there is a saying here, if u want to be thinner, to eat a bowl of soup before the dinner, but if u want to add weight, a bowl after the dinner. because the soup is rich of nutrition, eating before dinner can help u eat less rice and food later, while not reduce the nutrition. the cantonese is very good at cooking soup. i'm only here, and begin to learn to enjoy and cook such a dish,lol... well, do u cook soup each day? and do u like eating soup? if so, when do u eat the soup, before the meal or after or just in the middle time?

Really? Can eating soup after a meal cause you to gain weight? I don't think I have ever eaten soup after dinner but sometimes I have soup and salad for dinner. I wonder if it makes you gain weight to eat the soup after the salad? Maybe I should eat the soup first and THEN the salad. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I never heard that saying before. I like that. It is easy to remember. If I do eat soup I always eat it before my meal. I don't think I have ever eaten soup after a meal. I don't eat soup every day but I do enjoy soup if I am not feeling well. Especially if I have a sore throat or something. That is when soup is really great!

When I eat soup, it IS my meal. I like hot soup except during the summer. It gets over 100 degrees here in Florida and the thought of something hot isn't appealing. I like soup because it tastes good, is inexpensive and can help one lose weight.

Hi,I am a cantonese too.My hometown is in Yunfu City.Have you ever been there? In my hometown, soup is also important to us,especially in summer. In my family,my mother cooks soup once a week in summer, once three weeks in winter. In summer,my mother also vegetable soup almost everyday.I always eat some soup before dinner, then after dinner,I continue to eat some soup.I like soup very much.I am a university student, during the semester,I seldom eat the soup in the school canteen, because it is slipslop and do not taste delicious.Generally speaking,I seldom eat soup in the middle time unless it is very delicious and atract my whole attention .

Hello! My hometown is located in a remote townlet of Yunfu City.Actually,it is a poor town in the city, which is famous for its fruits, such as litchi, wampee. As we konwn ,summer is very hot, just like a steam box.We lose a lot of water from our body,so we need to suplement a part of water to our body.In our traditional view, soup is more nurtrious than bioiled water,so we prefect soup to boiled water.Besides, people exhousts less energy in winter. Therefore,we eat more soup in summer than in winter. To be frank,I do not know how to cook delicious and nutricious soup though I eat a lot of soup through the year because my mother do not need me to help her with the dinner and I seldom have the oppotunity to cook for myself.hehe.... Happy working...

So, that explains why most of Chinese people are slim. I usually prefer it at any part of the meal. I love putting the soup right on top of my rice because the rice would taste better. I don't cook soup each day though.

hehe...i think u'r still have the impression on chinese that lived in the past. if u were here, i think u wont say so that they are slim, except some girls. some foreigners come here and also feel very strange, why the girls are slim, becasue the family treat them badly? in fact, all becasue they think nowadays the slim is a beauty. really not very healthy idea, i think so too.

Actually, I just finished a bowl of soup! I make soup almost every day now. I only have a microwave available for cooking or a very small crock pot. I use the crock pot to make my soups in. I have just discovered many spices that actuallly make the soups good and tastey! I am enjoying making soups!

I love chicken soup, be it from a can, my mom's version, or my own. How do you make a satisfying bowl of chicken soup? I add red rice, avocado, cheese, lime juice and make sure it has potatoes and carrots. And I can't eat it without fresh tortillas or if I am in a hurry, chipotle flavored tostadas.

I love to have my soup after meal, however I heard from others that it's better to drink before meal... sometimes, I will also drink soup while having my rice. I also like to have soup flood my rice.

I was brought up in a family that loves soup, I love soup and also my little boys. We always have soup included in our meal. We have soup WITH our meal hehehe, not before or after the meal. Sometimes, the soup itself is the viand. My youngest would request his rice to be placed in the bowl with the soup. Its great to sip on hot soup especially when the weather is cold or if its raining.

Hello yolanda19191 this is checkmail and often do prefer to have soup, its good for health in many ways.Mostly have soup as a starter before eating up meal in restaturants and at home when just feeling cold effects.Mostly use to have vegetarian soups at home and chinese restaurants, but still enjoys chicken soup at sundays when it is prepared for meal.Preferable considering to choose soup is only in some conditions, headache, fever, weakness, caught cold, etc.Its also a refreshing in nature so instead of coffee, prefer soups. It also can be cooked in diferent varieties so its just awesome, tasty, and easy to consume. Soups are the best part of a diet to keep you healthy. Goodluck.
