Shower Curtain, Open or Closed?

When you take a shower or a bath, do you keep your shower curtain open or closed? Why? I personaly like to keep my shower curtain closed when I take a bath/shower. It helps me feel more alone and peaceful so I could just relax. Plus I think if I let it open the water would splash on the floor and that's not good, and I would feel cold if I left it open also. So which do you prefer when taking a bath/shower, to keep the curtain open or closed?

well i ususally keep mine closed for 2 main reasons. one if i keep it open i feel a draft it gets very cold. and when i shut it. it much warmer and i feel so comptable. and then the second reason is i'm not aloud to keep the bathroom door locked. because i live with 5 other people. and when i lock it someone always needs to come in! so if i lock it i have to interrupt my bath get out and get back in. and if i don't open it i get in trouble by my mom she will say i'm being inconsiderate. so i rather just keep the shower curtain closed just in case someone comes in.

Same with me. I live with five other people, but luckily I usually don't have the problem of them barging in, and even if I did I would still want the door closed, because if I open the door and close the curtain, than there would be more of a breeze than if I closed the door an opened the curtain.lol.

I keep my shower curtain closed. It keeps water from getting on the floor. I have no desire to slip or clean up a mess. Of course every now and then I see my dog Sherlock's head peek inside. He's so cute. I look and this tiny little head with these big brown eyes are staring right at me. It's cute.

Aww how cute that would be. Only if he jumped in would it be a problem. Then he would shake himself off all around your house. You would have bigger problems then just cleaning up some water from the bathroom.lol.

Well I do not keep my shower curtain open or closed as I do not have a curtain. Instead my shower is in a cubicle and as my showers are so hot the windows always steam up anyway.

Well I suppose it depends if I am in the shower myself or with another person lol. Unfortunately it is usually just down to the temperature of the water.

Well it is hard to get your back properly washed without someone else being in there helping hehehehe

When I take a shower, I must have to close the curtain because I don't want the water splash everywhere and I need to wipe the floor after. It is fine to open it after when it is summer and the house is warm but I hate the feeling of walking out of the tube when it is winter... it feels so cold especially when our body is cold... even though the heat is on in the bathroom... still... And the other thing is if I don't close the curtain, my dog will keep poking his nose and try to lick the water off the tube and me! He is a big licacholic! :-p

Yes it's better to open the shower curtain in winter then in summer, but in summer you still have to wipe the water up so it's not that much better lol. If I had a dog then I would most definitly keep the door locked when taking a shower. Don't want all that door hair on me when I just took a shower.

Hi! I prefer to keep my shower curtain closed. I don't like to leave it open because of water on the floor, and i really don't want to make a mess when i am showering. Plus it makes me feel creepy if the curtain were open. I don't like the idea of someone being able to watch me shower.

I know!lol. That's exactly how I feel. Even though the door is locked it still feels like someone is watching me shower if I leave the curtain open.

I like keeping my curtain closed. The water would go everywhere and just make a big mess otherwise. Then there's also the creep factor especially if someone else is in the house. Though I did keep the curtain open when I used to take baths as a kid, but I don't think that really counts.

definitely closed. not because of the privacy issue but because water would be all over the place if i left the shower curtain open! then i would have a big mess to clean up afterwards!

Actually where I take most of my showers it is a stall like thing that has a door that opens and closes. I would never shower in there with the door opened, the water would get all over the floor plus it would be really cold in there too, the door helps keep the steam in there to help keep me warm. If I am at a hotel with a curtain I always close the curtain when taking a shower but if I am taking a bath I would close it half way.

I leave the shower curtain open in summer, but closed in winter. It makes some difference in keeping a bit warmer. One thing I would remind you is actually my lesson in past years. After using the shower, you must use the sprayer to wash the curtain. Otherwise, whatever left on it will easily stay there, and finally get it contaminated.

Wow congradulations you are the first responder on this discussion who actually leaves the shower curtain open any of the time I believe. I don't uses a sprayer to wash my curtains. If I see that they are getting to be to dirty I just throw them away and buy some new ones, so I don't have to be in the bathroom all day cleaning them, and also so I won't be contaminated.

I will keep my curtain closed, I even lock the door. I used to stay in hostel where we share our bathroom. I thought I locked the door and I did. But unfortunately someone opened it. I was naked at that time! There's no curtain to cover me! Luckily she quickly close it back while apologizing. That's why even locking doesn't make me secure enough.

Wow that must have been very imbarresing for both you and her. Yes that is a good point why you should always keep your curtains closed, even if you feel there might be no point too, but apperently many people on mylot do so anyway so that is good.

I like the shower curtain to be closed too! Like yourself, I want privacy and yes, to avoid the water splashing out on the floor. Once when I was taking shower, I thought why should I keep the curtain closed, since the bathroom door is closed as well. So I tried to keep the curtain open, but it's no fun! I pulled it back close!!

No offense but don't you think that's kind of personal. I was actually picturing the scene from Psycho when I first read this. Sorry but I think it's a much more interesting topic then whether I shower with the curtain open or closed.

Why do you not use a shower curtain? Do you have a shower that has a sliding door rather than a curtain, or do you just not have a curtain?

If I were taking a shower I close the curtain to keep the water from splashing out all over the floor, but if I am taking a bath, I leave the shower curtain open. i don't like to feel closed in when the curtain is closed while sitting in the tub. LOL God bless you and have a blessed day!
