I mean I've been wanting to lose these 50 pounds forever!! Over a year. One minute I'm focused on losing weight the other minute. I just want to pig out and eat everything I want. And if we can't lose the weight does that mean we truly don't want it? Or are we just so use to being fat that we don't want to lose the weight because we are scared of what may happen when we are thin. Are we just in are comfort zone that we can't seem to get out of it. And losing weight does that mean we'll be having a happier life? Or just a longer life of what we have?

It is just a matter of self discipline if you really want to loose weight!

How can it only be self discipline? I meann sometimes I sit down at the computer and don't even realize that I"m eating. So how would that be self discipline?

Ok than how bout if I eat a Apple than that's healthy right? Quess again if you have too many apples it can actually increase your sugar than your hungry again. Even though there healthy for you too much of a good thing can make you eat more. Another example is Tomatoes. If you eat too many tomatoes it can actually cause you to gain weight. How about fat free chips or fat free products? Nope there no good for you either because the stuff they put into those foods makes you eat more. I believe it's not a matter of self disipline. It's a matter of eating what you want but in limited quantities. Something you can do for the rest of your life. That's what makes you lose weight. Finding something that you can truly do till the day you die. THis will make you lose weight as well as keep the weight off.

discipline yourself to stop eating while you're at the computer. and discipline yourself to eat only nutritious foods.

I don't know the answer to continuing motivation. I've been overweight most of my life, and I turned 65 this week, so that's a fair while. And so, arthritis and type 2 diabetes come into play. However, 10 months ago my partner and I decided, for health reasons alone, to have a try, and we devised a diet which revolves around a 14 day cycle in which we eat good quality canned soup for 23 of the 28 main meals (lunch and dinner), with our "normal" diet the other 5 evening meals. We also went on exercise programs, exercise bike and home gym, and for me a lot of gardening and walking the dog. Result is, so far, 36 lbs for me and 11 for my partner. Where the motivation to continue came from we don't know, but continue it does. But I think a great part of the success comes from the fact that it is no crash diet, but a steady, tasty regime that allows for the occasional splurge without too much damage. Good luck with it, and I hope you don't wait as long as we did. Lash

Wow that's great!! I love soups too! I'm trying not to wait as long as you did. Because my grandmother and my father both have bad knees. And with the extra weight they carry it makes it even hardier. And I've already begun having some problems with my knees. I know I have to do something but I just can't seem to get moving. I was there for like 3 months than I got lazy, depressed and just not wanting to do anything. I am still likke that today. Depressed mostly. But I'm working thru that. I will find a will and get it done just not sure how long it'll truly take me.

Losing weight is my problem for a year one. I gained so much weight that's why I'm experiencing problem with my menstruation. This year my mens is not normal anymore I experienced heavy bleeding twice. My doctor told me that it is hormonal imbalance and I need to lose weight also. No matter I tried to lose weight it always been a failure. I know that it is because of my bad eating habits no matter how I tried to I exercise I don't losing weight.

I absolutely relate to what you are saying! I need to lose 50 to 60, I would like to lose it for feeling good and wearing the clothes I want andall of that, but also I am diabetic and have arthritis and to get down to a healthy weight would help hugely with those. But I am the same, I will be great and motivated for a while and then lose it (or not lose it, I guess) and scoff the contents of the fridge. I think I DO want it, but I think I have been in this cycle so long that I am familiar with it and just play it out over and over - I don't think its so much that I am afraid, than that I don't really believe I can do it. I don't think weight loss fixes your life. But I do think it can make a difference - both having the confidence in your appearance and in feeling healthy, and also in a sense of achievement that you did something for yourself. In my case hopefully healthy eating and exercise, which will result in weight loss will also give me better diabetic control Maybe we can encourage each other :0)

Encouragement I do belive is the key to losing weight. I know that's the truth. THe last time I was doing really well in losing weight I was within the youtube community. Basically people video taping there challenges thru weightloss. And there ups down and just about everything. IT was actually really inspiring. Maybe encouraging one another would be a bad idea. I know if we have support it's a lot easier to lose the weight. But when your on your own... it's usually so hard that it's hard to do... Actually really haven't completely done it.

I'm exactly the same as you! I find it so difficult. I eat quite healthily, my main problem is not getting enough exercise. I know I really do want to lose the weight. I guess when I do exercise, because I don't see results immediately my motivation and focus wavers and I sort of forget about weight loss and then a week later I'm back to thinking "right I better do some exercise!"

Exercise is a great way to lose weight. Even if your not eating right. If your walking daily and getting that exercise in. It makes you feel better and you'll lose weight. I was walking 3 miles a day and hour a day. And I was losing about 5 lbs a week. And not changing my eatting habits. That problem is you gotta stick with it in order to keep the weight off and to keep losing more.
