Finally, I'm back here in mylot after almost 4 days. We have no electricity since Saturday morning when typhoon Ondoy hits the country. I really have no idea on what was happening because I have no means of communication to everyone except from my family whom I'm with during that time. I was shocked this afternoon to see the total damaged of typhoon Ondoy on TV. I never expected that it was that much. All I know is that we're here trap in the house with no electricity. I really cried when I saw those who were badly hit and at the same time I also thanked God that our area were not affected that much. I hope this tragedy will not happen again. I know part of it is our fault for not taking care of our environment. I wish that this will serve as our lesson. Hope that our fellowmen will overcome all these.

You were one of the lucky ones, like one of my friend's in Manila. She said that she and her dorm mates were stranded and trapped in their boarding house and they cant really leave because the water flood was already up to an average person's chest. Considering that my friend is petite in size, if she were to force going through that flood, there is a much more greater chance that she will drown.. Anyway, glad to know that she and her friends are alright. Glad to know that you and your family are too. I just wish I could say the same thing to all people in the area ravaged by the typhoon..

Yeah, you both are. I sure do hope and pray that that new typhoon(Peping) will not landfall and add to the current destruction that our fellowmen are already facing.

Well I certainly hope also. It's already Thursday and no signs of the coming typhoon yet. It's supposed to be the day of the coming of Peping as what PAGASA said. Thank God.

Your friend was so lucky to survive the tragic event. The best thing we could wish for now is for our fellowmen to cope up with what happened in sooner time. I know it will be hard and will took them long before they can start all over again. But with the help of our prayers I know everything will be possible.

Were all not expected that happen, my friend. Even me I'm surprise because once in life I experience this heavy flood in the Metro. I think that Metro Manila, is not safe anymore from flooding and worry again because another typhoon will hit our country...We all hope that this is not the same with ondoy...?

It is great that you were not affected that much by typhoon Ondoy... same here with me and almost all of those who live in my area... there was no electricity for like 12 hours... so my daughter and i stayed inside the bedroom during that time... we live at the 3rd floor of an apartment building so even if there is a great flood we would be safe... but i can't say the same for my other family members... My heart goes to those who lost their homes, possessions and loved ones... my daughter and i pray for them every night...

Same to you. It's good that you're safe also. Good thing that we only experience the cut off in the supply of electricity. Let us just continue to pray for them as well as extend our helps.

I am praying for all those who lost thier lives through the devastation of Ondoy. And for those who came out alive, you should look at this as a blessing and may you survive through this ordeal!

Thanks for that janebeth. Yes, I must say it's really one of the most tragic ever happened in our country. I know that there are lots of help coming from our fellowmen such as food, clothes, and services. I'm happy for that although as we know it was just temporary. What's harder is for those people affected to start all over again with their lives. Having to build new homes and all that.

Hi LdeL! Glad to know that you and your family are okay. Yeah, I've seen the news last Monday night. We have no TV at home but a friend of mine happened to invite me to dinner at their house and that's where I saw and realized the gravity of typhoon Ondoy's damage. I also cried my heart out :( It was really so sad seeing all those people suffering from the flood, landslides. It really broke my heart. Did you see the one where there was an overflowing river with some people on top of some kind of galvanized iron (roof) and when they reached the bridge they were gone? That was really very traumatic for me. I really cried and cried :( All our help and prayers for the victims. I know God will help us all.

Yes, I saw that also on TV. One of them appeared in wowowee and was interviewed by Willie. He said that he was along with his family but then unfortunately he's the only one who was rescued. His two daughter are still missing as well as his wife. He was really crying and what really broke my heart is when he said that her youngest was born during the time of typhoon Milenyo, and is now missing because of the typhoon Ondoy. It's her daughters birthday today.

Thanks. I'm from Batangas. Our area was also hit by Ondoy but luckily not as much as in Manila area. And yes, I know how we all Filipinos go hand in hand to somehow alleviate the agonies of the people. I'm so glad also to see people from all places giving their help, donating foods and clothes and extending their services to those affected. We once again prove how we Filipinos unite in times of crisis and despair.

That's good to know. Welcome back. My school doesn't have electricity at the moment so they announced that we're gonna have an extra 2 days vacation. It's cool of course but on the other hand, it's still very heart-breaking to know that there are people out there who are still missing.

it was really good to know that u were not badly affected by the tropical storm. my mom was really devastated about the news coz her brother was one of those mainly affected by typhoon. we havent spoken to him for almost 3 days at that time. to save the drama, we didnt bring her along when we went to the place yesterday. gosh, it was like a ghost town. u can see the traces of mud whereever u turn ur head. it left marks on the wall and fences on the road. its was like a sea in the urban area. we brought some clothes and food for them and for some neighbors. for the very first time in my life, i have wished that that weekend never happened. kudos to the filipino people who never got tired of helping others. ive seen lots of them locally and around the world doing the best they can to help in every little way. let's pray for those who have lost their loved ones and homes. good u are not that badly hit. and good u only lost electricity for 4 days. us here back in 1990, we had more than a month without electricity and it is really agonizing during the warm nights, especially that i had just delivered my youngest child at that time. my fervent prayers go to the victims of Ondoy. God bless u.

It's really devastating. I have written a personal story on this. http://barbiejune.multiply.com I was excited about doing several assignments online when i lost my internet connection. Power went out and at 4pm it was really dark. If I didn't go check from our balcony, I wouldn't have known what was going on outside. With the battery operated radio, i was listening to dreadful news and stories about how drastically it has hit us. And watching TV the next day made me realize this is going to be a story I will remember. I do pray for those affected by this. Sad to say, we are looking for our grandpa who lives in New Marikina Village. Many of my friends are also missing. One word - trauma.

It's really such a tragic moment for all of us. I hope that you will find your grandpa and your friends in sooner time and in good condition as well. And yes, you are right this is really a story of every Filipino which will truly be embossed in our hearts and minds. Let us just pray for now and do our best to extend our help to those who were badly hit.

It was really horrible. It was like a nightmare for all the Filipinos. I'm from the nearby province. We were not hit that much like what happened to Metro Manila but we also felt Ondoy and caused as some damage also. Let us just pray for the speedy recovery of the country from this tragic moment.

As a Filipina living in the US, I was horrified and shell shocked by the events that happened in the Philippines. It seemed like one natural disaster after another was tearing apart our country in a matter of weeks! I do hope that it is over soon, and that we can all learn from this experience. I know that the Philippines, particularly Manila, doesn't necessarily prioritize environmental preservation/conservation policies and I hope that this will be an effective wake up call. Regardless, I am sorry for any loss you might have suffered and the dismal state of affairs that you are currently experiencing. Keep your chin up and grow from this experience.

Thanks a lot for the encouragement. You are actually right,it is now time to prioritize things up. But it should not only the government that would take charge of it. We, as individuals can really do a lot to change things around. I hope we would learn to start that change within us.
