I'm Excited About Weekend Plans

Canada
September 25, 2009 1:09am CST
I am very relaxed, enjoyed my free time and now this weekend I will be traveling to the city about a three hour drive. I am going to meet up with my long lost cousin I have not seen in thirty years. The last time we were together my daughter was seven, we had all met up for my Grandmas funeral. I will also see my moms sister. My cousin has just moved and I got a letter from her today, we've always wrote letters back and forth but today when I got her letter saying she had moved about three hours away I decided to go see her and she was so pleased. I want to Thank You all for your well wishes always. How long have you gone without seeing a close relative?

I am so happy for you. I don't like family members living far away. My sisters live out of state, years go by between visits with my older sis. I see my younger sis usually a couple of times a year. I do have a cousin that I haven't seen in about 35 years. We keep in touch on the phone and email. I have some exciting plans this weekend too. I am going to get some, hehe. I am staying all night away from home. Oh la la.... I'm smiling.

Hey Grandmaof2! I am so happy to hear that you have been able to re-connect with one of your long lost cousins! I have quite a few cousins myself, but quite frankly none that I want to see or hear from!lol I think that's wonderful that the two of you will be meeting up this weekend! I am happy that you have also had this "free" time to do what you want for a change! I am glad that you are using the time to do the the things that you want too! Enjoy your meeting with your cousin and let us know how it goes! Have a wonderful time and be safe!

Now, let me see. The last time I saw most o them was Mum and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary. Now that was 1993 so it was 16 years ago. It was probably around the same time since I saw some of them before that, hang on, it was my sister's wedding and that was in 1967, so that was over 20 years. I have never met my cousins on my Dad's side.

Most of mine are gone. I have one uncle left and we were going to get together a while back but nothing ever happened. Sadly I have quite a few cousins who I probably would not recognize if I ran right into them. They are all scattered around the country and I really don't know them and was never really around them when we were all growing up since we were all in different places.

I only see my brother about once every 10 years but we email each other every day. Isn't it just amazing how cousins grow more and more alike over time? One cousin of mine was very different from me in every way when we were growing up and when I saw her again after about 50 years, we could have been twins.

Well I live with my daughter and her kids and now my son and his kids have joined us. These are the only close family I have left so I guess this morning was the last time I saw them. There is something to be said for keeping your family close at hand but there is also something to be said for them to strike out on their own.

Hi Grandmaof2! I am so happy to hear about this! I just hope you have a great weekend with your cousin. Maybe youall will get to see each other a little more often now that she lives closer. I hope so, anyway. I'm in Alabama and I have relatives in California that I haven't seen since the early 90s. I saw the youngest one a few years ago but I can't remember what year it was. I think he was traveling on business. I'm not really sure. However, he had been in Nashville and he had his little boy with him. The little boy had never been to this part of the country and he brought him to see Alabama. The little boy's daddy's daddy (my uncle) was originally from around here. I used to write to one of the girls all the time. When they were kids, they used to come to see us all the time in the summer. The last time they came as a family was in 1977 and that was when both of their parents were still living. Kathy.

Well, it has been almost a yr. since I last seen my Sister I am closest too, but she moved over 3000 miles from me so it could be a while still before I can see her again, and my other sister we are not close so it could be years, and it will not really matter. My brothers live quite a ways from me as well so it could be a while for them as well. As for my husbands family when we bought our new house 3 weeks ago, his sister came and seen our house the day we were moving in, and we saw his Dad the 4th of July and his brother. We will see his Mom in just over a month when she and my husbands step dad come to his neice's wedding so we will have a chance to show off our New home to them then. Spending time with family can be a lot of Fun, and time to catch up especially when it has been a while for sure.

Hope your trip was the greatest! Thanks to one of my cousins here in the same city I live in, I have been connected through another site to cousins I have not seen for many years and others who I have NEVER met, whose parents moved out west when we were young, or maybe before we were even married. It has been interesting getting to kind of know them, although we don't really correspond, but do all the various activities on the site we are all on. It is just too cool to all be together on the same site!

I think, dear girl, you picked the perfect weekend, for a perfect outing! Especially now that you have got your freedom! From what I see, the weather in AB is going to be warm and lovely. Careful on the highways, tho! Long lost relative, how about my Mother, last laid eyes on her (for about 10 minutes| when I was 12....that's 50 years ago. And she lives only about 14 miles away from me! That encounter was enough to fill the rest of my life with bad memories! So, with that said, I truly do hope your weekend is joyous, and filled with the happiest of memories! Happy travelling & safe journey! Cheers!

YES, MY DEAR...one of these days we will have to swap "Ugly Mother" stories! She hates, and hated children...why she brought three into the world, I will never KNOW! Thank goodness for my father. Anyway, please have a wonderful weekend!

What a delight you are, dear friend, I truly hope your weekend was filled with as much joy....as me receiving your "best response!" I really thought about you this week, as we are still having summer days, fall nights...and I saw that AWFUL, non-transparent stuff falling in AB. Sure do hope NOT much fell in your area, and that it is gone immediately! It makes for a long winter, when it sets in now! I really hope that your short lived freedom was tremendously enjoyed! You soooo deserved that rest, after all you have been thru! It was cancer...ruled out in my mandible, by am NOW going thru long drawn out tests for "osteomylitis" (bacterial infection of the bone marrow)..so they cannot operate until that is cleared up! So all is well, and the pain is tolerable! Please take care, and let's hear from you often, as you are often in my thoughts. HUGZ...and rainbows!

6 months, usually my Aunt goes to Florida for the winter. She's the only person in that generation left in my family. My parents, other aunts and all uncles are gone now.
