does every village need an idiot?

Idiots are a nessesary evil really, we need th eentertainment, the boost to our own egos and of course people to blame when things go wrong, ie; "look what that blithering idiot did!" I think every village needs a drunk too (though in my town we all just kinda take turns). The problem comes when one combines the two job titles, all sorts of mayhem ensues. One final thought...every village has an idiot, if you can't think of who it is, your probably it.

LMAO! I have to say that in the US I think that each village has at least 10. The problem lays when they breed with each other But, to answer your question, it is clearing for providing entertainment. George Bush taught us that, for sure!

Now see jb, village idiots is exactly why you need evil people like me to keep them in check. Evil people have no empathy for idiots.

Hi Judith, are you nuts? One idiot per area? Never heard of generations of inter breeding my dear? Every family in the village has at lease one or more, either tucked away out of sight or allowed to actually roam at will. The most obvious are theee brothers we have whom people tolerate very well and send on odd errands rewarded with an ouzo, if a handy child can't be found.

Well, if there weren't idiots out there, how would those of us who are sane and smart be able to diffirentiate ourselves?? LoL If there were no idiots in the world, where would we get the majority of our laughs from? Though i do agree, we should put a ban on how many idiots can be running around at once--we don't need them out-numbering the rest of us LoL

Hi jb. . I dont think every area should have an idiot, but i guess it does make things interesting.. now a day there are usually more then one idiot and any area at any given time..

Judith, there is a fatal flaw in your otherwise well-reasoned point. If two village idiots were trying to outdo each other in terms of idiocy, would either of them be smart enough to know when they had the upper hand? And couldn't you get into trouble with the Guardianistas and the Equality Councils? Why should idiots be the preserve of villages? Aren't towns, cities, counties and even principalities entitled to their fair and equitable share of idiots? Just curious.

yes i think every village needs an idiot to provide comic relief from the toils of everyday village life. it makes me feel good about myself to know that i'm at least smarter than this guy even though not by much. two idiots means double the laughs and double the confidence.
