unemployment frustration

i just finished college and i graduated last april. it has been four months and i still don't have a job. i have been applying for jobs since last year; a few of them called and interviewed me and said that they'd call if ever i get the job. but none of them called back. since then i have submitted my resumes to many different companies (so many that i have already forgotten some of those companies) and none of them still hasn't contacted me. i do follow-up sometimes and call them to ask if they have received my application but they always say that they are still reviewing applications and will call if i'm short-listed. i have always tried to look presentable whenever i am called for an interview and really try to answer their questions the best i can. and now i'm frustrated because i've been waiting for so long. i always tell myself to be patient because it will eventually come but i always go back to that thought where most of the people my age group are already working and i'm still not.

Hello, now day, job is hard to find and you should be aware of that too. you need to apply something that even not in your field but easy, it might help you get going a little bit. Another thing, if they dont have job opening and you apply then your resume will be long gone. looking for something or somewhere that have job opening available in order to put out your resume. hope it works out for u

Sorry this is getting you down It has got to be tough on you. I do hope you are taking into consideration that jobs are hard to find right now. It is to the advantage of the employer, to hire someone cheap, instead of a educated person that can do the job without questions, but requires higher pay. It is really hurting people like you who have worked hard for something ,you have not yet been given a fair shake . I am a firm believer that good things take time,in some cases longer than others. Have you considered, taking a job in another area of a company then moving up the scale,I know many people who have done this just to get there feet in the door of particular companies they are interested in. You say your age group ? Why would this be a factor ? Good Luck and keep telling yourself what you have been .You will have one heck of a night of fun when it arrives, unexpectedly to your surprise.

some of my batchmates already have jobs because they graduated early. me, i graduated late. although it doesn't really bother me that much. what i really want to happen is to be independent. if i have a job and i can earn money on my own, then that's what i'd like to happen. i guess i have been dependent on my parents for such a long time that i would like to lessen the burden financially speaking.

Hi, I know it is very frustrating. But maybe it is time to re-evaluate your resume and your interviewing strategies. Take a good look at your resume. Check it for grammatical errors, or mispellings. Have a couple of friends or maybe a former teacher take a look at it and tell you what they think could be changed in the resume to make it more dynamic. Also take some time to read a couple of books about interviewing techniques. In other words make your resume and yourself as sharp as possible, the competition is stiff these days so you have to be at the top of your game. Best of luck to you, I hope you get a job very soon.

I think your not alone since the economy is bad, and you can see thousands of newly grads still searching and hunting for the job they want. Some can't even stand to wait, they will apply for a fast food service crew. Now, i have nothing against that, because at least they are earning and they have a job, although the course they finish really are quite far from their dream job. Let's face reality here dear. One job is equivalent to 100+ applicants. The competition is so stiff, sometimes other companies favor "palakasan" system. If you have a good backer, you can easily get in. Companies would even hire those who have experience, so the newly grads would really have to struggle to find a job. Although some companies give priorities to newly grads. Have you tried call center jobs? This is the best possible thing to consider since we have lots of call centers there. Aside from that, check your resume, do you think that your selling yourself right to your employer. You should emphasize your forte so that at least they can have a second thought about you? Just be patient and keep on applying. It's still so early to give up.

yeah, but to tell you the truth i'd rather wait for a job that i may enjoy rather than think about the remuneration. of course as reality is concerned, the course a person finishes in college is usually not related to the career that he/she usually gets. as for the "palakasan" system, i don't really want that. i mean, i don't want to be employed in a job just because i have "connections" inside the company. i've always checked and updated my resume and really, there's nothing there to change anymore. :) and anyways, who said anything about giving up? what good will it make if i did? :)

May i ask you? what is your major in university?Be patient..I also have similar experience..I was unemployed for almost a year before working as a reporter for a production house that creates semi-documentary programs..It was fun, exciting then after 4 months i left that office ( but we still keep in touch )then i started working as an English teacher in 2003 (until now). Now i am still looking for a job.I left the institution i used to work as a teacher in November 2006, despite the fact that the location is not far from home..Why?It is time for me to find a new OPPORTUNITY outside..I started to feel bored with public class and i want to try something new:in company-class..Then i applied in several institutions and thank GOD i teach in different places for different institutions..sometimes it`s hard to manage time, schedule but i am trying to enjoy it.I meet lots of people from different background,profession.. I understand your frustration..but wake up!Keep positive, keep trying..don`t give up..and build NETWORKING!It`s internet era..we don`t know what happens next, where you are going to work etc..OK?

my major is agricultural business management. it may seem unusual but it's just business management to put it simply. although it was the major that i've finished, i AM keeping my options open. i did have part-time jobs before and most of them are informal. but i am being patient and hoping for the best. :)

Hey! It is the same here in India. Jobs are hard to come by. My younger son is a graduate engineer, passed three months back and is frustrated that he can't find employment. These are hard times. Have patience. I know it is hard. But the more the frustration the worse the decision you will take. If you show desperation the chances are that you will be taken advantage of and land a low paying job. Please bide your time. You will win!

Hi. I understand how you feel but you don't have to feel frustrated. It's how things are. You are not alone in this kind of situation. Many other people are experiencing this kind of difficulty in finding jobs so don't worry. Just keep your faith and never give up. One of these days you will get the job you want. One advice, though, since you are starting out it may help to not be too picky with choosing careers. Get your hand full with any decent job you can find and perhaps land on. From there, you can start getting the job you really want. Get some experience no matter how small the job is. With experience, you will find greater ones and will probably eventually land the job you want someday. And hey, it's just been four months. You still have a lot of time. If you want, you may find freelance work for the time being. You can find many freelance jobs in the Internet. Many of these do not require much experience. Perhaps you can start from there?

I'm so sorry to hear that but I really don't think that it's a good idea to be frustrated. Stressed? Well that's normal but frustration is something we should avoid. If you don't seem to get the phone call for an interview well maybe it's time to review your cover letter and resume. Maybe what you have been writing is not that convincing so that those companies you are applying to haven't given you any positive responses yet. Or maybe you should think about it in a different way. Why don't you just start your own business? It doesn't have to be a big business which requires high startup cost. You can ask yourself what you are good at and you can do the quick research whether or not people out there will need your service. Anyway, there's one thing that you should not forget. Prayer! It indeed has the power. Pray sincerely, work hard and continuous effort are the ingredients we need to succeed, don't they. Cheers!

Getting a job these days is not easy. A lot of companies are affected by the recession and they have not been hiring employees for a while now. A lot of people who have lost their jobs in the past still unemployed too so you really got a lot of competition out there. Anyway, do not lose hope. Sooner or later, the recession will end and companies will start hiring employees again.

Hey sorry to hear you're going through this. It's tough for especially freshly graduates to get a job these days but if you really want to get ahead I suggest you sign up with a recruitment agency as they will most likely help you find the job that best suits you. And also you may need to upgrade your resume and search online for free samples of resume presentation as that's also an important factor when applying for jobs. All the best

We have in the same field now, I finished my job Contract this end of July and here i am again looking for the job. i keep on submitting my resume through internet and sometimes i walked in, but until now they don't called me. You know don't be frustrated just enjoy your interview and learned from it, eventough you are pass or not just enjoy it, all the question you've heard put it to your heart. then be prepared for another interview. Don't loose hope. If the company doesn't called you after you interviewed. put it to your self that its not your lost its them. Maybe God Have some other plan for you and soon he will give you job that belongs for you. Good Luck!!
