Chairman of HRC, Mike Pence, wants Obama to Suspend Appointments of Czars to....

Mike Pence, the Chairman of the House Republican Conference says that the Obama administration should suspend the appointment of any future Czars to the administration pending a background check due to the Van Jones scandal. I for one have to agree with him. All these appointments of these so called Czars have been bothering me for some time now. These people are being appointed without having to go through the vetting process that any other member of the administration or adviser has had to pass. This puts them in a position of power without actually knowing if they truly have the best interests of our nation at heart. So what do you think, should anyone that the current administration wants to appoint in a position of Czar have to go through a vetting process and background check, or is it ok for them to simply be appointed regardless? Any thoughts?

Congress appropriates all the funds for the salaries for all of a President's appointees, including Czars. Unlike Department Secretaries, Czars do not need to go through the nomination procedures, so the Czars have no Congressional oversight. Here is what Congress can do though. Refuse to appropriate anymore money for the Czars 6 figure salaries until they all have hearings, and a vote. These Czars would have to answer questions just like any other Presidential appointee, and would receive an up or down vote just like any other Presidential appointee, or they will not receive one more dime in taxpayer money.

I'm glad someone finally spoke up on the czar issue. Good for Mike Pence. The president should not be allowed to put so many people in powerful positions without vetting them. It is probably unconstitutional anyway, and maybe now that the Van Jones scandal has surfaced, more officials will insist the "czars" be vetted.

My first thought is "I wonder why Chaney didn't think of it first"? Sounds like something he would come up with. Kind of makes the right thinkers jealous! tdemex
