Do you go to sleep immediately or does it take time to get sleep?

Some people go to sleep immediately on lying down on the bed and closing the eyes. But some people have to read a few pages or watch TV and then only sleep comes to them. I usually think of some good thinks that happened at any time or think of God and pray in my mind and visualise that I am before God and then slowly I go to sleep. What about you? Do you get sleep immediately or should make some efforts?

I think the problem of not sleeping straight away is that we all have "circling thoughts" like we are trying to file away the day in various storage areas in our brain. Unfortunately we dont seem to be able to let go of those thought. Thinking of God and imagining yourself before him is a form of meditation, which clears the mind of all those useless thoughts, like "I will do this when......" "I should have done this....." "What will I do if........." Well done for finding a nice calming way to ease you into a peaceful sleep. I just allow all thoughts in and back out, without attaching to them. I usually fall asleep within 10 minutes

It is true that our mind and thought go together to make us not to sleep if we want to. If you are thinking when you are in your bed, you can not sleep. Either you are happy, emotional and sad when you are in your bed, you can not sleep. Secondary factor that you cannot sleep are the noise, the ventilation, if you are experiencing sleep disorder. If you are not having any problems in sleepign then one night you can not sleep its because of our busy mind. When i am tired i do not have time to think and minutes may passed and i am already asleep. When i keep on thinking someone or something i can not sleep even i am so sleepy.

Very true. I always notice this. When I am thinking of anything, whether sad, happy or just what happened thoughts, I lack sleep.

I have always had trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I am a very light sleeper and an insomniac. Should be insane by now, with lack of sleep!! :-) When I can't sleep I usually get on the computer and do job searches, or work, or email, play games, etc. Or turn the tv on to something boring... none of the above actually work well, but when I can't sleep it does me no good to just lay there.

Why do not you imagine that you are in a beautiful garden surrounded with lovely flowers in good colours spreading fragrance and you are walking through, may be slowly you will go into sleep.

I have tried everything imaginable. Nothing works for me. I am an insomniac. So sleep does not come easy and I don't sleep for long periods of time. Sadly.

It depends on how tired I am. Sometimes I can go right to sleep no problem but other times I have to read for a good half hour before I can fall asleep. There are more and more nights lately where I have trouble falling asleep but I think a huge part of that has to do with my mattress but we don't have enough money to get a new one because they are so expensive.

Spread some unwanted cloths on the bed and make it soft.

Well we just got a new mattress about 2 weeks ago and both my boyfriend and I are sleeping a lot better...so that is a good thing. We had gotten a really good deal on a brand new mattress that has a 15 year warranty.

I always go to sleep immediately. For one thing, i don't suffer insomnia. LOL. Everyday i have a lot of things to do. To study, to do dome part time job and do house work. I feel tired in the evening. When i lie down on my bed and close my eyes, i will go to sleep immediately. Sleeping is one of my hobbies and when i am on my class, the best thing i want to do is sleeping.LOL....

Today is Lahari Mriya's birth day. So you will have celebration at home or may go to temple for archana and spend some time with her answering her questions. Hence looks like today also you cannot sleep early.

I can sleep immediately. When I got home from work, I don't usually have a rest, but I do some of my writings to be submitted for the other day. So when I am about to sleep at night I can easily give in to sleep. there is no sleeping pills needed. I remember I fell asleep while I was writing an article and when I woke up, I have so many writings in my arms and still holding my pen. Could you imagine, I was so tired that time and I forgot to even stops what I was doing , I just fell asleep. Even during weekends, even at the office I can sleep for an hour. Maybe it is because of my system.

Sometimes I go to sleep right away, and sometimes it takes me a while to fall asleep. I guess it just depends on what's gone on in my day, and if it's still circling around in my brain. It's kinda hard to fall asleep when your brain just will not shut up. I wish there was an off switch sometimes.

Very true. There must be a switch to off our unnecessary thoughts to make us sleep.

I can only fall asleep immediately if I am very tired. I really hate it when I want to sleep but cant because my brin just wont shut off. I've had those moments when I could feel that my body was tired and just wanted to rest but my brain just kept on going. To avoid that I do some of the things youmentioned such as reading as well as I stay on the computer even playing games untilI just cant keep my eyes open anymore. Thats when I go and dive into bed. Problem solved.

It depends, when I have worked during the day time like working in the yard, swimming or biking etc, I can just fall asleep easily like 3 seconds especially those days, I sweat a lot under the sun, I like it becaus eI can go to sleep easy without needing to rolling on the bed until an hour to fall asleep. If I don't do anything during the day, I might have a hard time falling asleep once in a while and I hate that because it is irritating to lye on the bed but canot sleep...

Often times I can't sleep. Somtimes it is because there are things on my mind, others its because I can't seem to get comfortable (even though our bed is not even a year old and is very comfortable to lay on), sometimes its because I am overtired, and a few times it is because I've had a lot of stress during the day and my body is wide awake from it. Even without the above problems I have never fallen asleep before half an hour after laying down. I think part of my problems are hereditary. My mom always has had trouble sleeping and waking in the middle of the night. I find that I will wake up in the middle of sleep as well for no reason. I get so envious of my husband because he can fall asleep within a minute or two of laying down. I think though that is because he never worries or gets stressed. I've tried things like drinking warm milk, hot tea, reading, and these things just don't work for me.

Try to think you are in a beautiful garden with beautiful colourful flowers around you with good fragrance and walking in the garden enjoying all beautiful scenery and see if you are getting sleep.

Hey, Well for me, it all depends on how tired I am on that particular day. Some of the time, I am so tired, that as soon as I hop into bed, I fall asleep almost immediately. But other times, I have to wait hours until I fall asleep. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

I never try to go to sleep, I usually fall asleep after talking on the phone, watching a movie, or if I just feel very fatigued! I don't sleep normally anyway, so I can get this way at time of the day Taripre$

I get on the computer until I'm very tired to help me go to sleep. Then I have to make sure the room is nice and cold and I have my blankets snuggled around me. Usually I like to have another person in the bed with me, but I'm single right now so that is not an option! LoL! I sometimes read until I get very sleepy because I don't like to be on the computer ALL night. But, it varies on the night too.

It depends on how tired I am. There are times when I can get to sleep in no time if I am really exhausted and times when I have to roll around on bed for hours before i can drift off to sleep. =X In both cases, not much efforts are involve though, Lol ^^;

OH, once I lie on my bed, I am asleep! Basically I will only go to bed if I find myself really tired of the day, and needed a rest. Therefore, once my head hit the pillow, it's time for me to sleep.. If I can't reading a few pages (normally not more than 2) will lead me into my dreamland!
