I hope I can explain this propely and need very NON technical answer. I'm on the spare laptop now as mine is having problems. The spare has no email set up but I don't want to make a new account, I just want to add my current email to this laptopI can keep track on mylot. How do I do it please. Is there any way to transfer it. I use outlook express and have a Greek provider, just want to open current email on this laptop. Thanks

doesn't your provider have a home site you can go to for help? we then can access our emails from the provider site instead with out having to download anything or start new things. we're having a problem with outlook on the other computer, it starts then starts getting mail in and then stops responding. had trouble explaining to the bloke on the phone what was going on with it all other day. i'd have emails come in 2/3 times, i gave up.

glad to hear your getting somewhere with it. if it keeps up we might take it to get looked at. i just had an accident with a memory card and had to have it to get taken out. so in no hurry to go back. have fun and i hope it all goes well.

What does it take to get a discssion to the back of the list so no one ever sees it again. Best response after a day is only reserved for technical discussions in the hope I never have to see them again.

Hi weasel, well the ever helpful akuler pm'd me all the details of how to contact my provider, no point in all at talking to them on the phone as all they tell you to do is turn it off then on again. I dealt perfectly well with the Greek instructions of what to do and the answer was they'd send me an email to complete the next step, which then went to the pink unreadable screen on the other computer. So I gave up and will continue to give up until a real person fixes it. You could try a real person for yours too, it's much easier.

...looks like you are already confused with it....so i will not add to your confusion. moreover i have already promised you not to be technical anymore...so i will keep my word. get hold of someone tech to configure your laptop....that's the most non tech answer i can give.....good luck..

Hi sunny, please don't respond, I am trying to put this discussion to bed now. I gave up on the email completely but now have a temporary solution in attaching the unreadable pink screened lap top which has email to an old monitor, so am now typing on one and looking at the other.

if Your spare computer has outlook already on it,Thea,I think you should be able to go through the setup wizard/menu or add account instructions and enter your details and email address to get going again..alternatively,you could try web based email if it is a temporary problem with the main computer..good luck!

I use web based email so I can get access wherever I go without being tied to an ISP mail account using OE..if Your ISP provides your email, you could phone their helpdesk and maybe have them talk you through the problem to set up OE on your backup machine.

Ok, I haven't a clue what I'm doing here. This spare doesn't have an icon for outlook express in the start up box which is how I usually get into email. Any idea how I can get into outlook express - how to access it to transfer it.?

if You don't have an Outlook Icon on your computer desktop, look in your startup menu list of programs and see if it is there..

I'm going to warn you that this may be completely and totally off the wall advice. Outlook express is a microsoft email provider, try going to msn.com or to microsoft.com to see if they offer the client online as well, or to troubleshoot. I hope this helps, but I also hope that I haven't confused you.

I am very sorry that you are confused, but I don't blame you for giving up. Technology ever changing, and put that together with things on the desktop! AH! But if your getting the email sorted out, atleast that's good!

My problem is that computers bore me rigid and should come with a bulit in little man who does these things for us. The computer teacher is going to pop roung and sort out the other one, only one round here who seems to use computers.

Hi somecowgirl, I am beyond confusion and have given up totally. I found another solution by hooking up the pink laptop screen that I can't read to an old monitor so now I have 2 screens in tandom and can get email on the screen that isn't pink. A real person is going to sort out email for me, I can't take anymore, seriously, a whole morning wasted.

I don't know if this is correct since I never use outlook express before. But I think you should just follow the instruction on your screen. They want to register your email account and ISP on that computer. Good luck

If you are on those webmail service, you can actually check your mail that way.. as you have been using the outlook express, it could be some of your mails are still store in the server, and once you have another OE, you be able to download those emails from the server.

Thanks for that but for now I've given up - I think I'll need a real live person round who knows about these things, everything I've tried just leaves me more confused.

Hi Zeph, I might be off for a bit as on the spare and its not wireless and can't sit at it long, and no email alerts. The one I use is completely pink so will try to find someone to fix it tomorrow, no one knows what a computer is round here. They might keep it in tho' for treatment.

Hi thea, Might be I have not got into such problem. But what I understand is whichever could be your PC, log on and sign in to the email and you are there. Just like what we do when neither desktop nor laptop is with us we prefer to step in a cyber cafe and check our mails. Is not this a way supported by that lapie? I wish I could help you more precisely but your seems to be a bit complicated.

Hi sweetie, well whilst you're not here I probably won't be either as the laptop I use is completely pink and has got to be fixed, and they might keep it in the hospital while they do it. No chance anyway of getting on this one when my son is at home. Speak to you soon I hope and say hello to your mum. No worries this end by the way except for malfunctioning technical things.
