neglect reading and understanding rules or information properly. Thanks for the site, I hope everyone would not go through the same scams as reported there in that site.

Some scams are so well arranged... My friends joined a program for one year, got nothing worthwhile with it and lost there money and time. The interesting thing is they still believe in that system and will join it again but for the time factor... I think they could do well though had they been as cunning as the scammers themselves. But then they would not be my friends LOL Sorry I twisted your question badly. For me, yes I have been scammed once, online, and what I lost was merely one dollar and a lot of self-respect and pride.

Hi, laydee! I think everyone's probably been scammed at one time or another. I've become very wary of just about anything offered to me, and I check into things carefully so it won't happen again. It wasn't a huge deal, but annoying enough to avoid any other scams if I can. Of course, one of the reasons there are so many scams out there is that people can be very convincing and get away with it often enough to make their money.
