I've never experienced four seasons in my life. I see in the movies that there are spring, summer, fall and winter. Over here, it's either rainy or sunny throughout the year. I hope that you could share some of your thoughts and pictures about each of these seasons with me. I'd love to hear what it's like, the activities, the mood and others.

I live in Northern Ohio in the USA. We have all 4 seasons here. Right now its summer, June July and August. Warm and sometimes hot, in the 90's today, hot. Once fall comes the weather starts changing, the days get shorter, it gets dark earlier. It starts getting cooler, we still have a few hot days not many though. The leaves on the trees start changing colors and then they fall from the trees. Soon after its winter time, cold, snowy, icy. After that its spring time, beautiful time of the year. Its such a happy time, its warmer, people and animals seem to be happier. The days get longer, we see the sun more, flowers are popping up. The trees get their leaves back, the grass gets green again. Bugs come back, Birds that had flown south come back, they make their nest and have their babies. To me spring is a time of rebirth, its like everything is coming back to life a reawakining. After that summer, then fall, winter, the cycle keeps going. I enjoy the seasons, although I do complain about the weather at times.

Hi Polly. Thanks for the description. I guess it must be interesting to experience different seasons each year. You see different moods, do different activities (e.g.: summer - vacation; autumn - slow down; winter - have fun at home) - strange no one has mentioned Christmas yet :)

I live in the north of China. Three are four sensons here. Every senson has three months. It's spring from March to May. It's summer from June to August. It's autumn from September from November. Winter lasts from December to February. In Spring, flowers all blossom, trees ture green. In summer, It's very hot. The temperature is about 30--39 degrees. In autumn, leaves turn yellow and fall down from the trees. It often makes people feel lonely. In winter, it's very cold. Sometimes it snows.

Hi kariter, yeah. ..my students from China told me that it snows in China but not everywhere, is it true? Perhaps it's cold in winter in some places but there is no snow. Anyway, the duration for each season is the same as in Europe - this is something new to me. I've learnt something here. I can imagine the beauty in spring. Autumn can be pretty too although it is often associated with sadness :) Thanks for sharing.

Ahh the 4 magical seasons... unfortunatly they are influenced by the global warming... but I can tell you my view about each season.. well summer you know it so I have now to describe you of 3 seasons. In our literute the seasons were are are a great source of inspirtation for many writers and even painters. Spring it's caused by the ending of the cold winter and the nearing of summer the process is 3 months.. theoretically. Where I lived we had more winter and the spring was short but stormy. But it had it's beauty too, the firt flowers you see are white and beatiful they are the symbol of this season, they are called snowdrops in english in romanian "ghiocei". They are white and have three long petals and a small one int he middle they have a very slightly smell but good. There is another specimen with 4-5 petals and are called "false snowdrops" in traditionaly, they come after and their leafs resist more than their cousins till the middle of summer or more. Besides this the trees that bear fruit begin to bloom, some are white or pink or light purple there are many other colors too depending on the tree's type. The smell of the blossomed trees are wonderful and when the petals fall it's magical, it's in weddings everywhere petals fall around. the birds are coming and singing again and the bees and buterflies are flying around.. wish you knew our language cause we have a large collection of poems about our seasons. Now fall or autumn it has it's beauty too though there's too much mud lol becuase of the rainning. Here the air becomes cooler but the fruits are ripped and the gardens baring it's riches from the hard work which was done during the summer and even spring. The leafes change their color from green to red, brown, yellow, orange and black and even some pink ( I saw even if it sounds unreal I saw leafes having these colors, because of they become red later on). Then they fall the colors of the season is warm but seeing the trees losing their green crow is a little depressing. Here the weather is a little unstable but not as the spring is, the nights are colder and the flu season is coming. Now winter... endless ocean of pure white... the air can reach a freezing temperature and the winds turn your face red shortly after you feel as if you don't have a face no more. We dress ourselfs very thick but the winter is beautiful for covering everything in ice and snow. You can play snowball fight, build snowmen, even iglues and so on. The true magic is when it's snowing. Try picturing little butterflies flying frm up to down and lie there covering the sad grey or frozen ground with a soft chilling carpet of soft pure white. the snowflakes are small crystalls and you can see beautiful starlike shapes. The trees are all white and you see hills and mountains depending where you live covered like with sugar powder. I'll try to post some poems for you when I'll write or find some that might offer you a small glyph of our seasons. About the summer ok I'll you about this as well it's mainly hot but peple love it becuase you get a beautiful tan, in towns and villages it's the time where hard work begins planting, building etc. June here is the raineiest month of the year while July is the hottest, August too but since it's the end of the summer it can become rainy but calm and refreshing. I hope my descrption covered your need of trying to experience these seasons.

I live in Europe in a temperate country. It has summer from June to August, autumn from September to November, winter from December to February and spring from March to May. It is sunny and warm in summer and cold in the winter. Spring is fairly warm and light and autumn is fairly cold.

I just got to say, 45 - minus 32 and divided by 1.8 or is it 9 fifths....which ever. Is fairly cool, no matter what country you are in. That is the mathematical equation to get Fahrenheit into Celsius by the way, I know you all know that I just like saying so. 45 = 7.2 degrees, when 0 is freezing, but in Fahrenheit 32 is freezing. We will get it all figured out one day, I wanted to include that because I couldn't remember which scale Malaysia used. Cheers.

