Has your star gone down or a discussion been deleted because

someone didn't like you? Maybe you disagreed with them and they have a vendetta against you? This has never happened to me, but I've heard of it happening to some of my friends and it's not fair. I didn't know that a discussion could be deleted just because someone reported it, I though the moderators investigated before they deleted discussions. Or is it all automated?

If discussions get deleted just because they are reported then what is the point of having the Admins??? If discussions get reported I am certain those reports are considered before deletions take place because many months ago I reported a discussion which I thought was a copy of mine. It was not deleted becauae it was only considered to be similar but not a repeat. If discussions/responses/comments are reported and afterwards are indeed deleted then it is because there was a violation and NOT because of 'vendetta'. The very idea is insane and almost an offence to myLot surely? We have proof that they look after us all by the fact that they have altered the rating system and other such things so I am sure they would NOT delete without reason. Whether we, the users, are aware of the reason is another kettle of fish though.

Well, I asked because a friend of mine started a discussion and by the time I received the notification a few minutes later, it was gone. I had previously replied to one of his discussions and when I went to look at other replies an hour later that one was gone, too. To have a discussion deleted right after it was submitted is bizarre and makes me think the process might be automated. There was nothing in what he said that violated the rules.

There are so MANY things that we do not realise are violating when we respond. Some discussions are plagiarised, some are repeated topics, some talk about earnings, some are by users with multiple accounts or underage... and the list is endless. We never stop and think about those reasons and prefer to think that myLot is wrong. I prefer to think that myLot know what they are doing and are trying their best to keep this site as clean as they possibly can.

I don't know about discussion's and how it's done, but I can say that some people seem to have some hefty weight around here. Mysdianait, I do believe that you remember my friend goldbadge. His replies were deleted just because the poster didn't agree with them. I believe that some of your's according to my mother were removed from another discussion by that member as well. On top of everything else that one member also had some member's account's suspended for no reason. Now Goldbadge happened to have printed off the whole page with all response's on it, never once did he say anything wrong or even bad in that reply, yet it was deleted. He also had his account suspended by the poster. Yet the poster himself, was the one that was going to far, in that discussion. Yet nothing happened to him? This really make's me wonder who is running Mylot? I also am going to add below more to this.

I had it happen to me for a while. I dropped from a 10 to a 2 overnight all because I told someone the truth she didn't want to hear. She must have spent the whole day stalking me afterwords & marked everything with a -. I've since recovered most of the way.

Wow, sounds like someone needed to get a life. I don't think I've ever been ticked off at someone so much that I'd spend any time actively trying to hurt them.

I am surprised you are at a 9. All the "truth" I have seen from you are statements and opinions. Not once have you successfully made a point nor substantiated one. I have disagreed with most of what you posted on shared discussions in mylot, but never once voted you low. I have never marked anyone with a negative. You must have pissed someone off something fierce.

There have been some question and answer sessions with the administrators here on mylot in the past, one in particular was pretty long and quite detailed. I learned a lot in that one, just reading through it. Anyway, one of the things I learned mods do not just delete threads just because they are reported. They do investigate. I have had a few threads of mine disapear, but I believe in every case I had violated the guidelines, as is the case with most thread and post deletions.

Could you perhaps give me some idea what the thread was about? I may be able to give you some idea of why it was deleted.

That's good to know. I'm puzzled, though, because I friend of mine posted a discussion that didn't violate rules and neither did the replies I read and yet when I pushed the reply button I saw that it had been deleted.

It is not easy for one person to bring down the ratings of another member. A person may have a vendetta, but there is only so much that he or she can do. Even if a group is involved, it requires some hard work. If you look at the guidelines the whole picture becomes clearer. Our ratings can also go down due to certain actions by us. The bottom line is we steer clear of any violations, and avoid getting deep into flaming attacks. MyLot has always been fair. We need to be patient, and try to understand the tasks that they face everyday.

I agree, it's a big job. I have never had this happen to me but several of my friends have.

Rosdimy is right. This is not a man mission to bring down the rating or the star reputation. It requires a huge negatives to change the status. And surely it has to be a group effort and that to at the cost of a long hour.

