Of all the states in our country, I have missed ever being in Montana, Delaware, Nevada and Hawaii. Eventually my wife and I would like to visit all 50 states, together. We would also like to get at least 2 ceramic coffee cups from each. Does anyone else have any travel goals? Have you any collections associated with your travels? Comments, please.

When you mentioned the states you yet need to visit, I believe I have been to all but Delaware. I may have traveled the tip of Delaware but not really explored the state. I love to collect spoons. They are small, unbreakable and easily displayed. In recent years, I collect things like cookbooks or things I can readily use. I must say that you will absolutely love Montana, it is called the big sky state for a very good reason. As we traveled through Montana, there was so much to take in the panorama of view from border to border was spectacular. Nevada is always fun and not just for Las Vegas, although I think everyone should see it once in their life just to walk through the buildings on the strip and experience the malls. The food is absolutely amazing. The terrain of Nevada is very interesting and desert-like in appearance. Now for Hawaii! We had the pleasure of spending approximately ten days in Hawaii before we had children. We started out on Oahu (main airport island) and saw Pearl Harbor and the Arizona. It is so beautiful there with all the orchids blooming. We then stayed in Kauai. The land and beaches are wonderful. We were able to see the small grand canyon of the island and visit Fern Grotto (take along your mosquito spray)! It is supposed to be the wettest place on earth. I'm so excited for you, you will love these states!

We will try to visit Montana for the very reasons you mentioned. We would like to visit Reno, Nevada for the Harrah Auto Museum, and also Las Vegas for the Museum about the history of the city. I would particularly enjoy seeing the Arizona. Thank you for your comments.

My husband and I have traveled alot around the country as well. We have been to just about every state west of the Mississippi except for North Dakota. We haven't been to some of the states in the East. I would love a trip to Maine...that would allow us to get through all the states we missed up East.

You will probably enjoy Maine. My wife and I made a side trip while we were in New Hampshire visiting my sister. We went to Montpelier, Vermont which has the distinction of being "The smallest State Capital in the country."

It sounds like you and your wife are enjoying visiting each state in your home country. I have been to California and Hawaii. My travel plan is to visit as many places on my travel wish list as possible. So far I have been to more than 50 different countries. Tvhe ones that I have most enjoyed visiting are Samoa, Australia, New Zealand, the Seychelles and Belize. I have a collection of costume dolls from the different countries I have been to. I have coins and notes from overseas like a triangular coin and a three dollar note.

I would like to see some of the unusual currency of other countries. My wife went to Canada several years ago and came back with some very beautiful coins and dollar bills.

We like to travel, too, and my hubby likes to buy at least a couple greeting cards from gift shops along the way. He buys way more than we would ever send, regardless of the sentiment, but if it is cute or a beautiful art print, he has to have it. So yes, we have quite a collection of those.

That sounds wonderful! I've mostly been in the eastern states and a couple of provinces of Canada. I would really like to go to all 50 states plus the 10 Provinces of Canada. But my husband traveled so much in the military that he would mostly like to stay home. He's interested in going to Ireland and Scottland, though. So you never know.

I've been in every state except for Alaska, but I haven't been back to a lot of states since I was a child. I don't collect any specific thing, but I do try to pick up something from every major trip that I take.

Wow!! That is a lot of travels if you and your wife have been in this many states together. My husband and I have been in quite a few, but I have been in more than him, and he has been to Hawaii which I have not. But being able to travel together and see new areas is enjoyable. We would Love to be able to travel more and see more but right now time and money is not there. But to be able to see New states and cities and see how others live is a good thing for sure.

Hello finlander60, I live up in Calgary in Canada and last year, for the first time, my daughter who is 28 years old and I drove down to Las Vegas. Every other time we have gone or I have gone, I have always flown. But the last time I flew I popped holes in my eardrums and it took 6 months to heal and now my doctors advice me to never fly again as it will probably happen again as I now has scar tissue that could rip very easily. So I now have to drive anywhere I go and since I love to travel it is okay, I just can't go to some places like Hawaii. I loved the drive down. I especially loved Montana with all the mountains and the lakes. The views were really incredible. I have friends that drive down to Montana all summer long to fish and camp and in the winter they go to snowmobil. It is about a 5 hour drive depending how far down you want to go. I am not sure what area they go to. My daughter and I are going again in the late part of May and beginning of June. This time we are going to take our time instead of driving right through, took us 24 hours last year. This time we want to spend a few days going there so we can site see and we will spend 6 nights in Vegas and drive back in 24 hours. Something like that, not all planned out yet. I would love to eventually travel to every state but I still am working and I am now single again as I left my husband 3 years ago so I can't see myself retiring anytime soon so I won't have the time yet to travel more and it isn't as much fun by oneself to travel alone. Cheers and TTYL my friend , Chris

My wife and I are also happy to travel. We concentrate on the food and the local tourist destinations, so we do not have the characteristics of goods, as you do. Happy traveling..

Hi finlander60! How are you doing? I have done a lot of traveling in my lifetime. I have been to just about every state in the union except Vermont, New Hampshire, Michigan, Ohio, and I don't think I've ever been to Massachusetts. No, I don't have any travel goals now. I wish I did but I'm living on SSI now and my family is helping me with my expenses. I enjoyed traveling when I did travel, though. I have also been to Europe and to Juarez, Mexico. My mother used to collect spoons from different places we went. I still have that collection. Also, I have several mugs and another souveneirs I bought from different places. Kathy.

Maybe you could talk them into coming to see you from Alaska. I think it would be worth trying, don't you?

I forgot to mention that I never have been to Alaska and Delaware, either. I have relatives who live in Alaska and I would like to go to see them sometime. Kathy.
