If you could not plant regular grass would you use fake grass

I was reading an article recently about fake grass, and it was interesting. I just don't think it is the same as regular grass. I enjoy working on my lawn so fake grass would not have the same appeal.

By fake grass, do you mean like astroturf? I wouldn't like that... if I didn't have grass, I'd rather have native wild flowers and plants. I would prefer that to grass even.

Yea, you are right about flowers over grass. I am trying to design my backyard to have more flowers and plants than grass. I think they are a lot easier to maintain than grass.

I would prefer to have regular grass and not fake grass. The color is a bit different although maintenance would be so much cheaper. Our Rams football stadium has astroturf instead of regular grass since it's indoors. Just visited New Mexico and they have gravel and dirt in place of grass at most homes. All they really need is a weed wacker to keep things trimmed and in order.

Not a chance that we would ever use fake grass. :) We bought two properties when we purchase the house we have now. The second property, right beside our main property is almost all grass but we will slowly replace most of the grass with small flower gardens and a big ole vegetable garden, so there won't be much grass left when we are done. I can't hold my arms out for long after having a heart attack that was in-operable and I can't stand seeing my wife out there mowing when I can't help her. Our yard will look much better with flower gardens and a few little paths going through rather than just lawn.

If I am going to have grass, it would have to be real grass. I love the way it feels walking on it barefoot - as long as it is well-watered that is LOL. If I wasn't going to have real grass I would have to look at river rock - I love the way that looks in landscaping.

Fake grass may be the answer to townhomes to keep the HOA fees down. Maybe in years to come the city parks are going to have fake grass.
