Yayyyy, MyLot--Something New?

I don't know how long this has been in effect, but it used to be that when we got logged out from myLot and replied to someone's post without realizing it, what we typed in got "eaten" when the window informing us we were not logged in appeared, but now it is saved and when we log in everything is still there. Wahoo! That is really a big improvement. Had any of you noticed this before? Did you get miffed when everything you typed disappeared? Did it seem to only happen when you had just typed in a really long response that you thought was particularly good? Have you noticed any other neat improvements that I might have missed. Please share.

I have always done that and I realized what you are referring to there.. It is great now that all our answers are saved. I'm always someone who would forget to log in and sign in so to be able to have answers saved like that, is a great bonus. Really cool.. I think this is an improved one from mylot.. awesome..

I am always logged on.I usually go to mylot trough my email notifications and since I never logged off, I never really found that problem. Which is good because it would really "miff" me :) I'm glad that it works better for you now drannhh.

I never log off either, not intentionally...but sometimes I am writing along and go to submit and POOF it turns out that I wasn't logged in any more. It sure did miff me in the past. Thanks for the moral support!

Strange, that never happened to me yet. Hope it doesn't ever LOL That would more than miff me because it wasn't even anything I had done. In any case, things seem to be fine now, so that is good, right :) Have a wonderful day

I learned about this back when there was this like something new here in mylot... when we were automatically logged of when we are logged in but did not do anything here for a long time... then when we finally decide to respond to a discussion... this log in page would appear... and good thing everything that we typed will still be there... I think that is like a stroke of genius on the part of the mylot admin... since it will save us a lot of time...

I don't log off myLot anymore.Since I am always logged in, I don't face this issue now.But I do know exactly what you are talking about. When I was a newbie, I had the habit of logging off and I had faced this issue a few times.I would enthusiastically type up a post and then when I would try and post it. Gone!! Grrr.. I am glad that myLot finally changed this. Thanks for noticing drannhh!

Glad you haven't had that problem, cbeee3 and anangf both. I don't know why I get logged off most of the time, as I don't do it, but this time it was because I was using IE instead of Firefox on a new computer and so the browser had no history.

It's actually saved??? My second post on Mylot was a response to a discussion listed in my daily email. I didn't realize I wasn't signed in; I typed a large response and submitted it, then the sign in page appeared [I think, at least something that said I wasn't signed in and needed to be]. I looked for what I had typed but it was gone. :( Well, it served to remind me to make sure I signed in to Mylot daily. I also realized that any lengthy response should be first typed in a Word document and then cut and pasted into Mylot. However, I haven't done that yet; I've just been typing directly into the box and trying to post it as soon as possible so it's not lost. Yeah, I had typed a really good response to one discussion; but, after losing it I lost total interest in retyping my thoughts. Oh well, live and learn...

Or you could save a lengthy response to your clipboard now and then as an alternative to typing it into Word. Now we can just login and it looks like it is gone, but comes back as soon as we finish logging in. Awesome.

I've noticed this for a long time. I don't come here anymore, so I'm almost always logged out. It's very helpful.

Then I am doubly honored that you visited my discussion :-) I was reading your Twitter page tonight. I have not been active on there in a while.

Really!! That's a great news for someone who has always had faulty internet connection. No, I hadn't noticed it until I read your post. That reminds me only yesterday, my response wouldn't get posted for slow connection, I tried many times till I got logged out! Today, as I dug through the same discussion to respond, I found that my post was already there! What could be more good!

Hi drannhh! I have had many problems with my responses disappearing! But, it was never because of login issues. It was just because of some flaw in the mylot system that I have no idea about! It has happened to me many times! In fact, it still happens to me whenever I want send a private message! I have had that problem for the year that I have been here and mylot still doesn't seem to be able to fix it! But, I am happy that they have resolved whatever issue that you were having!

Though I have not been informed by a separate window, I will be redirected to the log in page after typing something and the typed content of mine used to remain as such. Really a good feature. But I am enjoying this for a long time and I don't think it is a new one. You might have been logged in always and that's why you failed to note this.If this is not available, then we will get irritation as we need to type the entire thing again.

Yes, I got a little irritated. But I should have learned by now when I type a really long response to highlight it and press control/C before hitting that post comment button :-)

Usually, when the page is idle for a few minutes, I have to be signed in again and my responses will not be saved. So, last night when it happened, I re-posted my response, but it appeared two times!

I have done that before, and that is when I wish we could edit our responses and delete duplicates. Oh, well...thank you for visiting my discussion.