I spent one full day on one thread, "SAVE THE WHALES" voicing my fervent opinion about something. I did it with the utmost respect, answering all questions, pointing out all fallacies, including links to movies and websites to help substantiate my point. I was friendly and never attacking. I actually got pinned agains the wall throughout it. But, I contributed A LOT to the conversation, more than any one paragraph poster. I started with a 70 star rating, and people did not like my opinion, and voted me negative. I was never once off topic; I gave thorough detail, etc. People on mylot can be petty.

It's too bad that people can't seem to discuss something without being rude or taking it personally. I disagree with a lot of people but at the end of the day it doesn't physically hurt anyone when someone disagrees. I don't know why people get so upset.

I was speaking figuratively, but, ultimately, the rules at mylot are "If you don't agree with someone's stance, you can not rate them negative." But a lot of mylotters break that rule. I disagree with a lot, and those I simply don't rate, but I would never take away a rating that people work hard for. I am now rebuilding mine, and I realized people vote you "negative" as a way to quiet you down and intimidate you.

I remember that discussion. In fact I replied to it, to me that was so wrong. I also didn't care for the one member that came in there and posted there opinion on every response in there, saying that we were all bad people because we thought that was wrong. I am shocked I didn't go down in rating's.

As for post's I cant really tell you if people have weight or not in having them deleted. But through a certain investigation, of a young lady with a problem we have found that she had 26 post's deleted for no reason and over 150 replies. In fact Captain Ross asked everyone to read the post's and see why they would be removed.(luckily said lady kept all over her post's on her computer) There was no guideline violation's. Now, Miss Sandy one of the ladies whom goes into site's under cover, has found out that she had a problem with a member and before she knew it, her post's started being deleted, as well as many replies.(I am sure we will be seeing more problem's from that) I can assure you that Captain Ross, wasn't to happy about making a good response and having it deleted for no reason. The only reason why it was done was because he said Nice Avatar to the person.(see my response above, about goldbadge) Now as for the star rating, if you do some searches you will see that a few member's stated they had friend's bashing their star's for fun. According to such post's it took only about 20 - rating's to take them from a 9 to a 3 overnight. So I am sure that a small group could do it, or even one member could bring it down some. Of course I wouldn't ask my friend's to knock down my rating just to prove a point, but these member's did.

Mike from what we have been told you actually knew the lady in here. But I have to say a lot of her post's were deleted and for no reason. I have seen some lately as well that have been deleted and for no reason.

Yes, I would say that some have been removed like that for no reason. Look at Cat, and what the man did to her post's. Not nice at all, I guess from what we have been told he is the same man as the other lady had problem's with?

hey dragon!! you seem to have really gotten it going in here. i wanted to come to this discussion and say how do you know when someone has caused you to get deleted. but i read over some and it seems everyone has different ideas about the deletions, stars, etc. i still dont know why my little email poem was deleted. unless someone else got the email like that and made a discussion about it and thought i copied them. i wish admin. had some way of sending us a quick little explaination, maybe automated. so we wouldnt do it again.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to most deletions, just WHACK! and they're gone! Whoever is deleted has no idea, usually, why it happened. Bad policy, in my eyes. Sorry about your poem! I can always use a good laugh and wish I would have been able to read it.

well i'm not sure if my discussion has ever gotten deleted but it is possible because i don't know every rule on mylot but i know sometimes i forget to put mature content for some of my discussion so maybe that will have my discussion deleted but my star has gone down. i have no clue why i try to answer each question i answer with honesty and try not to be rude just because i disagree with someone i hate starting drama and arguing i got enough of that in my real life. so if my star goes down i'm upset but i try not to let it get to me because its just not worth all the stress and trying to figure out who did it. they got their revenge and theres nothing i can do about it. we just have to be careful on here about how we say things to people so it doesn't start a war. so if it ever happens to you try to remember the song move along by all american rejects well happy mylotting.

I do not know how it is done, but I can tell you a friend I use to have in here before, had some of her's removed for no reason other then she had one member that didn't like her. He constantly would go and post bad thing's on her discussion's, then he would report the discussion. The discussion's themselves were not violation's, but his replies were. The replies were not removed even after she reported them. But her discussion's were. So I believe that some people can have thing's removed just to be hateful.

What a horrid thing to do to someone! If they don't like someone, avoid them--I can't understand how people can be so mean to others.