Hi Hatley, thanks for the reply. Hmm, I always thought that fall in cooler. I guess I was wrong, or maybe different States have different temperatures. Yeah, it's really a colourful sight, isn't it when you see flowers happily growing in the yard :)

Oh, i need to add. The climate here could get really nasty during the monsoon season. Though it's not comparable to the hurricanes that you get in the US, the floods here are bad enough to drown humans and destroy small wooden structures. And the weather could change at the wink of an eye. It's really hazy at this moment, and visibility is low. People have started wearing mask for two reasons - the haze, and the H1N1 flu.

here we have three seasons namely summer, rainy, and winter seasons. In summer season the temperature is too too hot it cannot be bearable and so lots of people wish to drink sugarcane juice, lemon drink, cold drinks and lots more of traditional drinks wish to know then tell me i will let you know. This is the profit making season for the cold drink sellers. They enjoy the maximum profits which is sufficient to live a living for around a year. Rainy season the season of growing crops as you already know as there is rainy season over there. Winter season loveable season or really a awesome season to visit hill stations and mountain peaks. In this season most of the people want to go for hill stations and enjoy the most there.

I guess you must be from northern India. You know, some parts of the Middle East also have snow. Hmm, i see that India doesn't have spring unlike in western countries. I love to see snow-capped mountain tops. It makes good photography material. Too bad we don't have it over here. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I am in a transition period so I don't have much access to pictures but I can tell you the rest. We will start with my Favorite Season - SPRING. It is still kinda cool, but the sun rises earlier each morning. You wake up after unlike in the winter when it sleeps in. You get the smell of fresh crisp air every day, a few rains, wonderfully colourful flowers springing up all over the place. We celebrate Easter here, depending on who you are and what you believe...anyways, lots of chocolate for the kids. After that we have - SUMMER. It is very hot, my skin burns under the sun quite quickly, so I like to wear long shirts where everyone else is wearing next to nothing. The beaches are packed full of folks, all sorts of out door festivals, the biggest holiday here is Canada Day on the first of July. The sun is always up really early in the morning, but near the end of summer it starts to sleep in again. Every one is sad to be at work, because of how nice it is outside. Then we have - AUTUMN. It starts to get cooler, and the sun sleeps in longer, then we change the clocks and trick our bodies for a few weeks and then back again. We harvest our crops, and the leaves change colour and fall off the trees, all the flowers die and stuff to get ready for next year. It really does get to be quite cold. Sometimes we get snow, we have Thanksgiving and Halloween in October here. Usually near the end of fall, we will get snow, icky cold white fluffy stuff that falls instead of rain. I don't really like the end of autumn/fall. And just after that we come to my least liked season - WINTER. It's COLD, the snow never goes aways. The sun hides almost all the time, it wakes up really late, goes to bed really early, and it is usually quite cloudy. Some folks, like to dress in warm clothes, and go snowshoeing, skiing, ski dooing, and/or snowboarding. We also sometimes see dogsleds. There is of course, Christmas, new years, and Valentines day in the Winter. Lots of festive things to keep our spirits up, so we don't kill each other because of the depressive mood the cold and lack of sun brings. That is my view on the seasons, and general overview. If you want to make this discussion really big, ask each responder a few questions more about what they wrote. Cheers.

Hi CJScott, very well written - and very organised too. Well firstly, Malaysia uses the Metric System, so for temperature, we use Celsius. Then we have other measurements like km (miles), kg (pounds), metres (feet/yard) and so on. So there's gonna be plenty of recalculations to be done:) I guess the only people who love winter are children. Why? They could build a snowman (and destroy each other's) or throw snowballs at each other's faces. Kids will be kids. Do you escape the summer heat by going to another cooler State/place? Yea, here in Canada we use the Metric System too, that is why I wanted to share. There are a few countries that use the Imperial, or the Standard system, which are similar though different, I had to learn a bunch about it in Culinary Studies. There are always calculations to be done indeed. Children to love the winter, I remember I loved the winter when I was a Child, but then I could dress warm and build snow forts. I even used to sleep in my snow forts, I found out later they have a fancy name for a hole to sleep in dug into a snow hill - it is called a quanzi. Or something like that. Do I escape the summer heat, no, I just use a lot of sunscreen, wear my hat. Dress appropriately, long loose clothing. Drink plenty of water. My sunscreen is always SPF 50 or higher. Cheers.

First of all my dear friend, it is not a fall as you said, it's autumn. So as you you know summer, i could tell you, what's happening in my land after summer: all leaves turns in other clours, they are not green anymore, they bbecome yellow, red, brown and after that they fall down on the ground and all ground becomes as a bi colourfull carpet. Sometimes people get sad about this thing because, they regret that the summer is over and the cold period is coming soon. However all kids are hapy about that, because there is lots of stuff outside to play with. As i was kid I enjoyed Autumn. Then week after week comes Winter. Days are getting shorter and shorter. Weather gets colder and then starts to snow. First time it looks like a miracle, everyone smiles because of snow. Sometimes it snows for weeks and it gets harder to drive acar in the street or even walk, because there is so much snow... On the weekends in the parks and sqeares childer with their parents, couples or just teens playing with the snow, this is soo much fun too. Me and my girlfriend always builds a snow man and go skiing to the city center on a big ice arena... So winter is very lovely too.. So just a Spring left. People calls the spring: Magic season. Thats beacese all the parks turns green again, comes out lots of blossoms and the birds come back from the warm lands.. It's good to feel how everything is changing and the weather gets warmer. People starts going outside more often and deep in the heart waits when the weather get's more warmer.

I used to see the beauty of snow in postcards and on television. Your experience shows that it is indeed fun especially for kids who take balls of snow and throw at each other. Yeah, and skiing... it's cool :)
