My kids went to Rita's Water Ice last week with their grandparents. My daughter tried their new water ice flavor called "Swedish Fish". She said it was really good. Have you ever had this flavor before? Do you think you would like it?

I would only have to assume that the water ice (is that like a slushie or a snow cone?) flavor would be that of the chewy, gummy candy called Sweedish Fish...which is very good..Sweedish fish are a red, presumably cherry flavored fih shaped chewy candy, a lot along the lines of "Dots" gumdrops candy, but shaped like small fish. If that is the case, it sounds good...but if it actually tastes like fish that are caught in sweeden, i can't imagine anyone would like a sweet treat like that!

They are similar, but not quite as hard of a texture. It is hard to explain, unless you have had one! It is more akin to a licorice texture...Umm..lets see...according to wikipedia what sets these apart from other gummy candies is that they contain no gelitan, which is what gives gummy bears their almost solid consistancy. They were originaly created in sweden, but the company that made them was bought our by Cadbury...they come in many colors and flavors now....but the original is the re one, which isn't really a cherry flavor, it isn't really a red flavor...it is totaly unique to this particular candy. here...i'll give you the link if you want to read a little more about them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/swedish_fish I had never ever heard of them while i was growing up in the midwest, but when i moved here to the east coast, they are very popular, you can buy them in single serve bags @ the store, or in bigger bags, and they are a very popular movie theater candy. Hope this helps some!

I never been to Sweden so I've never heard of water ice. Is that Swedish traditional recipe or what? Maybe you can explain to us how it's done and what water ice really is. A picture can help too. I think lots of us would love to know what water ice really look like.

I have no idea what water ice is either. Do you mean something along the lines of a slushie? or an Icee? Eitherway never heard of such a flavor other than the actual candy called "sweedish fish"

I'm from the northeast of the U.S. Water ice is also called slushies, gelatos, shaved ice, icees. It's crushed ice that is finely shaved and then mixed with some kind of fruit flavored syrup. Swedish fish is a candy that is shaped like a fish and is red and chewy.

I'm surprised you don't have them where you live. I thought they were all over the Northeast.

I have never heard of it before or tried it. We do not have those types of places close to where I live either. I would like to try that sometime if I can find a place that sells it.
