WHAT? I'M 50? Yes, I just turned 50, hard to believe and wondering what happend to the years gone by. Is there a certain way to act, behave, talk, dress? My Kids adore me, yet make fun of me at times because of the music I listen to, the way I speak or act. All in good fun, however it makes me wonder how do other people view me? I mainly dress in jeans and t-shirts, listen to lots of rap music, every now and then some 80's rock of course, and have a passion for muscle cars. I see other Women my age and they seem to "act their age" My sister shakes her head at me and asks:"How old are you?" in a very disaproving way. She is 60 and listens to 60's music, polka etc. I'm not one who is "trying to act young" Im just behaving the way I feel, is this socially acceptable? What do you think?

Well, they always say in reality that you are only as old as you feel, and isn't 50 supposed to be the New 40? My husband turned 50 himself back in April and I turned 45 just the other day, but personally I think there is nothing wrong with wanting to keep up with things going on today and enjoying some of the Music of today as well. Who ever said as we get older we have to act our age? As long as you are having Fun is all that should count.

You are doing absolutely right! You are as Young as you feel and there should be no hesitation in telling the world that. By your own admission, the other women are "acting" their age. They do that because they feel and give in to the pressure to fall in line! You have dared to stay young, because you think young and that is natural. Turn a deaf ear to what people say, turn a blind eye to the disapproving looks. You are what you want to be, that is important!

Thanks for the compliment webearn, but I tell you what, that picture was taken last year and I don't know what happend but suddenly there are more lines, wrinkles, sagging etc. I've lost a few pounds since my Gallbladder surgery and thinking , OH great..I needed to loose weight, well I lost weight in my face too and guess what, SAGGING SKIN, oh well we can't win em all. Worry and stress will also show in your Face, working in construction like you have I'm sure has took it's toll, but I have stopped trying to erase signs of age with so called miracle lotions and potions . trying to keep the wrinkles away just makes me worry and stress which in turn causes more of the same. so instead i decided to go with the flow. Blessings 2 you !

You should act the way you feel and if you feel younger...go for it! I am almost sixty but don't want to listen to polka! LOL.....and it's nice to think younger because you stay that way..and besides....my grandkids think its wonderful! They like doing all the fun things with this grandma!

As long as you are not hurting any one, its okay to do the things you are doing like dressing up younger than your age. I mean there is nothing wrong with that.
