Transparency In Government

As I was sitting here today reading some discussions in politics I sort of got the impression that some here think that the Obama Administration is not as transparent and they would like them to be. So, with that being stated, do you think that we should call for an investigation into the current Administration? What exactly would you like to know that you don't currently know (and please do not make this about where he was born)? Do you think the current administration has done something to call for an investigation?

I want to know exactly how a man with a felony criminal record, a violent one at that, managed to get by an FBI background check and land a position as a presidential green job advisor. I want to know how much the president knew of this man's back ground, if he knew nothing how did the informaytion NOT get to him at first, and since I am sure he knows now, WHY is this man still premitted to work in such a high level of the United States government. I'll be back with more over time, but this is one of the more obvious and easiest to deal with for the moment.

I read an article on AOL today about Cheney, and it shocks me that he is doing everything possible to stop anyone from investigating what he did. I find it interesting that all of these people are going after Obama claiming lack of transparencywhen when we have a former vice president doing everything in is power to block transparency.

Pelosi and Reid both promised to investigate allegations against the White House. They also promised to investigate abuse and fraud in the use of federal money allocated for Iraq, Hurricane Katrina and other high profile situations. The fact that NOT ONE investigation has occured is not the fault of anyone but the Democrats in charge. They have the authority, the means and the opportunity. They just don't have the interest. Why? Because their names would end up on every report of corruption.

X, there is an old saying about guilt, those that aren't want everyone to know what they did, and how they did it. Those that are, want to hide everything they did, and try to stop anyone who is trying to prove they did something. Does this tell you anything about this situation. If anyone in the past administration violated the consitution do you think we should know about it? Or should we just ignor the constitution because we were attacked on 9/11. At what point in time did violating the constitution become acceptable?

We are demanding more transparency with Obama because he promised transparency. He promised to post all non emergency bills for 5 days after they hit his desk before he signs them. So far he has yet to honor his own promises. He illegally and unconstitutionally seized private property in the Financial and Auto industries without trial or warrants. He blackmailed leaders of both industries (as well as others), using strong arm, mafia tactics to get them to comply. The Central Committee each need to be investigated under the RICO act.

Yep, Bush took em over with Obama's AND McCain's blessing in the form of a yes vote. Bush And Obama were BOTH equally in it up to their necks.

"He illegally and unconstitutionally seized private property in the Financial and Auto industries without trial or warrants." Doesn't the Federal Government have eminent domain? My city has used eminent domain out of its general purpose.

Looking through our Government there is a real need for an investigation, but not as framed by the responses in this conversation. I would look closely at those in positions of authority during the previous administration. I have my reasons.

I happen to agree with you but, according to most of the conservatives here we should just let the presidents do whatever and just sit here and whine about what they are doing.

My biggest problem is their Czar program. These people are appointed by Nobamas admin but they are beholden to nobody. They are never investigated but they have unlimited power, that scares me. I think the people who make policy should be qualified policy makers. They use the news media to spread the information they want us to know but if we ask a question we are deemed a radical. They don't want you to see what they are doing because if you knew there would be a revolt against them. Say what you want about Bush but he didn't act like he was king of the world when he was President.

What the anti Bush people accused Bush of (sometimes wrongfully, other times rightfully), they celebrate in Obama. They don't care how illegal his actions are, and none of them care about the US Constitution to worry about how unconstitutional his actions are. Too many of them would love to do away with the US Constitution all together and let him rule unfettered and unquestioned. Fortunately, all the debate around HR 3200 has proven that there are many Obama supporters who are willing to question him when he crosses the line.

Actually Bush's press guy said that he passed false information to the press. And, personally I have no problem with the Patriot Act but that law gives a lot of power to the administration. Bush may not have acted like he was king of the world but he did act as if he was king of the US. He probably would have acted like he was king of the world if he actually liked the rest of the world.

There will never be an investigation into anything Obama does while the democrats control both houses. They should be careful about going after the past administration if for no other reason than if power shifts back to the Republican party they may retaliate.

Niether party has shown any interest in playing watchdog to the other. Neither has the incompetent press.

I have to clarify since you were a little vague, so now, I'm asking a question to you. So, if the Republicans controlled Congress would you want an investigation?

ZEF, If Republicans controlled everything I'm sure their would not be as good a chance they would feed on their young. The other point I am trying to make is power goes back and forth from DEM to REP. If the DEMS go after the REPS now it could come back to bite them. Also if we find out the CIA saved thousands of lives and the DEMS are trying to lock up agents that were just following orders, this will hurt the DEM party. They shouldn't go after these guys if only for political reasons.
