Would you go fishing for your own seafood?

It would be fun to go fishing for your own food. Especially if you want bigger and better seafood. You will get the best pick because you caught it. Would you go through the trouble to get your own seafood? Do you have the money to get the things to get your own food? How much would you go through just to get your own choice of seafood?

Hi Melbee, well I'm really lucky as I've got lots of willing fishermen to go out in their boats and get it for me, which is practically the same thing. Sometimes I go along for a ride in the boat too. It's actually quite a lot of work to do fishing well and involves getting up in the middle of the night to catch the correct bait, then returning, baiting the lines, then going back out to line them up. I just go out usually for the pulling them back up bit in the late afternoons. My favourite seafood is lobster but I never go out alone on the boat of the lobster fisherman but do always have a freezer full of his produce.

well if i ate fish then i probably would. at least then i would know that the fish was fresh, had been killed humanely and hadn't been lying in the back of a truck for 6 weeks. i live pretty near to the sea (and to rivers) so getting there would not be a problem.

I wouldn't mind catching my own seafood. I've been fishing before, but it was in a lake, so all I caught was a trout. I gave it to my cousin, and I think he fixed it for dinner that night. I love seafood. Shrimp, crab, mussels, fish it's all yummy to me. But I fear I might now know exactly how to correctly clean the food, or prepare it. And if I didn't do it right, I might make myself or someone else sick. But I think there would be something satisfying in catching, cleaning, and cooking one's own meal.

I have on occasion fish for food. the process of getting the seafood is the fun part or maybe adventures part. the cleaning and preparing process is to some people gruesome, You sea blood intestine internal organ and others of that sort. But once you are used to it it doesn't matter at all, some people think they are so good that they cannot even clean a fish. You eat sea food all the time and let people do all the fun part and dare to say that it is cruel. You consume the best and good let other people take the bad and dirty job.

Hi Melbee, I never been to fishing before in my world life and I do hope I am given a chance for a fishing trip in future. My husband likes fishing alot and he been to fishing a few times with his friends. He told me that it was so fun and realy can catch a big fish and they cook the fresh eat to eat. How nice and yummy !! Too bad ,I never join them on that fishing trip. I am not sure whether my body can take it for the fishing trip or not as I am easily get headache especially inside the shaking boat. Recently, I noticed there are shops who are doing a prawn fishing business at my town. I never try it before. It cost cheap RM 10/hour. Maybe I should try it out one day.

I have gone fishing before and caught fish to eat, but I did not cut it up or cook it. I didn't want to see that happening. but I when it comes to food that was once a living creature I don't really like to catch my own. It would make me feel bad, I would rather someone else catch it and skin it or scale it or what ever, I don't want anything to do with that. I guess if I had to, to survive I would do it, but since I don't have to I won't.
