Today was my 3rd run of the week, My 6th barefoot run. It was my very first time going out without carrying my shoes. I felt great!! I do have a small puncture wound on my big toe of my right foot from stepping on a stone wrong on my second BF day. I am now running completely barefoot for my regular weekday runs. 3.5 miles!!!! Sunday of this week I will not be running barefoot at all. I'll see how I do with this run. I've been hating my shoes since I began this barefoot running thing. I love them for my regular shoe times but not for my runs. I now choose my running shoes for when we go out and about in the town. I used to avoid them because I was afraid I'd cause undue wear on them. Now I'm willing to beat them up.

Congrats on the barefoot running! I still hate wearing shoes too, but my ankles still have not completely healed so it will probably be quite some time before I can try a barefoot run again. Since I live in the city I can't really go completely barefoot as there is a lot of broken glass and such on the road. But I want to try some VFF hiking once my ankles heal. I did find something I could do barefoot though. Yesterday I started training for the bike tour of the marathon. I used the exercise bike to start with since it was too late to go on a real ride. I don't have those pedals that grip your shoes, so I went barefoot and used my stubby toes to give me a slight advantage. Now there's something that doesn't hurt me from being barefoot. :)

lol at the visual of your stubby toes. I hate riding a bike. I use the stationary when I'm being lazy but that's it. I have no aspirations to do a triathelon or anything because I hate to swim too. It's funny because I really admire those athletes but just don't want to be one. I'm watching some VFF's on ebay and will get them if they are cheap enough. I won't spend a lot there though because I haven't even tried them yet. The closest store is an hr away and the $70 to spend on them is quite a bit on my pocket book.

I drove over an hour away to get my VFFs and paid nearly $100 for them. They take absolutely forever to break in, but even though I'm afraid to use them for running now, I think I'll still get use out of them for hiking and stuff. And they are fun to wear. Yes, my toes are very short and stubby. It is ridiculous how short they are. So they don't really give me much advantage generally, but I can try to wrap them around the end of the bike pedals. I am a horrible swimmer and I probably couldn't swim in an ocean or lake, so I don't see triathlons in my future. However, if they had a race where you have to bike and run, I'd go for that! Even better would be a relay, where my brother could bike and I could run. Because he is a fast cyclist!

Yeah, running in VFF's gets easier and easier, best pair of 'running shoes' I've ever owned. The little insert that came with it they are supposed to have no break in time, but mine had to stretch a bit. Nothing beats running completely shoeless though, sadly I can't do that on this part of town. About the only places free of glass and other insanely sharp objects are my backyard and one of my cousin's yards (lives out in the middle of nowhere). About the only reason why I bought them.
