There's now a new task from Sharonbucks. They are asking us to download a test software and in return, they will pay $0.75 for completion of the task. They had tested the software and confirmed it's virus and spyware free. The software will not interfere with anything that runs in your computer. Well, the question is: Will you do such a task? Why and why not?

I have done this task an hour ago. To do it is easy but am a bit worried what exactly this program is testing. I sent friend request to Sharonbucks so I can ask her for how long should this program be installed. As I don;t think I will keep it on my pc for a long time.

I do hope you get your reply soon. If you can, it will be helpful to all if you can post the reply here for all to see too. Thanks for replying, and happy mylotting to you.

You get paid for 'downloading' it. There's nothing about actually 'using' the software. So I'll do the task.

Er, they said the task was not just to download, but also to help them test it. "Testing" here means using it. Read the first line in the task description.

Yes, inedible, you're right. I believe you will have to run the program after it's being downloaded. However, after that, you need not do any other thing. Mylot will then have to verify you have indeed downloaded it.

I meant you don't have to use it. Because you get paid for downloading it, and not using it, as they can't say if you're using it or not.

Hi, dolphin2406. Thanks for your reply. I also did receive the payment for this task too. As for the reply, you may want to wait for a while longer...

I have also downloaded and installed the software. But unfortunately, the task is not clear well about the running of software as like, how long we need to run and when our tasks will be approved. Also he has not even asked to install it.He might have thought that this as a well know fact and no need to ask.I am not sure what they software is actually testing in our system. I will be running this for about 15 days and will be waiting for the approval. Then I will uninstall it irrespective of their approval.

I have already accepted this task. I have downloaded the gopher software and installed it and also gave my IP address. I have also scanned the software with my anti-virus and it says that it is clean. Let us see now what happens whether my task is accepted or not.

I think we will need to run the program and install in our system too. If not, the downloading will not help them test the program. We just have to leave the program there after that until the task creator approved it. I will agree that it's a simple task, but some are skeptical about downloading and running of programs in their computer...

Oh, so you have done it. How do you find this task? Is it considered easy for you? Is the rewards of $0.75 appropriate and reasonable for such a task? Hope to hear from you the above views.

I have accepted the task just 30 minutes ago. It looks like an easy task. I just downloaded the software which was around 400 kb in size and installed it. Then I put my IP address in the box provided for and then submitted it. I do not know what we have to do after that. How many days we have to keep that software installed? I will wait and see.

I was thinking of doing it. Checking past topics showed that this SharonBucks seems to be trustworthy. Unfortunately, it needs the .NET framework thingie from Microsoft. I trust random strangers on the internet, but I don't trust Microsoft not to install spyware or security vulnerabilities on my computer. So... yeah, looks like I won't be doing the task. ___

Well, Sharonbucks is a mylot person. Previously, before all the rest are able to give out tasks to the rest of the members, Sharonbucks is the only one who can give out tasks to all. So, you are quite skeptical about this task, because Microsoft is involved? However, I thought most of us are already using their operating system, and we will usually still have to download from Microsoft the patches, etc... I don't know about others, but I will say I do feel that downloading from others are more dangerous than downloading from Microsoft... Anyway, thanks for your reply. Happy mylotting.

Well, I don't know if .net is a must have for every pc, or if every pc have it. However, coming from Microsoft, it should be safe. I rather trust Microsoft than others. I seriously do not think that they will need to install any additional things in our computer as most of us are using their operating system already.

.NET Framework isn't dangerous. Its a must have for your PC. Every PC has it. You probably have .NET Framework v1 or v2, but you need to be up-to-date and download .NET Framework v3

I am not sure yet. Does it report every keystroke to them? Are they researching where and when you visit sites? I would need more information first.
