Did you know on mylot you are not only suppose to read the opening of the discussion but also the comments? It is obvious that there are some people that dont even do that. I had a post I started yesterday that had the word referral in the title and guess what half of my responses were people trying to get me to sign up for them. The discussion however was about helping your referrals to learn the site they join under you so they will stay active. Do you have these problems where people arent reading what you are saying they just read part of the headline and comment?

Hello there. I'm sorry about the discussion you created and people didn't read. It happens quite a lot here in myLot: some users seems to be desperate for money, don't they? Well, we all know that we should read before we post. No matter if we are new here, or if we are old members, we all know that the least we can do is reading what the user is saying before we point out our opinions. I'm just sorry that many won't respect this basic rule, and will just go crazy trying to answer to as many discussions as they can. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

It's because people are just wanting to make the money off the site and don't really care about finding out what the questions are actually about. There needs to be some give and take as yes we are here to make some money, but also to help people.

I have heard of this happening, but I have to say that alot of the my responses have been pretty much right on... I dont know if it is that my discussions are pretty much a continuation of my topic or if people like what I right??.. but I have been luck so far!!! sorry to hear that, I like to read the whole discussion and skim through the comments as well before I do my response since I may or may not agree with others. Happy mylotting.

I get that alot to and sometimes I take it personally because you want these people to be honest about there opinion. I try to be honest about what I'm thinking about the subject but I know some just respond to get credit.

Well i dont read all of the comments in the discussion and the one that i'm really focused is the discussion topic itself because you would know what you could comment after it.. i scan the comment but not really read them ^^

The discussion i am talking about these people only read the headline. They didnt even have the courtesy to see what I had to say they just seen the word referrals and were all over it.

I half-commit it too. I read first post and first page, if there is more than 10 I just want to get to answer to that interesting discussion of yours! Reading even those 10 posts help you to reform your opinion to words and even to change your opinion in some cases. If you only write, you won't gather the information that is necessary to write a good post. Most of the questions are in that comment!

I guess things like these happens when people are in a hurry to make a certain number of responses a day, they no longer bother to read what the topic is about or if their response is really helpful or at least related to the topic. I always read what the one who posted the discussion has to say, then maybe browse through a few of the responses and comments before I post my own response.

I hate to say it, but I wish mylot would do away with this guideline. If I'm going to respond to a discussion I tend to avoid reading any responses or comments that it receives beforehand because it tends to throw me off as to what I want to say. I may however sometimes read some of the responses after I posted my own response. As far as responding to just the subject line alone, it's a good way to miss out on what the original poster was saying. Responders should have the decency to at least do this so that they really know what they are going to respond to, instead of just guessing, like what happened in your other discussion. It's funny, I started a discussion once where the subject line read "I got my 6 year old a tattoo". Apparently one of the responders had thought I'd gotten my son a real tattoo. Had they read the rest of what I had written in the initial discussion they would have seen I was talking about a temporary tattoo! This was actually a test to see who would and wouldn't read past the subject line. This seems to happen a lot too. I wish people like that would take the time to read past the subject line, instead of trying to make a quick buck (or in this case a quick penny or 2). Happy mylotting!

Most members here are just trying to increase their numbr of posts. It has happened to many times when members reply in such manner which are totally irrelevant from the main topic of my started discussion. I always read the whole discussion including the coments and then try to respond. I should say members before trying to increase their number of posts must improve the quality of their responses too.

Mylot says about 1.5 million times between the tos and faq guides that it is about quality and not quantity so they really are not helping themselves you know. It is pretty silly if you asked me.

Yes that does happen. It seems to happen most when I am really looking for some good advice. I find it the shorter I keep the questions of the discussion the better more acurate answers I get from people. I don't think people like to read more than a few lines, they start to blur the meaning after that.

Hi there! I remembered your post yesterday and I did respond to that. But after responding I never read all the responses.. I didn't know you received a lot of invitations to sign up. It's weird cause the post was clearly not asking for referrals or exchanging refs hehe. I always read the whole topic before responding cause if I don't read it, how am I going to make a good respond and answer the topic holders queries. It's always a good habit to read everything first. Ciao!

Thanks for reading before you responded. It is just aggrevating because it definitely had nothing to do with wanting to be someones referral. I just know there are a lot of people who say they have inactive referrals. I remember when I joined mylot a year ago I took one look and was like what?!!? I had no clue so stopped and took time out to play on the site. There are a lot of people who wont do that though.

Yes, there are only few people who is willing enough to give real help. It's a sad reality but, that's life.

Hello Keka. Yes, this has happened to me, but not often. One can guage by the response who has taken the time to read the entire question and who has not. I am glad that it is infrequent. Karen

I personally would not of even cared but I received tons of responses about sign up here for me and I will refer you. LOL That wasnt even close to what I was discussing. That is the only reason it bugged me.

It is not neccessary to read everything as long as you at least read the topic and not post something that is totally a different subject. I dont usually read every comment but I do at least read the original post.

At first I too did the same way, just reading the heading of the discussion topic and responding to it with my views.Later I realized that its good if I go through other responses before posting my views on it.By reading other responses and commenting them we get the idea of others on that topic. There by we can be more elobarative while writing the discussion.

All these people read though was the topic sentence they seen a few words that thought they were going to help them get referrals and started on it. It was so irritating.

I read the whole discussion. I don't always read all the replies. It depends on how many there are and how much time I have. But isn't it annoying when people only read your title and respond to something totally different from what you were saying in the discussion?

I always read the discussion and the comments before posting!I think we should gather the information from others and give the right response! Have a nice day!

Yes, it is important to read not only the thread starters message on post but also the response she write on the discussion. Although some mylotters do not read , they just answer straight way, so they are not actually helping out to answer the question but not that effective also when they convey since they redundantly ask the host. It is good to help referrals specially if they are your closest friends. But it is also okey to help someone who is in need here specially the newbies. Who want to make a shortcut by not reading the FAQs.

LOL, I do read the post but not all the comments most of the time I only read few of the responses on the first page. When I think I understand the jist of the topic then I post a response.

out the topic you mean..hehe, there are certainly members who used to post a reply not bothering to understand the whole topic same with not reading some of the responses..even if we don't read the whole topic but considering the responses of the members you will be able to understand the topic itself..i have posted a discussion and i got a reply that is really really OFF topic..and i didn't bother replying him because i might just get mad..and i don't want to have enemies here..

Yeah, totally agree with you. And if you don't do that then you might not respect the postor and he/she might don't quite understand your response and you would proporably miss a good chance to be his/her best responses.
