Hello Everyone, I just thought I would share this with you. We have 3 beautiful cats and we almost lost one last night. I bought a flea product to help my cats. My cats don't have flea bad but a friend brought their cat over who does and my cats picked them up. Anyways, I went out and bought a flea product to help them. We followed the directions and the next thing we knew our one cat was foaming at the mouth, was very warm to the touch, he was acting like he could barely see, twitching, and just going crazy!! I thought he was going to die! We called the number on the product and they were of no help, they were very cold and acted like they didnot care! We immediately started washing our cat again with dishsoap and got this crap off of him!! Our other two cats were also starting to act strange so we got it off of them too. The name of this product is Sergeant"s Silver squeeze-on for cats and kittens, kills fleas and deer ticks, repels mosquitoes, for cats over 5lbs. I hope I don't get in trouble for listing the product name but I just don't want to see anyone go through what we did. We really did almost lose our pet last night. This product should be taken off the market!!! Now, has anyone else used this??

r the cats ok now? that is scary. my cat is a spoiled indoor cat. one reason is because i dont want him to get fleas and i have to buy those flea products with lots of chemicals that might mess him up. i try to search for flea products with natural ingredients. some people on ehow.com have interesting ideas.

Have you tried any of the natural flea remedies, fifileigh? I've been reading a lot about them on the internet, but would like to hear from someone who has actually tried them. I did buy Brewer's Yeast tablets for our pets, but my husband didn't want me to give them to our animals. Then he called the vet & he didn't have any information about that product. I also read to use oils on dogs only like peppermint or lavender. It also said to put eucalyptus, lavender or rosemary leaves under your pet's bed.

I did get a list recently from a pet group that I belong to about flea treatments that are causing harm to pets. I know the Sergeants products were listed. We always try to buy the flea medicine from our vet's office, but it is so expensive, around $20 per tube. We have 2 big dogs & cats keep adopting us! We have 3 cats & one just had 8 kittens this morning. :) When we do buy flea medicine at the store, I always buy Hartz & have never had a problem. I hope you continue to contact Sergeants until they at least refund your money for the price of the products that made your cats ill. I'm glad to hear that they are better now.

It's absolutely essential that you named the product so that others can be made aware of this problem and avoid it. Use a proven brand like Frontline or Advantage.

Not with our cats. We use frontline and non of them have had any issues but one of our dogs (just one) had an allergic reaction to the dog drops and lost an amazing amount of hair. We had an almost bald black lab! It is growing back in now though still very thin. The other two dogs not an issue at all. They are like some people sometimes a persons allergic sometimes not. Foaming at mouth is a little scary though.
