Do you have different views on the duplicate discussions?

We see duplicate discussions quite often on mylot. I think when I see the duplicate ones, I still click in to check out because the creater might have different things to say about the topic, I most likely respond the same thing unless the creater has something different to talk about. So what do you think about it? Would you have different points of view about the topic the next time when you see the same topic again? Do you just post what you said at the last discussions on the new duplicate discussion? Do you add "duplicate discussion" tag after you post?

I still read even if it's a similar discussion. Like you I try to see if the topic holder has a different way of sharing it. What are the views different from the other. And if I could share a different view myself, I'll respond to it. I think discussions here are never really duplicated except if the topic holder will intentionally copy and paste someone's discussion. We all think differently and it is very unlikely that we could be thinking the same things about everything. Ciao!

It's true so sometimes smilar topics doens't necessary mean the content is the same as well!

I don’t mind duplicate discussions if it has been a while since they were posted. I recently started one that was previously posted and worded differently of course. The original discussion was over a year ago and I put a different angle on the subject and I don’t believe there is anything wrong with that. I don’t know if I would tag one ‘duplicate’ unless it was blatantly copied or the writer did it on a regular basis.

No, there is nothing wrong with that, sometimes when I post a discussion then I see it in the t ag that somebody has posted it like months ago/ year a og, I have different words and angles to talk about the issues so I think it is fine.

If I know there are discussions that the same, or has been discussed before, then I'll write a comment about it by giving the same link discussion before. If I failed to get his link, I don't comment on the discussion. Thus, I have attempted to reduce the discussion that is not necessary. Because, mylot not be able to prevent it. The members who have to make the discussions in mylot be fresh and enthusiastic. Happy mylotting...

i don't see duplicate discussion very often because i don't respond too many discussions in one day. Well when i meet similar discussions i still will respond with same content but not exactly the same wording. No i never add "duplicate discussion" tag after i post.

I don't reply to a duplicate discussion and I also really don't appreciate the people who create them. I figure if every member of mylot took the them to read the guidelines of creating a new discussion they would find that they should take the time and research their topic of dicussion before just posting it. If the discussion was already posted on mylot then you should just post your thoughts to that post instead of starting a new discussion with the same subject line. I believe this is one of the reasons that lately I do not find many discussions of interest to post too.

I think when a discussion is word for word it bugs me...or VERY similar and doesnt offer views it bugs me. But...the discussions that someone creates asking a question and sharing their own experiences interest me even if a question is similar to one posted previously its the experiences that are interesting.

Hi Mermaidivy, I don't respond twice to the same duplicated discussions. I presume that the second one will be deleted and also I don't want to give the same answer twice even though it would be an easy thing to do. I did enter a newbie one yesterday just to tell him that I'd answered the same question the day before, so that he'd get the idea to check and search a bit more first. I would be interested to know if these constant duplications do actually get deleted.

I wonder the same too because I always see ther second one might get even more responses than the fist one and I can see it for couple days since it gets so popular so I don't know if they really get deleted eventually or not.

Hello mermaidivy, I had read and respond same discussions too, becoz the creator(each creator)had different views with same topic. So,i still respond, but with almost the same respond i did with the first topic. No,i don't put duplicate discussion as tag after posting my reply.
