Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is my father's birthday . He would have been 85!I lost him 30years ago so I have been trying to remember all I can about him.I remember a big man with a bigger heart.He had a raspy voice.He loved jazz and R&B.I remember riding on his shoulders and going on car trips that ended with a visit to a bakery.And then there are the things that would have brought conflict.He was a Republican and he liked Nixon. He didn't like the smell of Italian food.I am a born democrat that loves Italian food.My mom told me he was homophobic. Me,I'm straight but not narrow. He was a Baptist and I am Jewish. But then my mom told me I would have changed his mind.I had him wrapped around my finger.Alli remember is that he was happy to be with me.So in honor of his birthday,I'll play the three songs I Know he loved andI will watch The Frost Nixon interview. Happy Birthday Daddy!

How nice of you to continue to honor your father's memory, sarah. Your thoughts drove home the point that we love someone in spite of our differences. Even though you and he were poles apart on certain issues you have enough respect to have loved him with all of your heart. I'd like to add my Happy Birthday to your dad also.
